It depends on how low the temperature can get. I suggest you look into Obudu highlands, where Obudu cattle range is located. It has a high likelihood. A friend is looking into that area to establish a grape farm.

l think area with 18-22 degrees during d day will be favourable. one can easily get an apple seedling from a renowed nursery here (kenya) for N2,000 & it matures in a year! the owner of d nursery has 1,100 apple trees & each produces 2,500 annually.

Oh I never knew that. Whether in Nigeria can be unpredictable atimes, I wouldn't want to take such risks especially if harsh weather conditions within a short time will hamper the survival of the seedling. I would love to see an apple plantation however.. I hope you succeed.

Certainly, there is a place in kenya called kisumu that share weather condition with Lagos and apple farming is doing well there. Attached are pictures of the king of Apple in kenya, he has about 1100 apple trees and sell apple seedlings for N2,000 and it matures within a year!

Very possible, as it matures within 18 months.

@rareman, as per d greenhouse one can personally build a low cost one of 45ft by 24ft in size with abt N130K within 2 days wit 100% local materials.transplant 15 apple seedlings into it, at least when it matures & ripens u won't struggle wit birds!

But why are we always getting it wrong in Nigeria? Govt will released mony for agric but banks will hoard it or give to their associates.
If government build this greenhouses and give at discounted rate wouldn't we be happy. Anyway saa can you believe I dreamt about me having Apple farm here in Ogun state. @pavore9. How can I get this greenhouse here in Nigeria? Or do you have someone that can handle it here in Nigeria. Am interested

My dear such are our bane here, imagine earlier this year government released 14 billion naira for dry season farming yet a water project in Ogun state which has facility for irrigation, cannot not provide water for farmers.
For the green house, @pavore is right we can actually provide it here locally. I will search for one of those video on green house and send it to you.

Youth please am begging try to invest in agribusiness ventures let try to go out and learn the field is green here in Nigeria I mean the market is over available.

You are right on point...green housing it will do the trick. Where it grows in Calabr is in a Rubber planation(under those thick rubber trees have a very cool micro environment for it to survive and thrive well)

l know l will be involved in some projects around that area the apple farmer's farm and the nursery is located, l will spread my mat and tell the Baba to reveal every secrets of its cultivation, l don't mind doing NYSC there for one week!

Yes it is, especially for high priced crops like grapes, strawberries, brocolli, butternut.

we have grape trees doing well in lbadan infact d fruits are different from d one in d market because it. is 65% sweet & 35% bitter l should be raising more of d plant next year but it takes close, to 4 years to fruit.
so l need hybrid!!! shorter maturity time

Redstark Apple will do well in Nigeria. harvest is within 18 months of planting.

It will be a welcome idea if we can make the planting of apples happen in Nigeria.I have been thinking of how to grow it in Nigeria and have been on the internet looking for information. Lets keep searching somehow someday we will get there. .....No giving up..

You can do a seudo cooling arrangment, ie you plant plantain to nurse apple tree just like cocoa is being done. Any where cocoa can grow am sure apple will do well there. The farm must be well fenced with two layers of teak trees or rubber trees or any other trees to control the cooling nature of the farm & good drip irrigation system.
