tabletman1:...I know umuahia very well,i'v been to all the nook and crany of the city, this my 4th year in this town, the issue of light is not static that only if u're residing in the city center(bank rd,old tower side, aba rd,orpet etc),new areas like ehimiri down to micheal okpara uni is worst, for the past 6months,we'vnt had light. In terms of road network,i will you guys 75%,and you cant compared umuahia and owerri or even awka(i must tell you,in 10yrs time, awka will overtake umuahia, with her new rising building, hotels and other infrastructures)..., |

Schematics:I dont think anambra state needs an airport(especially building new one,why not revamp the one we have at oba, just a stone from onitsha,i think that's the perfect location)moreover,we have airport at asaba, the two state govs should partner so that it would be serving the both states(because of the commercial potential of anambra)....If we have our own, thats to the detriment of asaba airport |

@OneEast, You seem to know about everything happening in Anambra State, is there anyway I can reach you personally? I need quite some information on certain projects in the state urgently. Thank you. |

Another good thing about the airport is the ATK refuelling zone that will avail international flights to be landing there instead of going to Ghana for their refilling. This will create a whole new employment packages for the state and boast the state's IGR to a whole new level. Anambra is on over-drive.. Innovator90: |

Kingsley1000:Read innovator90's post and you will agree with him that Anambra needs an airport. I used to think like you until the day Niger bridge was blocked because of primary election in Asaba. The airport must not be close to Asaba or Onitsha. We can still move it to areas like Neni, Okija, Ekwuluobia or Uke. My opinion though. |

The airport site has been acquired and secured around Umuleri/Otuocha axis. I am very sure that preliminary work has resumed at the site because Orient Petroleum is championing the project because of the commercial sell of their ATK product. That location is the best because it has a table land and enough room in case of future expansion. It is equally central to the major cities of the state and close to the Orient petroleum refinery/plant. Ilovenigeria: |

Kingsley1000:We need an airport; no going back on this strategic project...already explained the strategic reasons in my previous post. Anambra government knows better and as with Orient Petroleum to be VERY SERIOUS about this airport agenda than anyone. This will immensely propel Anambra to limelight and generate a great deal of internal revenue especially with the ATK refueling station that will serve international flights. As Schematics just mentioned, the land has been be secured within " Umuleri/Otuocha axis ". The beauty of this new location is it meets the requirement of what they are planning...SIZE, undeveloped town which affords room for future expansion and modern development in the area...the government must have really thought about this to have changed location from the default Oba which is already close to a congested city like Onitsha...why congest it more and create more traffic? We have to plan for the future and growing population! Days are gone when airports are built right inside or close to a major inner city. Modern airports are built far away from an already developed city....20 miles away at least; the rationale behind this modern thought is to reduce congestion, traffic, noise pollution (Lagos is suffering from this now. Abuja got it right...far away from the city), help fuel development in the new location, and allow them to plan it as they wish...hotels, restaurants, shopping mall, all lined up on the highway leading to the airport. This makes it a one-stop modern airport destination...as soon as you get out of the airport, get in your car or cab/shuttle within minutes you are at your hotel room, restaurant or mall to get what you need....less stressful than driving into the city to find where to lodge, shop and eat especially when you are jet lagged from hrs of flying; all you want is to find the closest place to rest, and start your agenda the next day...now you can enter major cities like Awka, Onitsha and NNewi to get your business done! Obiano has lived in the US for a while; he saw how things are planned! This proposed airport will bring in investors, create jobs, housing opportunities, expand Anambra more that already leads as the state with more road network and developed towns outside of current and former federal capitals (Abuja and Lagos). Umuleri/Otuocha axis will be added to the list of major towns but will look newer and modern; and will be mentioned whenever Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi is mentioned! |

