Actually I do have a focus, just need expanded views from multi disciplinary backgrounds that i may incorporate into what I already have to thicken the "Conceptual Framework"

Davidylan, thank you for your anticipated input.

I guess his PGD was to enhance his candidature for an MSc in IT, considering that his UG discipline is completely tangential. I might be wrong though, awaiting his response.
obinoral1179:
bro this ur combination looks na wa ooooo. But why did you choose to do PGD instead of going through MSC direct? Ur experience might help a brother here.

Thanks a lot.

nope. only the biomedical phds are funded and they are funded by the federal government training grants.

Err, most of the Ivy league Unis and highly ranked ones in the Midwest and West Coast offer full funding for Computing courses as well. I know about Harvard, Brown, Stanford, and Michigan.

University of Toronto also offers full funding.

Would we be diciplined enough to just ignore this guy? He has made his point but responding to his irrelevant posts would do this thread no good. Please, let us continue to keep this thread alive with felicitous recommendations that will help advance the careers of scholars. Thanks to you all.

Later this year, one of my professors propositioned me to send in my PhD application........but, I'm kinda not interested in his research interest tho.

It's hard to find a professor with the same interest as mine.

I like every aspect of research except the research report sad In my field, PhD holder's salary is freaking fantastic, that's the only thing that resonates with me every time I think of potential 7 years of PhD.

Big ups to all potential PhD holders and current PhD holders. E no be beans cheesy

Why didn't you do your PhD in Environment Toxicology with Professor Lawrence Ezemonye of UNIBEN? That's his core area of discipline. He taught me in my MSc.

Having the same research interests is definitely paramount! It will determine the kind of opportunities you will have during and after the program and the bonding you will have with your Supervisor. Another tip for applicants is to make sure you strategically choose your Supervisor; don't allow the school to select one for you! My first choice for a Supervisor left the school for a UN job and so my school chose a Supervisor to replace her. It was hell because we didn't have anything in common. I battled to change my situation, the battle is ongoing smiley

what ever happens don't do MSC in FUTO
Why would you say such of FUTO?
If you had an encounter with a particular department, you don't begin to smear the image of a great institution like FUTO. Sort yourself out as FUTO is one of the best schools in Nigeria.

My sister is aspiring to study Law. She is 18 but not yet in school. She has secured admission into Ife though. I am a tad worried about the career prospects in her discipline as I do not really have anyone who can mentor her around. I know Law is a prestigious discipline and that she is ardent on becoming a preeminent advocate in the future, I just do not want her to make the wrong decisions. She is into cosmetology now pending the time her school resumes for a new session in May. What is your advice on how to maximize her potentials as a law student? I would appreciate a well detailed recommendation, ma. Thanks.

BSc, Physics/ Geophysics
MSc, Applied Geophysics
PhD, Environmental Geophysics ( prospective)

Got admission in early 2013, but couldn't push on for some reasons. Now I want to re-apply next year, but I'm considering a different school now (Unical).

What is your proposed research focus area?

Do you know what I will do if I have the opportunity to become the president of that country?! I will ignore PhD certificates from Nigerian universities and go by experiences and skills. I think many Bsc holders can do better jobs than most of you here. That is a big shame though!
