not sure about viruses, more like OS bugs that cause the phones to misbehave. it will only start getting prone to hacking and the likes when it gets very popular...so i dont agree with the virus thingy

everything was getting pretty well until yesterday afternoon when i updated apps like opera mini beta, skype, facebook, battersaver etc with wifi network, as am typing apart from the opera mini, every other thing isnt working properly...i keep getting this error code message whenever i want to access microsoft, gmail, twitter, etc... facebook own keep telling me we are unable to get data...

It's now back to having 2g and 3g connection speed options.

Well, you can only expect viruses and Trojans programs directed at the platform when its market share exceeds that of android. But until then, windows phone OS remains the safest and user data protection of the trio of the popular mobile OSes. Nuf said.

Matter of fact, I now have 4G appearing as an option in my device. This started after one critical update of about 100mb for PFD users.

Lumias 520 & 920 but screenshot is the 920's.

PFD means preview for developers. It's a platform for beta testing of OS updates to the phone before the eventual public rollout. So PFD users were already rocking WP8.1 like 2 months before it was rolled out for other users. It has its downsides though. You risk having your device being used as a lab rat. But so far, I've not encountered any problems using PFD versions mostly because the software updates are near perfect before they are even released to PFDs. So in effect, aside the newly released devices, PFD users will first have access to Lumia Demin and WP10 updates before other devices.

It's free to enroll in the PFD program. Just head over to the store to download the "preview for developers" app. Then you'd register on MSFT website with your windows ID (live, hotmail or outlook) after which you go back to launch the PFD app on your device and click "enable pfd". Then you're good to go. You'll be notified on your device to download and install any new updates for PFD. You can opt out at any tine by disabling pfd from in-app.
