All, St. Nicholas is my family hospital so I was able to get the information quickly which I am passing down thus-

1. Yes, they do dialysis and the cost of each session is about N30/35k

2. They do kidney transplant but not liver transplant. They also don't think there is any hospital that does liver transplant in Nigeria.

3. Yes they have spaces and there is a Dr on ground but he closes by 3-4pm so he will see Hamed if we can move him there before that time, if not the Dr will see him very early tomorrow morning.

4. They don't have donors for kidney transplant even though they do the operation regularly. The patient has to come with some family member who will be tested for a match before its done.

5. Yes, they have ambulances but their ambulance may be unwilling to go to that location so I advise we move him ourselves asap.

6. I have the Dr's name so the team can let me know who to send the name to.

Team A to call St Nicholas/Reddington/Kidney unit advertised on the top of the page/Bowen Hospital and any other hospital mentioned here or reccomended and to speak to them and find out the following info

a. Do they do dialiysis?
b. Do they have beds?
c. The cost of each dialysis
d. Do they have an ambulance to pick DJ from Eruwa to their unit?
e. Are they able to assist in visa procurement/advise on how to get DJ out of the country for medical treatment

And get DJ moved out from Eruwa TODAY

I have been following this thread on the sidelines and I have been really impressed. I hardly comment on threads but since idowuogbo called me out, I would be so glad to help.
Well I am currently in the UK so I don't really know how to go about transferring funds down but definitely I would be interested in giving my widows mite.
I have had people talk about Paypal through TEHN but anytime an account is opened for this whole travelling expenses and transplant, pls just give me a mention.

@young doctor since you are online, can you confirm which tests were carried out on DJ at the Eruwa hopspital. From what I have read here, he was only seen to yesterday, so I dont think that that many tests would have been run on him

If this is the case, then we need to look at moving him to a specialist dialysis unit ASAP. Any good hospital will also not solely rely on another hospitals tests anyway and they will still carry out their own tests.

we have talked enough and its now to take action. Every minute wasted is very crucial in this mans life

Today we must do the following . .

1. Get 3 teams together

Team A to deal with the Dialysis and Nigerian hospitals
Team B to deal with the process of flying him out of Nigeria
Team C to deal with fundraising

Team A & B needs a qualified doctor at least and several dedicated people who are prepared to do the leg work.
It will be better if Team A members are lagos based since its likely that DJ will be moved back to Lagos.
Each team needs a team leader and the leader will be responsible for regular updates.

2. Move DJ from Eruwa to a specialist hopspital

Once the team is created, I am happy to send a total of N5000 credit if any of the team members require some credit to ensure that these phone calls are made today ASAP. PM me your phone number and I will send credit directly to your phone.

If the chosen hopspital does not have an ambulance, then the team is to find out the cost and how DJ can be transported to the chosen specialist hospital

Please can these teams be set up this morning; certainly team A needs to be set up ASAP.

Team C will work with Team A and B to understand how much is required in total, how much is available now and how much is still required.

I nominate cramjones, busybody2, Gboliwe & Idowuogbo to be on Team C . . .as we need to get the ball rolling ASAP.
