Drahmah:
I'm not in support of the use of force to dethrone any government, but I wanna correct your impression on mimiko's case.

Mimiko was ELECTED by the PEOPLE of ondo state so he has every right to remain in power even after defecting from the LP. His mandate was given to him by the PEOPLE OF ONDO, not the PDP.

In Tambuwal's case, he was elected speaker by the majority party, the PDP . He got his mandate from the PDP so I think he automatically loses his speakership by reason of his defection to the APC.

If you know your constitution, then you also know that the office of the Governor is covered by great immunity. When the constitution says whatever member of the national assembly that defects from his original party on whose platform he was elected into office, it doesn't say the same for the office of the Governor.

I hope that was clear enough
you dont know what you are talking about. When you vote in agovernorship election, do you see the candidate's name or the party name? In a governorship election, you are voting for party, same goes for all general elections. For 'speakership', every individual stands on his own, there is no party representation here, that is why tambuwal was able to win majorly with the support of apc hor members. I'll advise you stick to what you know.

Tambuwal should have been shot dead for having the effontery to dare GEJ even with members of his entourage trying to destroy public property.I blame the spineless police detachment deployed to secure order who should have shown more balls and tact in dealing with them Janjaweeed lawmakers,I blame the deputy speaker who has, fortunately for my principal Ararume, just killed off his imo ambitions with this brazen display of disloyalty and cowardice,I blame the PDP members in the house for not using this opportunity to reclaim the seat of the speakership for their party....#GEJ till 2019.

Why did you just mention only Mimiko b4?

Was i supposed to mention everyone in the world?

PDP members are shouting that Tambuwal should be kicked out because he defected. In pointing out that this position is hypocrisy, was i supposed to use (as an example) somebody moving from Accord Party to Labor party? grin

ASL33:
Anyway I think different rule applies to house members. Remember the first set that decamped, their case is still in court.

Legally, I don't see how there's any difference. I think the rule says jumping ship is only allowed if there's a devastating crisis in the party.

But this issue is very simple. Ask yourself whether it was possible for the house members to elect the speaker from the minority? Is it possible? Would all the members accept that? Would you, assuming you a majority member in the house and considering the fact that majority wins the race in democracy. Na simple thing.

No wonder you're ignorant of even the simplest of things.
IGNORANT SIMPLETON.

And there should be a law that makes it a crime.

What can I say to these words of "wisdom"? If you don't have tertiary education (I guess that's probably what you mean by "higher institution", you're an "ignorant simpleton". Pray, what percentage of Nigerian voters have a tertiary education? Even Bin Buhari doesn't have a tertiary education.

While I actually find it interesting that our janjawid friends shall resort to alienating the vast majority of would be voters with careless statements like these, I will leave you with some quotes.

I keep seeing this comparison with Mimiko. Get this straight: Mimiko is a governor and Tambuwal is a member of the House of Reps, these are different positions! The Constitution provides specifically that a member of the House of Reps loses his seat if he becomes a member of another political party. (Section 68(g) of the 1999 Constitution). This section is crystal clear. Stop calling Mimiko who is a governor. The section does not apply to governors!
Guy you are as daft as de madmen parading the streets of Yaba everyday. We are quite aware of the position of the constitution on a defected speaker of the HOR. The issue now is, hav the members of the HOR impeached the speaker? the answer is a big NO. Again, has the Speaker resigned his position as Speaker of the HOR? the answer is obviously NO. So as it stands now, Mr Tambuwa still remains the speaker of the HOR.until he is formally impeached perhaps based on the position of de constitution or rendering a resignation letter de house okay. Btw* Tambuwa knew the implication of his defection, thats de reason he suspended sections of rep members till December ok.

section 68 of the nigerian constitution, state that a member of the senate or of the house of representative shall vacate his seat in the house of which he is a member, "g" if being a person whose election to the house was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that house was elected.

there you can see clearly that your Tambuwal don't have right to attain a meeting or any sitting, except being invited as a guest. he lost his seat right from the day he decamped.

You are getting there. by 'there' i mean trying to be logical.
Now let's add a little honesty. there is an exemption to clause 'g' you quoted which states clearly the conditions/provisos under which section 'g' would not be applicable.
There are no half-truths my brother, only truths or lies.

The clueless slowpoke Jonathan failed again as usual.

He was taken into the HoR by other members-PDP and APC, David Mark walked with him into the house in Solidarity.

Why then are the two houses have to elect from pdp, majority. Atleast, they should agreed to select one from PDp and other from minority for fairness. But in this case all the two, senate, speaker all from pdp, majority, why, if according to you they are political offices?
