| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by gameboi: 10:21pm On Dec 04, 2014 |
Passing chords are illegally legitimate chords. The rules involving the creation of passing chords are based on: 1. Moving in half-steps. 2. Moving to the fourth 3. Moving to the fifth 4. Other Movements ![]() what I posted above might not always work. But they always work ![]() Sorry for the late reply. You guys are not trying oh , a simple mention might just be enough to remind me. Won't it ? |
there should sha..wat questions[/quote in one of the examples u used, u mentioned a moh augmented chord or so. how do no what chords will work best on an accidental note. when should it be diminished, augmented, major nine etc. |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by zbone(m): 10:44pm On Dec 04, 2014 |
gameboi:moving to the fourth, fifth? explain |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by Dramadiddy(op): 10:45pm On Dec 04, 2014 |

what u have to do is first know the chord, and then, try it on any degree and use ur ear to check if it sounds good to know, i once said on this thread that whatever u like, someone wont like it and someone will like it, so just focus on creating ur own music...do what sounds good to u!! |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by gameboi: 12:05am On Dec 05, 2014 |
zbone:when using a passing chord to move to the fourth note of any scale, you'll need to play around a circle of fourths. In the Key of C#, the notes in the scale are: C# Eb F F# G# Bb C . C#. The fourth note in the scale is F#. Hence, the passing chord when moving to the F# would be the fourth note of the scale of F#(F# G# Bb B C# Eb F F#) which is B. Please note that the fourth of any key is always a Major. Therefore, Bmajor would be played. The easiest way to remember this method is just to use the 7b of the present key you're playing. (The 7b of C# is B). I'll explain The other method of moving to the fourth And how to move to a fifth tomorrow. |

Gameboi, we day wait! |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by Karleb(m): 5:54am On Dec 05, 2014 |
gameboi:Is this by accident or what? Because the 7b is also the dominant seven, it all seem connected to me. ![]() |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by gameboi: 8:42am On Dec 05, 2014 |
Karleb:Something like that |
| Re: A Thread For Keyboardists by gameboi: 8:53am On Dec 05, 2014 |
The second way of moving to the fourth with a passing chord is to play the fifth note of the scale in a Minor. In the key of B(B C# Eb E F# G# G# Bb B'). The fifth note is the F#. Therefore to move to E(which is the fourth note), F#minor( F# A C#) would be played. The other method of moving to the fourth of a scale is beyond the scope of this post . It is a bit difficult to explain because it involves ear and brain work . |
