Why Buhari Would Be A Good President by Franchise21(op): 6:24pm On Dec 11, 2014
The former Head of State, General Muhammadu
Buhari (rtd) is the presidential aspirant
on the platform of the main opposition party, the
All Progressive Congress (APC), in the forthcoming
elections.

1. Man of integrity
General Buhari is the man of integrity. As a former
Petroleum Minister, Buhari does not own an oil rig or even a
petrol station in his name. Since retiring from active service
in the government, the General has lived on his pension.
When he served as the PTF chairman, he refused to draw a
salary from the commission, explaining that his conscience
would not allow him take money from a government already
paying his pension. He owns two houses: one at Kaduna;
the other at Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.

2. He is not corrupt
Nigeria is reeling in corruption. Buhari won a rare reputation
as a fighter against corruption during his time in charge of
Nigeria from 1983-85. Most Nigerians agree he did not use
the presidency to enrich himself and his backers. His iron-
fisted administration jailed several politicians on graft
charges. Gen. Buhari’s campaign team have made it clear
that they would not be pre-occupied with pursuing past
corrupt government officials to the detriment of the national
development; rather, the CPC manifesto says the Buhari
Administration will strengthen anti-corruption agencies
(EFCC, ICPC and the Police), while it concentrates on
fulfilling its campaign promises to the Nigerian populace.
When the head is good, it is only a matter of time the body
will get better.

3. Religion
Buhari’s ethnic background is Fulani, and his faith is Islam;
he is a native of Daura in Katsina State of Nigeria. But he is
not a religious fanatic. He also said he was not opposed to
a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2015 elections.
Once he said: “I have not absolutely closed my mind to
picking a Christian or Muslim as running mate if I get the
ticket. I firmly believe that Nigerians, having gone through
what they have gone through, realise it is not a matter of
religion, but a matter of Nigeria.
“And the main religions, Christianity and Islam, they know
and they believe in the Almighty God. The question of
stealing and short-changing people in the name of religion
should stop.”

4. Insurgency
Buhari is a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army who
was the military ruler of Nigeria from December 31, 1983 to
August 27, 1985. He knows a lot of strategies and may use
them to end the Boko Haram violence and he vowed to do it.
The former Head of the State has promised to end
insurgency and other forms of anxiety in the country, if
elected President in the 2015 general elections.
He also called on religious leaders to join hands together
and find a lasting solution that would curtail the persistent
killing of innocent souls in some parts of the North.

5. Family man
General Buhari’s first wife was the late Hajiya Safinatu
Buhari. He courted her when she was fourteen and married
her at the age of eighteen. A very shy and conservative
Muslim woman, she was not too visible on the social radar.

The man BuhariWho openely committed to the spread of sharia throughout the country

Who urged Muslims to vote only muslimsWho declared that dogs and baboons will soak in blood if he lost

Who truncated a nascent democracy and openely showed no regrets on Channels interview 30yrs after

Who despite his anti-corruption mantra partnered with most corrupt Nigerians alive in the person of Atiku and Tinubu. How does he intend to probe them?

Whose antecedents are extremely tribalistic.... overthrew a govt, placed an hausa president shagari on house arrest and ibo vice president Ekwueme in Kirikiri

Who has no addition to Nigeria's economy through investments

Whose religious fundamentalism is second to none.

That man Buhari is not worthy and can NEVER be the president of a United Nigeria.
