My dear, nothing is impossible. There are top up courses you can go for and get a degree or even do the pgd and then a masters. Build up your cv and yourself, write a great proposal, get quality referees, and if you believe in God leave the rest for Him hand.

This thread would have been more meaningful if posters include their age , marrital status and occupation.

It will go a long way in encouraging some of us who think age is no longer on our side and with families to take care of.

Anything is possible if you believe.

Reporting for Duty.

They say in your undergraduate level you TAKE IN knowledge while at the post graduate level (especially Phd.), you CREATE knowledge.

Currently doing masters in (HSE)Risk Engineering. It is generally industrial Safety Engineering. Had a Bsc. In Geography and Environmental Management from Uniport.

My Phd. Will be in Environmental Engineering:Environmental Risks. Still searching for a research question before I seek a supervisor. I am hoping I can get one at FUNAAB or a good school close to Lagos when I return home.

You cannot do a PhD with just a research question.

Nice thread by the way

My dear I have HND, PGD AND MBA. Years back I tried 3 Universities for Phd but was turned down because I have HND. I went back to open university for a Bsc. Am now in my 2nd semester of 400L. Once am done with Bsc even before final result comes out I will quickly register for Msc management with my PGD management because MBA might not also get me a Phd admission.

cgp of 4 points and the best of 3.5 and above, depends on the department and area of specialization/available supervisors.
Second question, don't think so, preferably MSc..

At least a 4.00 CGPA,anything less than that will require you go for a MPhil first.

No you can't apply for a PhD with MBA.

Of course not, Sir. No where in my post did I say or insinuate this. But I first need to find an arear of interest first. I do understand and appreciate the fact that other things are involved. I mean this topic alone offers a lot of information already on the subject.

But I do need one don't I? And it is good getting one early based on ones interest isnt it?

You need minimum of 3.5 over 5.0 in MSc before you can apply for Phd.

With MBA getting Phd admission might be difficult. I also have MBA but looking forward to Msc management. My advice is that people should not bother about MBA instead go for MSc, since MSc management can also go for MBA but MBA cannot be seen as MSc in academic terms.

The minimum grade is 65% in your MSc before you can apply for PhD, minimum of 75% if you want scholarship or funding...If you school is using CGPA grading system just divide your CGPA by 5 to get the equivalent %....
MBA student CANNOT apply for PhD on Nigeria, but perhaps it's possible in other countries am not sure, hope this clears your doubt.

Back in the industry gathering experience. I ain't giving up yet, plan is to give it another shot before the end of next year - these onyibos must beg me and it MUST be FULLY FUNDED. Besides, professors with industry experiences are way way way better (I dey console myself) than those who spend 95% of their lives in the lab, abi na library, flipping through google scholar.

Why don't you apply to Canada as well, you have a better chance of getting PhD funding there. Over bias dey worry UK people

Is an emerging area of research in chemistry and physics in which a molecule is synthesised and used as a shield to protect light sensitive materials like human eyes, sensors and military hardwares from intense laser radiation. The material is expected to allow the passage of ordinary lights, but strongly attenuates the laser radiations.
The molecules are first tested in solutions and later on solid support or as a thin film.

sounds interesting.....guess you gonna use chemical vapour deposition to deposit ur thin films( or pvd)
