I'm not here to brag, post your curriculum and I'll post mine, then we'll compare with what was obtainable 20 years ago and what is obtainable now internationally, and I'll try my best but i can't promise not to exchange insults with a witless worm and oaf like you whose greatest achievement in life would be a prefix and the estacode that is supposed to accrue you but not the responsibility that follows the said prefix afterall, am only human. The day Nigerians wise up to their rights and start sueing your fat stagnant and backward asses for every expensive error and blunder you commit, your prefix which incompetents like you boast about will turn to ash in your mouths then we'll know who the jobless one is, you or me
Don't start hating the prefix o. Some optometrists answer "doctor" too. I met one when I was serving to complain about my tummy. Let's just say I was disappointed in the end

the whole thing boils down to corruption exhibited by our own handily-voted government... and this corruption has delved into the very core of health sector....the whole scenario is getting more cloudy with no ray of hope... johesu sees consultancy as a chieftaincy that must be used to honour all the components of health sector.....the whole building is crumbling.. no cornerstone to start afresh...we have the brains..we have competent health leaders which are the doctors but what shall they do when the facilities are only fantasies of the mouth...the system is rotten....all we Care about is money...

i wouldn't say i was, neither would i say i wasn't, i'll leave it to you to judge, so please tell me, was i denied admission if i was required to grease the palms of certain proffesors in the faculty of medicine at the point of admission but couldn't? And yes, i know you'll claim you didn't either, seriously you didn't? And no one you know of either? Keep lying to yourself dude.
Also, did you read through my post? Would you refute any point i raised or just zero it down on my assumed bitterness? Did you notice that i was only criticizing "NIGERIAN TRAINED" doctors?

If you need to know and only if, i was only bitter for the first two years or so into school due to my conclusion that there was apparent injustice but as kids must grow up, so did i, now i look back and realize that it was a blessing in disguise and i dodged a bullet so no hard feelings here dude plus i know what i know because i have many doctor friends and when they go abroad e.g the U.S, 99% of them fail the medical board exams and have to restart medical school again. So prove me wrong if you can.

@braniacX.....please tell it to us.. on what basis and evidence do u place your points. or you are one of the other rigid Nigerians that talk because others talk..."99% failed abroad exams"....which year? which board examination?.... any who reads your post will know that you are just a pained inferiority-complexed individual looking for the dotty chance to spell out your emotionally-oriented sentiments and understatements....lemme define #hating/hatred for u..."its a vice that curiously takes you from your path to another party's path in order to squeeze out faults form the party doings"....all these will only stagnate u...come off it.....stop hating....

ooooh! touched a raw nerve did i?

I guess the cap fits you afterall doesn't it?

Methinks the two ends of your elementary canal carry out reverse roles meaning you shit with your mouth and talk with your ass. . . DAMN!!, where is that stenchometer? It reeks in here!...............where.......where .....where.........did.........i.........put......it?............AHA!! finally, let me check the amount of stench this oaf brought into this forum..... WHAT!!! OF THE SCALE!!!huh Gotta go get me full hamzat gear with air tight facemask. Am out!!

Re: u spent 8 years learning outmoded practices and proceedures so what?
I raised pertinent issues which all simply translate into this - our "Nigerian trained" doctors are incompetent and unproffesional and most skipped ethics class in school. And all you could come up with is you were trained for 8 years so you must be the bosshuh Tell me, how do you compare with your American colleagues who went to medical school for 5years? Will you also b the boss of such a contemporary in the same setting given your 8year training? LMFAO grin
also if you must know, medicine aint that hard to gain admission to study here, i once did but ignorantly turned it down(not a school of my choosing) and my "ignorance" was GOD blessing me in disguise or i would have ended up like you . . INCOMPETENT!!

Also, am a fellow of both the Nigerian and American Optometry Associations meaning, i also went through 8 years of training too.
How mediocre a Nigerian am i now?
Mehhhhn, this chap is real bitter! Pray he doesnt lay his paws on a pistol, else he will lay some doctors low tonight!!

