It is easy for some people to come here and say Itsekiri must vote APC. To them, everything must be PDP vs APC, GEJ vs GMB.

Two years ago, the Itsekiri's wanted to celebrate one of their festivals. They had their river, but would only want to use the river at NPA that stretches over to Ogbe-Ijo. During the festival the Ijaws are not supposed to move along the water with their boats. It almost caused crisis. The government then flooded all the Ijaw towns and main market with armed policemen and soldiers to intimidate the Ijaws.

After the ceremony, the Itsekiri's sponsored a big advert on Vanguard saying the Ijaws openly allowed them do the festival in brotherly love. Those of you shouting that the Ijaws are troublesome do not see these provocations and intimidations using state forces. It is when the Ijaws react then you say the Ijaws like fighting.

The Ijaws do not care about itsekiri land. All they have been asking if you go into details during the crisis is that the Itsekiri's should not claim any Ijaw land.

Is that request not simple enough for a supposed 'peace loving' neighbor?

Are you saying the land belongs to ijaw? If yes, then i'll engage you no further cos it'd be clear you are interested in beer parlour Na-us-get-am-kindof-argument and i don't do such.Present your facts.
the project cuts across 13 Gbaramatu communities which is an ijaw land and should have been named with consideration to the contributions by
all stakeholder communities.

Why then should the project be named after an Itsekiri community (Ogidigben) and interest?”

Seriously if the project is on the two communities, i see no reason why the project will now bear just one of d communities. Cos in the future, when this govt is no longer in power, a problem will most likely come up within the two tribes again. But this itsekiri people dey pull weight oh! I dey view dem as d smallest tribe in delta followed by d Isokogringrin

I urge anyone interested in knowing the facts of this matter to see Vanguard of Wednesday July 30, 2014 and read the Ugborodo rejoinder to the issues being raised by Gbaramatu. Ijaws have no claim whatsoever in the Ogidigben EPZ. There are two projects in one: Gas City covering 2,560.89 hectares of land and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Jetty Project of 300 hectares.
The land Delta State Government acquired for the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) for the Gas City lies between Ogidigben and Ajudaibo. Notices of Revocation of the Rights of Occupancy as published respectively in The Pointer of Thursday, November 12, 2012 and Vanguard of Thursday, December 6, 2012 expressly show that the land is between Ajudaibo and Ogidigben, which are in Ugborodo Community. The 300 hectares NPA Jetty lies between Madangho and Kpokpo. Courts of competent jurisdictions have adjudged these lands part of Ugborodo in various suits.
Tendered receipts where Ijaws pay as customary tenants to Itsekiri were part of the facts that gave Itsekiri court victory in those suits. Certainly, Itsekiri have copies of these receipts and are verifiable public documents in the Courts!
Barring the debate on land ownership, the Ijaws are asking for their own Interface committee. They say in the days of EGTL which they acknowledge was solely on Ugborodo soil, the Ijaws and even Ilajes of Ondo had their own Interface Committees to negotiate their stakes as impacted communities.
It is good to hear they agreed that they don’t have land ownership claim to the EGTL. The Itsekiri people have made it clear that they recognize the presence of the Gbaramatu people settled in Itsekiri land and the Sokebolou Ogulaha people as their neighbours. Same goes for the Ilajes. For this reason Ijaws and Ilajes benefited from projects within Ugborodo Community like the EGP, EGTL etc. in the usual Itsekiri spirit of accommodation, magnanimity and hospitality.
For the EPZ, Itsekiris are prepared to accommodate these people again, not as of right or by falsehood and threat or violence but as a privileged to neighbours. They can have as many EPZ Interface Committees as they desire if and when the project come to their land. For now, the entire land (about 3, 000 hectares) acquired by government for the EPZ Project belongs to the Itsekiri. Let me add that EPZ is 3 times bigger than the gradually winding off EGTL. There is so much to go round not just for Itsekiris, Ijaws and Ilajes but Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.

How you came to interpret what is written there to mean jealousy beats my imagination. It is always your people that are trying to claim on Ijaw or Urhobo land causing ethnic clashes.

have you stopped to ask yourself why the fight between Ijaw and Urhobo against Itsekiri dating back to the 50s or earlier. Why are the Ijaws and Urhobo not fighting (even though there are recorded issues and complains, it has never led to the type of clash between the two tribes against Itsekiri)? Does the answer not speak volumes of who the trouble makers are?

Stop dreaming, what happened in the EGTL situation? 70% or more of the land for delta Gas city project, belongs to the ijaws, don't come here and repeat that colonial history that holds water no where in delta state.. NNPC will do the needful or the project will be cancelled. There are other states in the SS where this project will do just fine. Remember this is delta state, where no tribe will push anybody around.

Uduaghan's stupidity is the reason for all this rubbish, he should have settled this matter in house. Instead he is acting like a novice before the Nation.

That is why i am saying that if Nigeria should break my immediate village would become a country of its own. Even in my small village of three communitties, they still contest for the ownership of land, talkless of larger communitties. I think i like the way the federal government is handling the situation with caution. We don't need all this sectorial violence.

I do not want to dine words with people who r here to cause more problems rather than proffering solutions to critical issues. It's simple to say the name be change to neutral one to avoid future calamity...

That's just a simple solution. Change the name to something neutral, so that nobody will wake up one day and claim land that does not belong to him citing the project name as evidence.

Why are some people still insisting the project should be called Ogidigben?

Delta Gas City, Gbaramatu/Ogidigben or Ogidigben/Gbaramatu. That's going to be accepted by all at the end of day.

Delta Gas City is the best. My opinion.

This is a simple solution, why some people are in sting otherwise baffles me.

As a peace loving person i think the name should be changed to a neutral one. However,my grouse is how ijaw keep laying claims to 70percent of the land with no proof or historical, geographical backing whatsover.
