Omo! I fear this person o see how he dissected the song finish. I get your point but at the end of the day most nigerians just wanna dance to a good beat not necessarily caring about the lyrics.
Go to Lagos Island you will be surprised how rape happens routinely and the raped just get up clean-up and go home like nothing happened.

You thought right. The author of the piece must be hard of hearing.

It's all about the erstwhile reluctant Caro dealing with him sexually.
Check the meaning of ''reluctance" as it relates to rape.

Don't be an image assassin. First of all go and address over 90% of Nigerian youths that are having series of porn videos on their phones and millions of girls walking around aimlessly with short and transparent clothes before assassin Olamide image and songs. Go and count the number of ''shoki'' versions we have in Nigeria market. No b today abeg idon tey!!!

In case that was not convincing enough he continues so that there will be no doubts. He narrates how the lady started saying he is in trouble, “he has broken my back, he has broken my arm” and he again dismiss this again as story for the gods, meaning not even the back breaking and arm breaking or the trouble he is threatened with will stop him from having his way with her. He MUST do this and he must do so by force. Oh God! Our people did not stone him, they did not even say please we do not want this; they accepted this obvious and heartless glorification of rape. What have we turned into?
While your earlier article: "Least We Immortalize Nuisance" was exceptional and on point; I cannot say the same for this extremely malicious one.

You are attempting to twist the lyrics here. Verbal persistence = rape abi?

She says "I am in trouble" => She's in trouble because she's late (for home, whatever, etc). Not Olamide.

Rape endorsement is a weighty accusation, and has the potential to irreparably damage this young-man's reputation.

“he has broken my back, he has broken my arm”: Again, rough consensual sex isn't rape. He was rough, yes, and that should be none of your business.

This is slander.

My goodness... I thought it was Olamide himself complaining that the girl had broken all his bones with her prowess... shocked embarassed

What is music turning to?
My dear, listen to the song again carefully.
A very disgusting and violent song that should be condemned by all.
Listen well: He starts by saying he has drank dongoyaro and monkey tail-a mixture of local gin and weed.
Then he proceeds that he wants to fornicate today.
It is the girl that says-"mo ri ogo"-which translates to I am in trouble. Then the girl is crying he has broken my arm and my back to which the abuser retorts-story for the gods.
If you continue to the second verse the abuser goes on to say the girl came with her friend who came in to save the first girl and the abuser equally pounced on the second girl in between mouthing Islamic injunctions.
I am a mother and I feel sad anytime I hear that song.

OP, let me make it straight. Am not a fan of Olamide though i understand yoruba very well, but the fact remains that you are reading too much meaning to the track. Why was the song not barred from air waves, instead its a club favourite. Nigerians dont care about the lyrics these days, all they want is dance to sweet tunes. Almost all naija artists sing trash so leave it for the gods.

Re: Olamide's Story For The Gods: A Nigerian Song Recommending Rape? by Oahray:
I dislike the song for being shallow like most Nigerian songs, but this argument is not as sound as the writer would like to think. The song is about pretense; saying one thing while your actions say another. The Claro gave excuses INITIALLY but ended up a vixen.

Vulgar, yes, but don't give a dog a bad name to hang it. The word räpe shouldn't be thrown around carelessly. Some innocent persons have gone to jail for it.
Re: Olamide's Story For The Gods: A Nigerian Song Recommending Rape? by okunoba(m): 6:45pm On Nov 28, 2014
This post is so off the mark and ridiculous at best. Story for the gods, is simply about enjoyment, what guys do on a weekend. Getting high on weed and alcohol, picking up girls. And telling us of the way some girls in Nigeria talk when having sex, like u don kill me o, it's getting late, stop now while stroking u. Story for the gods pretty much tells of the fake talk that takes place when having sex.

HYPOCRITE!!!! What would he say to d lyrics of Lim Kim, R kelly or Joe.
For your info: Sina...does not mean sexually exploits alone. He never mentioned he was gonna rape her.

Listen to 12 play by R kelly,Don't Want di*k tonite by Lim Kim then u won't Dare compare.

Snoop Dogg once appeared in a porn movie, what happened. Beyonce virtually goes naked yet she performed in d presidents inauguration.

Its a video and fictional. Take your case to the clueless govt.
