PDP Didn’t Make Me Speaker, Says Tambuwal by ogbonnajoe(op): 5:25am On Dec 06, 2014
House of Representatives Speaker, Hon Aminu
Tambuwal, has dismissed demands by the presidency
and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he should
vacate his office since he has defected from the party
to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Tambuwal, in an interview with Voice of America
(VOA), monitored in Kaduna yesterday, said the
demand was anchored on the erroneous belief that
the party was instrumental to his emergence as
speaker. He added that although he was a member of the
party, he became the speaker despite the fact that he
was not the party’s choice due to the support of
opposition lawmakers and other Nigerians. The speaker, who has been having a running battle
with the ruling party and the presidency since he
defected to the APC on October 28, said the wide
support he got made it possible for him to defeat
House Leader, Hon. Mulikat Adeola-Akande, whom the
PDP had presented for the position. The PDP, in line with its zoning policy, had zoned the
speakership to the South-West while the North-East
was to produce the deputy speaker. However, some
PDP members, egged on by lawmakers from the
defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), one of the
legacy parties that formed the APC, had ganged up to violate the PDP zoning policy by endorsing Tambuwal,
from the North-West, for speakership while Hon.
Emeka Ihedioha, from the South-East, emerged the
deputy. ‘’The mistake people are making is by saying the
PDP made me the speaker. The PDP candidate was
Hon Mulikat Akande-Adeola. Although I was in PDP at
that time, I was not the party’s candidate. It was legislators of other parties and other Nigerians
that presented me as a candidate. And I contested
and won,”

Former Speaker, Tambuwal you speak like an uneducated person. Agreed that you were not the party's candidate for speaker. If you were not a member of the party, would you have contested at all? Why is it that only members of the PDP contested for the speakership. Why did the ACN, CPC, APGA , accord, labour, etc, members not contest? Why did you not defect to ACN then and contest. The position of Speaker was reserved for the party with the majority members. That party was PDP. That you were not supported by the party is not an issue.
That you can even go against your party's directive shows your high level of indiscipline and ambition. You are not a leader if you refused to be led yourself. That you lasted this long as Speaker shows you are good at your game. But, Alhaji, nothing lasts forever. Your people may elect you as governor because of their blind hatred for Jonathan. But I assure you, dishonorable sir, it will be a different kettle of fish.

Tambuwal why did u forget so soon? Ur argument is baseless. The issue we are saying is that, you contested for the speakership position even though you were not the choice of the presidency at that time because you were a member of the majority party PDP. Could you have contested if you were in the opposition party? No of course. It's only majority party that the speaker always emerge. So do the needful by resigning honourably else the court will disgrace you.

So this man has been rebeling against PDP his party for a long time and they left him yet he still betrayed them. If he wasn't the preferred candidate why then did he not step down? Rather he went behing and started lobbying opposition to vote for him.
This is also an insult to the PDP lawmakers that voted for him and accepted when he won, this is an insult to the president that accepted him even though he wasn't his preferred candidate. He is only castigating PDP just to get the governorship position in Sokoto state, Sanusi Lamido did same and now he has gotten what he wants from Kwankwaso and has made peace with GEJ.
After the elections next year, I see a lot of peace talks. Till then, I comment my reserve.

Typical Ape behaviour, rather than refute the solid points and arguments posted by elose11 you went full ret@rd insulting him.

This is a hallmark of an extremist view from an extremist party. You guys when cornered with objective arguments and fact resort to insults.

I am very sure if this debate was ongoing in a public space you would have resorted to violence and thuggish means to make your point.

I like your APC for one thing only; it has polarized our Nation between the criminally insane bigots and the rational minds.

You apes all fall within the imbec1le league

Tambuwal does not know what he is saying.
Re: PDP Didn’t Make Me Speaker, Says Tambuwal by Nobody:
As far as I am concerned , the speaker is absolutely right in his assertion . The section of the constitution which states that a speaker of the house of representatives should emerged from among a member of the house who won the highest number of votes in the contest of the position , justifies his claim . He has a valid point and case .

I still insist that the only options the PDP has to remove him from office is through either using his constituents to recall him by way of passing vote of no confidence on him and on gathering 2/3 signatures of those that voted for him during the constituency election . Secondly , by way of initiating an impeachment proceedings against him within the house which will also requires them gathering the consent of 2/3 of the house members to do so , after finding an impeachable offense against me . However , it is quite ironic that non of the above options is available for the PDP citing the speakers popularity within the house of representatives and his constituency .

Re: PDP Didn’t Make Me Speaker, Says Tambuwal by ogbonnajoe(op): 4:38am On Dec 08, 2014
it appears that Tambuwal was a secret spy for APC based on his argument that the opposition (APC) rather than PDP made him speaker. I begin to wonder the kind of loyalty he may presumably have had for the party under who's platform he rose to that position. I still find it difficult to believe that Tambuwal had ever at any time been a patriotic member of the PDP