You started with the right questions and I was inclined to provide you with answers then I saw the end, so help yourself, a little bit of research won't hurt you afterall, don't you folks blab a lot about how studious you are? Also, don't worry about me hating, just excel at your profession and make a name for yourself and your country and then even a hater grin like me would be forced to clap for you too.

Might as well start with my gf, next my sis, next my cousin so don't worry cheesy grin got a lot of family, friends and folks i'll have to kill before I get to you so by my estimates you got @ least 10 years before you die so use them well, travel out, improve yourself and make a mark before I come to end you.

Not some, all optometrists answer it but fact is, they don't have to deal with life and death situations do they? So forgive me if your incompetence irks me more than theirs. I answer the prefix too but I have been oriented to see it as a challenge to live up to everyday and not as the summit of my life's achievements.

Kcinho:
The above is a definition of bitterness. I'm sorry the reality hit after you got in. Your type can't be schooled. Maybe that was the reason you couldn't get into med. school. You should be proud of what you ended up with instead of hauling insults and bringing up lies just to get a little satisfaction. Ophthalmology is here to stay and there is Nothing you can do about it. I'll advice you relax and assist them when necessary.
Hahahahahahaha! Yours is the funniest of them all, seriously? huh Get into med school? In Nigeria? And end up like you? I don't think so.
Re: who the hell says ophthalmology should go? Are you in touch with reality or something? Hahahahahahahaha! grin and of course am relaxing and assisting my ophthalmologist colleague only am picky about who to assist and who to torment over his\her ineptitude grin if you get my gist.......

Also, with all these hot air you guys are blowing, I can see you're artfully dodging my request for your syllabus and I can understand why, maybe like my gf, sis and cousin you went through it and was like OH SHIT!!shocked, we're being taught same old crap as was being taught 30 years ago so the question you should ask yourself is why has medicine and surgery in Nigeria been watered down and made relatively easy? Is it because your professors and their friends and cronies want their children and grandchildren to have the prefix doctor without actually being one in practical sense?
I called my family and friends incompetent and quacks first, so who are you that I should spare you?

Government shd be proactive this time around
1.Get auto analysers for lab investigations, also the doctors in lab wil be helpful
2.Recruit some CHEWs to replace nurses and with house officers on ground.
3.Recruit plumbers, drivers and electricians on contract basis
4.patients purchase drugs outside the hosp.
With these on ground and the committment of the Doctors, our hospitals wil run normally with little or no hitch.

So pathetic... this comment. Your reasoning is so substandard that it makes us the real professionals want to puke.
I work with professionals not shortcut replacements, because I want to prove some mediocre points...I have to go back to primitive medical practices... No.
Government should give them what they are entitled to but the relativity in salary should be maintained.

Everything boils down to money. I think there's a selfish interest here. Anytime they embarking on a strike action, they must compare with Drs.

.
Like someone said, work may still go on in hospitals. But the fact is whenever they are on strike, they lockup all the patient's folders; Remove fuse box, so power supply to the wards are interrupted. They sometimes go to the extent of switching off the Generator and locking the Gen house.
All these their actions is not reflective of the strike, rather it is an act of wickedness.
Doctors can treat patients if they'll just go on holiday('strike') without altering other things as usual.
If afta prescribing drugs for the patient, you write it out, they'll buyfrom pharmacy stores, usually around the hospital.
If its investigations, Drs in the laboratory medicine will do that. If its one that can't be done, specimens will be sent to outside lab.
So I think their extended act to frustrate the doctors work whenever they are embarking on a strike action is condemnable.
people like this stil exist. Since no dr cn perform the work of a scientist so easily. Let me tell u wht hapen when d lab sctist were on strike, .dr were tinkin dey no every tin,dr went to transmit blood wwitout proper matching, there by claimin d life of d innocent patient. Dr cnt do every thing in d hospital. They shud hide their pride and brought to d well bein of the patient

Scientists and other JOHESU members can now be consultants. Can we now have peacehuh? Meanwhile, some Doctors specialize in Laboratory medicine and so can do the needful in ur above example. #GetInformed. Awaiting for the chaos that will erupt between JOHESU members... like Lab. Scientist and Lab. Technologist, etc etc.
