Falling Oil Prices: President Jonathan Revealed Nigeria's Response! by msmon(op): 2:25am On Dec 03, 2014
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his
administration’s commitment to developing an economy that works for all Nigerians, stressing the need to shift from over-reliance on crude oil export, especially now that oil price is dropping.

He made the declaration Monday night, while hosting Top 100 Businesses Presidential Dinner,
at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The president said he had, therefore, directed
the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to
work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to
implement a comprehensive investment and
trade agenda for the country.

He said the agenda should create local production of goods and services to substitute unnecessary imports, arguing that falling prices of oil was a strong reminder that the country could no longer rely on one commodity as a foreign exchange earner.
The president said: “We can no longer continue
to export raw materials. We must produce what
we consume and consume what we produce. We
must diversify our economy, even though we
know no nation is an island.

“In pursuit of this noble objective, I have directed
the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to work with the CBN in execution of a comprehensive investment and trade agenda, in order to create local production to substitute unnecessary imports.

“This is to ensure our country becomes self-reliant and to cut down on imports which drain foreign exchange. This is a game changer, because it will reposition us globally and rapidly boost our foreign reserves.

“The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment
and the CBN are already working with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to cut down import of petroleum products.

“They are also working with the Ministry of Agriculture to cut down import of food products
and with the Ministry of Mines and Steel to cut down imports of metal related products. This will be one of our boldest initiatives to finally make our country self-sufficient.

“I am confident that if we are able to produce in
Nigeria most of what we consume today, bulk of
investments required to make this happen will
surely come from the top 100 companies,” he
said.

Sorry Pal, its too late. Nigerians have already taken their decision.

In as much as some of us would have loved to still give you one more chance, you have failed your English { unprecedented spate of insecurities in the history of the Nation} and your Mathematics { an ailing Economy}, hence you don't even have the major prerequisite for admission into school of Second-term.

Don't go the damage-control way either , cos that can only at best, describe how so "proavtive" you have been as The President of over 160million people.

But the masses can't make policies to effect diversification of the economy. Our lazy and visionless government deserves all the blame.

Being beggarly this way is the reason why you are poor because you must be beggarly in the mind before it comes out to the fore.
Goodluck to you in your wait - for the government.
Again I say, Goodluck!

How rich are you for not being beggarly? Your conclusion about my poverty tells a lot about about your paucity of wisdom?

When you hear a meow, you do not need to wonder if it was a cat or a dog.
In the same vein, the language of the poor is just about universally the same. When they speak, verifications are not needed as to who the speech came from.
Your definition of poverty is very likely to be different from mine, but I don't even need to turn it over in my head. By the definition of men like me, you are helplessly poor.

The words that you spoke came from the poor side of your mind. The rewards thereof are comfort and rest in the reasons for which you cannot get the things you want. If you have nurtured the thoughts you expressed here for years, then chances are that you have lived in this comfort for years.

It is typical for someone who has lived (or who is living) like this to vehemently reject any attempt by anyone to take away their conveniently accepted, soothing and consoling reasons for which they cannot have the things they want, or do the things they really want to because then, they have nothing to console them anymore. They have nothing but the stark reality of the undesireables for which they have adopted reasons (actually, excuses) that make it easier for them to live with the pain.

I'm very sure the guy you referred these statements to is already confused and have left the thread with shame.
