Women should be able to get married at 16 years, Women most have that power to make that decision at the age of 16.

Physiologically, the maturity of a girl don‘t depend on age, a 16 year old can be more physiological matured than a 19 year old.

Mentally, the maturity of a girl don‘t depend on age, but more on exposure. There are kings who ruled their kingdoms when they were less than 16, example Ivan the terrible of russia. But their are 50 year olds who cannot manage a small store.

All agree that a 16 year old can have sex; even at 14, girl can be an house help (clean the house, cook, wash oga, madam and children clothes, take care of the children and do others like making oga “satisfied“). Yet a 16 year old can‘t get married.

People will say what about education? I agree, but what is the minimum level of education a woman MUST have before she gets married? Compulsory education ends in JSS 3. If we factor in university education, then we should not be talking about 18. How many people enter the university not to talk of graduate at 18?

And who says the education of a woman stops at the time she marries? My sister married early, attended the the university in her husband house and graduated at 23 (studied a 5 year course plus strikes) with a PHD (pikin, husband and degree (2“1)). What else should a woman wants? She is presently serving. Imagine if my dad didn‘t change his mind that she is too young, she need to attend the university and her husband now a lecture in UNIBEN, then just finished his NYSC and has only a private teaching job?

Nigeria wrote the law to give parent power to marry out their children ,in case they get pregnant and not for the reason you people think. If your daughter get pregnant will you not want then to get married.
