abula112:why arrogate so much power to obj?If the election will be free and fair, how many persons can he directly influence?Though I respect him as a person but he can't tell me who to vote.I doubt if he could do same for you. That one na for political parties, not for the voting public. 1 Like |

abes: So, you would want Tambuwal to preside over a HOR discussion about his defection if he had tabled it at the beginning? Its very clear in law that you can not be Judge and Jury at the same time. Conflict of interest. It's really very simple.. |

Cubeet2: Let me join u in making dis clear. If u are intelligently educated, practically schooled, and u know ur Geography well, u will know that the physical location of Lagos makes it so resourceful that all other resources(even the human resources) want to dwell in it. And that's also more reason why the Businesses will never leave Lagos. Pls I don't mean no harm. |

chukwudi44: That my brother is for the court to decide. But if you want to go that way, let's see: Is Isa Yuguda still bauchi state Governor? Is Amaechi still Rivers State Governor. I can go on and on. This is not good for our democracy. You can't decide who or who not to punish for committing the same crime(if at all it is a crime). |

As speaker he knows the rules! It is within his rights to defect but he as custodian of the law know the consequences which is losing his seat as legislator So him adjourning the house for a lengthy period just because he is changing paties is irresponsible and Tambuwal/Janjweeds should be ashamed of themselves And what we are seeing quite frankly is how APC will govern if they are voted in. They will not respect the constitution and they will twist and bend it to suit their personal interests! At this point the behaviour of APC will justify any extra-constitutional actions by PDP just to remain in power. When the opposition are not even pretending to be lawful then why should the incumbent relinquish power to them?....culled from mikeansy's |

Whitehorse:Obviously your reading and understanding faculty is nothing to be desired. That section says and the poster explains that Tambuwal remains the Honourable Speaker of The House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria whether the pdp constitution likes it or not. Just as jonathan can not be a judge. Go to the house and impeach Tambuwal and try and get another Speaker if you think you are popular. Enough of the lawlessness! 2 Likes |

Whitehorse:ok thank God u know this the section says or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored and as at the time he decamped there was factions in the Pdp sokoto , so he is a smart guy besides a clever lawyer. So pdp and gej can ask the court to pronounce his seat vacant. |
Re: Nigerian Troops Prevent Speaker Aminu Tambuwal From Entering The National Assemb by abes(m): 4:19pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
Whitehorse: 1. Court of law is different from HOA. 2. There was no member of the HOA that has raised that motion during any session in the House. 3. Even if 1 and 2 are TRUE, there is nowhere in the constitution that states the Speaker MUST step down for a discussion. Remember, The Constitution. |

Demdem: Troops indeed!! The one ones that run away whenever they encounter Boko Haram? The ones that are decorated "Field Marshals" and "Major Generals" without fighting or winning any battle? The ones that that get their promotion by dealing with "bloody civilians". Troops indeed. |

Whitehorse:It is very clear in the law that you can not be Judge and Jury at the same time. Conflict of interest. It is really very simple... I wish you read and understand what you yourself write. So you would want Jonathan to preside over a matter in which he has an interest. Pdp go to court if you're sad. You can't be Judge and Jury at the same time. When pdp decided not to go to court during Tambuwal's defection, they conceded to him. It's really very simple. |

obinoral1179:That local Sokoto mallam should be arrested and tried, he's an intruder. He ceases to be a member of the HoR the day he decamped as upheld in our constitution, and the court has approved it by asking that it remained that way. Any member that tries anything funny close to the premise should be severely dealt with. Enough of all the rubbish from these terrorists in apc. Their lawlessness and violence must end today, NONSENSE!! They are so evil and deserve whatever they get today. Tambuwal is now an ordinary mallam and should be shot dead if he and his entourage play that crazy 'gate' stunt at the Assembly grounds. PERIOD! |

"a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who shall be elected by the members of that House from among themselves." (Nigerian 1999 constitution, chapter 5) |
