phemmylink:Nice of you to have raised it. Further note that the bible has no records of early christians doing it. This exponential idea only recently gained ground and our so called pastors have leeched on it to scam magas dry. Thank God for analytical wisdom. |

Givers never lack. I give in my church when there is an opportunity to do so and I can say of a truth that, there's a turn around in my finances. I give cheerfully and that's why I am being blessed. If the giving is not from your heart, don't bother. Remember Cain and Abel. |

The end of Aribisala and his gibberish ignorance. Aribisala hates pastors now? I hate Aribisala's lack of knowledge. |

Sorry bro... I am not a pastor, my father is not a pastor too...so you get my point now right? Learn to give and remove your mind from it. Don't worry yourself who eats the money. If you gave with your heart, you'll receive the fathers blessings... frosbel: |

| Re: "First-Fruits": Pastors Are Planning A Major Robbery In January by Reference(m): 3:45pm On Dec 14, 2014 |
Firstly poster, if you love you will give. The same way you try to impress your girlfriend, your spouse, your parents is the same way you should try and impress the God you claim you love. 'For God so loved the world that He gave....' In fact, you can give without loving but you cannot love without giving. Secondly, you may ask but God is not in need. True. He is the Author and Creator of all so why are we asked to give. Because God wants us to be partakers of His nature which is love thereby expunging from our system the worldly way of lust and greed. It is a platform of opportunity. It is a theatre of proof that one has escaped the power of satan that desires us to accumulate more and more. All great men of wealth and power in scriptures were tested. Some passed, some didn't. Thirdly, Cain brought pickings of his huntings and Abel, produce of cultivation because those were the jobs available then. That was the currency of exchange. In the New Testament Peter offered his boat to Jesus as an offering. He was a fisherman. Jesus watched as the poor widow threw coins into collection. She was able to monetise her offerings. No one stops you from bringing whatever you wish unto the Lord but in these days of a unitary system of exchange in commerce and enterprise the easiest (for you the giver and the receiver) way to offer value will be through money. As in tithes it is quantifiable and best represents the produce of whatever effort God has enabled you make at work. Even if you were a farmer today I doubt if you will take kindly to your boss paying you in catfish, eggs or ugwu leaves. |

It is a shame. It really is. Like I said, No pastor born of the union between a man and woman can tell me otherwise about tithes and offerings. If you think the reason to give is because you want a miracle or because you want God to bless you, please pay. All the tithes and offering we pay should be enough to make God intervene in our poverty and penury we live in. As a matter of fact it would seem that the more the churches we have in Nigeria, the poorer the people are becoming and the worse the country is becoming. Also the more people commit evil IN THE NAME OF GOD. Even if the bible clearly stated that people should not pay tithes, Nigerians in particular and Humans in general will still pay to someone. Because I see no where the early Christians or Christ and his follower put on white garments, went about barefooted, bowed to Mary in obeisance or in honor of her, prayed through any saint, demand for tithes, or went about disturbing the neighborhood. LIKE I SAID, NO PASTOR, NON ALIVE NOW AND NON TO COME IN FUTURE will do all this abracadabra to me. You wont touch me and I fall and you wont see my tithe or first fruit. It is a handsome sum, but it is not meant for you! Those that are in real need will get their needs met as best as I can. You can never sow fear in me about canker worms, because I wonder why the canker worms do not attack Bill Gates and Dangote and the majority of people in Europe, America or Asia who do not believe. As a mater of fact they have a better standard of living than practically every Nigerian. You cannot sow fear about my Uncle being a wizard or my Aunt being a witch or that evil arrows are flying around me. You cannot tell me to bring a white handkerchief to church or buy a special oil. You cannot tell me that I need to pray against any flying arrows from my colleague at work, because another pastor will tell me that what he sees is a python coming to swallow me, while yet another will say it is an ancestral alter or shrine. And then I ask are all these men getting all these varying messages from the same GOD?! Really? So na only me waka come wey God dey give una conflicting messages? Religion, cults, sects and other such groups have come to stay. They will forever be part of human existence. But as long as you do not try to shove your fantasy down my throat, then I have no problem with you at all. After all we celebrate Xmas even when we know Christ was not born on the 25th of December. So there are many more things we do just because it is generally acceptable to do so regardless of whether it is right or wrong. |

dabriggs:Well Christianity is a Faith and flies in the face of worldly logic. That is why God says we are not of the world. Our eyes are firmly set on Jesus who similarly faced many, many contradictions. When people pay certain offerings they are: Not looking at man, but are looking at God. They are principled after the fact that offerings are most times 'burnt', that is destroyed, that is consumed without recourse, that is unaccountable. Finally, that if a sacrificial offering is not 'painful', and depriving, then its of little value irrespective of the quantity. And much more. These things my friend will be impossible for a man of little faith to grasp thoughtless of an unbeliever. I dare to tell you that as the world gets harder and priests become greedy, our faith in the Word should grow stronger and we give even more to pull further away from the crowd. That is faith. |
