I refuse to identify with the color of my skin, am African first not black.

That is it. They are shouting. "Black is beautiful" everywhere. Meanwhile, they are using this phrase to hide their insecurities. Totally agree with you on this!

I honestly dont have an issue with the light skin dark skin drama... but it hurts speakin to a 9 year old girl and all she says i wish i was light skin coz people say im too dark and id be more prettier if i wasnt dark..
I mean even kids aint proud no more

No, you guys misunderstood everything.
When they said, black is beautiful, they only meant that Africans in a whole are beautiful people. Just like Americans are White, there in America, weather north or south.
The issue of Light skinned and dark skinned is a matter of choice, just like there in America, i think they have this major likeness for blondes.

here in Nigeria is different cos is very easy to find a light skin person we see it as a mere thing but if u live a country like Ghana where 98%are darkskin, you will find this problem. one thing I find awful about gholly wood is, the producer only use biracial for acting. one thing I know is when u live in a country where almost are dark skin but 90%of what they see on TV are biracial, there will be so much inferiority complex