Obiano an co must be very stupid if the airport should go on and be sited at Otuocha,Awka should be the prefered location. Am watching his clannish disposition, Anambra North have highjacked everything in the state, they are getting most of the appointments and all capital projects are finding their ways there. I saw people marking Atani Rd, i dnt know whether he's dualizing it or not because that road needed to be dualized, its an industrial road with densely populated neighbourhoods and towns. A construction job is going on at Orlu Rd Ihiala now, the EEDC people are very hardworking here installing and mounting transformers, i saw a fire service outpost here in Ihiala along the busy Orlu Rd. Obiano should come to Nnewi abeg, Nnewi is more economically viable than the Otuochas and Aguleris he is moving everything. There is one big mkt being constructed at Ogbunike now, the International Mkt at Oba is mouthwatering, i didnt get their pics but i just passed there now. I have pics but am yet to hit the cafe, the last time i did the server dissapointed me, so i might likely recharge my modem and upload from my system....biko mek una bear me. |

The land in the state capital cannot be used for such a gigantic project as airport. Like Innovator90 said modern airports are sited off the major cities like they did in Abuja and now in Anambra(Otuocha). Besides having massive table land at Umuleri/Otuocha axis, the location is quite central as it is about 20mins to Onitsha, 25-30mins to Awka and about 45-50mins to Nnewi. Aside all these, the airport is very instrumental to the commercial take off of the Orient Petroleum ATK and natural gas in that region. The airport and refinery facilities will complement each other concerning the commercial ATK for the international flights and all. It was even Peter Obi that secured the site for the new airport at Umuleri but because this is a government of continuity the project was continued as though it was the same administration. OkijaAmaka:someone correct me if i am wrong but i think you hold back that thought that obiano sited the airport at umuleri axis due to clannishness when it was during peter obis's administration that it was conceptualized at a time obiano was not even known by you. |

Schematics:Bro that area is developing fast expacially Ogbunike/Ogidi axis, that of Ogidi building materials, plastics etc mkt, that area was thick forest before, My mum is from Ikenga Ogidi they call that area Ndaagu, although it was Mbadinuchu and Ngige that started the transformation of that area, they connected Enugu/Onitsha express road to Old Awka road, they also installed power substation and kick start the market, now that area is fast expanding both the market and residential buildings. |

This is how people discuss differences and it goes fine, at the end, reasonable conclusions are reached, doubts are cleared Not like some who turn contrary opinions into meaningless war. Keep it up bros. |

Chino aka schematics aka oneeast, listen and listen very good. The next time we catch you insulting any Igbo son/daughter irrationally you will cry that day. You have been into hiding for over a month and even sold out your brothers so yolobass would stop splashing your pics. If they don't do it, we the Operatives will do it whenever you misbehave. We have forgiven you for selling out some of us but insulting Igbos is what you can't and won't condone. While you are still hiding and pretending to have shunned tribalism we still see you insulting Igbos. Last warning. We won't warn you again. Cc: Operationigrigi Omoreminder2 Tribal3ast |

Nice discourse going on here. For those against the airport being sited around the Otuocha axis are wrong IMHO, remember that that part of the state is one of least developed and trying to site it around Awka or Oba as some posited will only add to the congestion around those places. We need to take every part of the state along along. Imagine; Awka....... administrative capital, tourism Onitsha...... commerce, finance, industry, road transport hub Nnewi......... industry, commerce and now Otuocha....... oil and gas, air transport hub, food basket I know Obiakpo(Obiano) can do it. |

Kingsley1000:Bros, I am not from umuahia oh ![]() I just attacked you because you made some invalid points with umuahia. Awka have overtake umuahia only via population but when it comes to solid infrastructures, Ta orji don't need to broadcast before hammering the stuff cos he is ibeku worthy son .Awka is still planning on how to move eke awka to new location while umuahia has already move their old market to ubani with solid road access to it, awka is still planning on how to fix street light on it street while umuahia don beautify the whole street with sharp light. And many other stuffs. I don't know which way awka is going to overtake umuahia before 10yrs. Umuahia is a sleepy town but ta orji is doing all he can to wake the town. Nwanne, umuahia etetego . |

OkijaAmaka:Bro, Otucha has only one bank and that area seriously needs help. At least, this kinda project will reduce communal clashes those side use to experience and bring development. And remember that side still has large quantity of oyel and for now its the only oil producing region in anambra. Starving them this project will be the biggest political miscalculation in anambra. |
