I think you should remove those phone numbers before your referees start getting irrelevant calls

In Nigeria of today, getting a job relating to your field is like a white elephant project. To think aloud about your predicament, See the kind course wey u go read sef, you come dey find white collar job? Madam let me tell you the gospel truth like the bible, if you keep searching for job in that your field in this country, you will grow white hairs trying. My advice to you is that you should find something else to do, or else you go drink garri taya.

Please also remove her phone number and email. All you'll get is spam.
Anyone who has something for her week reveal that here.
Re: S by Nobody: 9:17pm On Dec 14, 2014
One more thing: she could really help herself by trying to start something independent, if she's that smart. Just saying...

Maybe getting Self Employed will do the trick...

Personally, i feel she needs to consider the places she can work. She is 27 which means she can work in a some banks, some companies and can lecture. She needs to forget about her good grades and start applying. When she gets invites for test, she needs to study very hard. Read abt assessment criteria and types of questions being asked. Banks like gt, first bank, uba and others take people below 28 and above with their mscs.
She needs to read about recruitment styles, register with job sites like hotnigerianjobs and go for all the tests she is invited for. From her grades interviews should be easy so the main ish is passing the test.

That's a pretty impressive CV but its not functional, it doesn't really sell her.
1. I think she needs a new CV that is functional, she needs to emphasize her achievements and probably remove details such as state of origin, place of birth etc, those things really don't increase her chances of getting a job, they actually waste the time of the person going though the CV
2.I feel she should pick up a career in academia, she could probably talk to her HOD to see if there are internship or graduate assistant positions she can exploit.
3. Maybe she could start consulting for people on environmental issues. There is a lot of fuss about the environment all over the world now, and I think she could exploit that oppurtunity.

Wish her the very best. God bless

For crying out loud, she has a first class as well as a good master's degree. why did she not try to lay her hands on a lecturing job, probably in the university she attended. Six years is a quite a long time to have at least gotten something reasonable to do.
Re: S by musicwriter(m): 11:46pm On Dec 14, 2014
Are you aware you can employ yourself?.
Re: S by Nobody: 12:52am On Dec 15, 2014
Some people will start screaming let her employ herself,as if capital will fall from heaven..

If she has the means to self-employment,she won't be here..

Op,Are you sure she didn't get any employment for 6 years,or she's been selective in her hunt for employment?

Wow! Six years with this result?...lord have mercy!..I know it might not be easy without connections, but I feel she should dive into the agricultural sector full time, the government both federal and state, encourage farmers right now because of the plans in progress to diversify the economy, with this result, either she gets a position or gets a loan to start something, that is if she is ready to go back to her root..God help her!..which way Nigeria!
Re: S by Nobody: 5:34am On Dec 15, 2014
She should change location. I'm from Abia state I base in lag tho currently in Aba now for few weeks, and I found out that the state doesn't really have much to offer when it comes to official jobs and with her qualification I feel they might just be scared they can't pay her. So if she can change to somewhere that have got a lot to offer places like Lagos, abuja,Ph,ibadan and so on with her kind of qualification I'm so sure she will get something even if its not in her field....

I totally agree with you. The east offers barely enough white-collar jobs for the overwhelming population of job seekers. I stayed for three months without job over there in the east when I finished service.

It took me (plus God's grace) just 4 days to get a job here in Lagos after relocation. She should relocate and try get some office skills such as:
- WordPress (for content development)
- Social Media Management
- MS Office Suit (for general office jobs cuz I think it's missing in her CV)
- AND SOME OTHER FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS

Her CV is all about academic records and LITTLE or NO SKILLS. Employers are no longer interested in your academic achievements (at least that comes after). The system is already saturated with many academic achievers. They are now more interested in WHAT SKILL YOU ARE BRINGING TO THE TABLE.

With her academic achievements, course of study and interests;its best she pursues a career in academia.Let her spread her tentacles by applying for lecturing jobs in tertiary institions across Nigeria and not limiting herself to the school she graduated from.
Re: S by Giannakopoulos(f): 9:19am On Dec 15, 2014
(1)Critically looking,the person graduated in 2009,this is 2014,it's just 5years,minus NYSC,its 4 years.

(2)She must have "actively" spent about 2 or more years in PG school due to how Nigeria academic system is,thus giving her only 1.5 years(18months) free.

(3)I would say she's been for 18months without being employed and not 6 years as the OP says.

(4)My advice is, graduates shouldn't relent their efforts on applying for employments even while undergoing PG programs,if I must say, there are a lot of MSc holders with this predicament. We should be smart. Then finally to her, MSc is mainly for lecturing purposes(though I stand to be corrected),most firms don't look for an MSc degree except for experienced roles,so I feel she should apply to privates institutions, not necessarily in her state but all around the nation,& also pray.

Never discourage yourself by saying it's six years, because it's not up to that. You have a bright future.

I concur..I also feel she dddnt 'hussle' enough...ffs,loook @ her grades..y is she nt in academia wich I feel would b more fulfillin than a bank job..wat also are her priorities?I knw of a thousand scholarships for peopl in agriculture here in europe and I'm usually quite jealous when I see so many opportunities for agro peeps..and then she had a cgp of 4.93!!holy smokes..her degree was from a reputable univ in naija in d agro field and so let her start looking outside dis shores..agriculture is the in-thing nw overseas..she can even do another m.sc on scholarship in europe still in d agro field as sometimes our m.sc in naija may be looked down upon when applyin for phd

A sibling of mine had high grades in her agro discipline and then started m.sc asap in naija after youth service..few months into d program she got an erasmus mundus scholarship for masters abroad and then left dis shores and also abandoned her program in naija cheesy

Google this program 'erasmus mundus AFEPA'

I ll try and drop more links in her field of study for u or alternatively u can send me a pm.

But as said earlier wat r her priorities..if na husband things (as most of my igbo sisters prioriotize),then just chill in naija and hope for d best
**btw my sibling also finishd from d op's univ also

I will advise that she tilts towards management courses.

Management certifications cause she can work anywhere with that.

Or She should go into business.

I studied theatre, i majored in Public relations and work in a Call centre.

You know, I never gave thought in this your direction. But looking at it, I'd say this is one outstanding advice.
The lady would do better to apply for scholarships abroad, especially Erasmus Mundus. Given her grades and possibly intelligence, she could not only get this scholarship, but also excel so well that getting a job or position over there would follow immediately.

I also applied for the Erasmus Mundus thing after my undergraduates. Got sooo close, but didn't get the scholarship, just the offer. I took up a job in Nigeria instead though, abandoning the offer. But I have friends who got the Erasmus Mundus thing in other fields and I can tell you they are doing very fine now. None of them secured a job after graduation. HOwever, after their European masters, one now works with the Embassy and the other with an international institute.

A scholarship outside the country is definitely worth considering. But then, she may have other priorities that will make this unrealizable.

My advise for her since she a first class material let her start her PhD. Also she should check the spiritual aspect of her being MFM weekend deliverance is a good starting point. I have seen people who go for deliverance and the got their job instantly.
