Thanks for the response,I was curious cos people were listing epidural as an option when listing CS fees.. I'm not being sarcastic but I've had two(1st was an emergency while the 2nd was elective) so I know what it feeeelllls like. I felt like having an out of body experience within the 1st 12hrs on both occassions cos the pain was real gangster.
I'm getting ready for no 3(& final) and making enquiries to guide budgetting.
Thanks once again.

Nb. I've already reached out to dr fagbohun and he has given me a breakdown, I also got two other nigerian drs on healthgrade that I intend to reach out to for comparison.

They are only breaking down the cost so that we people know what they are paying for not saying its is optional when is come to CS per say, or they have listed it together with the Natural delivery where epi is optional...

If you fly direct, there is the tendency that immigration officers are fully prepared for a plane load of Nigerians, coming from Nigeria. Do the maths.

Regards the comment of @megastu above, people that flew direct flight from Nigeria can shed more light, share their experience and their opinion as well

Was just wondering,is there a reason people dont like flying Delta or united? Because for me personally, nothing beats direct flight. O ! Its just that on this particular trip i have something to pick up in Duba, thats why i'm flying Emirate

Delta for me all the way. Becoz I get miles.and get to fly free within American, Canada and Mexico. So Delta all the way!

Lol thats just another myth and story. Even if u fly to Australia b4 heading to the US, the border officer sees ur originating departure which is Nigeria on his screen. So direct or indirect, doesn't really make a difference. Coz u could be 200 passengers on the indirect flight originating from Nigeria too.

You can research on emergency appointment booking with the US Embassy, think you need to meet certain criteria to qualify for this or u pick d first available date which is mid or end of January while u look for a better option.

happytbaby pls can i apply from a different state not mentioned above? like idaho. do i follow same process? again can my newborn travel to nigeria with only naija passport?

No dear, you cannot apply outside any of those places because Nigerian embassy does not have offices elsewhere in the US.

You need to collect your baby's American passport and then send it to one of those offices for a Nigerian visa. I don't know how far Idaho is from any of those offices so I am guessing you might not be able to travel there.

Ha haaaahhha! I laugh like a small radio.

I thought BA was the worst until I got to Maynard Jackson airport (ATL) and BA told us that the flight was fully booked and offered to put us on a Delta flight straight to Lagos.....it was the worst flight of my life. I cannot begin to chronicle the list of faults and below-standard condition of the lavatory....

The Arab airlines (Qatar, Emirates and Etihad) are the bset in terms of service quality...if you can manage the long distance, please go for it.

Between which...why are we so uncultured?

The major ish is that these airlines treat flights going to Nigeria in an abominable way because of the way we present and treat ourselves.

Lol when I dey tell una say BA is the worst airline flying to naija, una no wan hear. The days of BA being the best, has long gone. It's like they send their worst planes and hostesses to Nigeria. It's terrible!

please could anyone help with where i can pierce my baby's ear here in atlanta, everyone keeps saying till after 2 months or after immunization…..she is just 2 weeks old…..or any peadtrician that can doit before 2 months.

Its against the law to do it before the baby receives DTAP vaccine (anti-tetanus is important). However, you can wait till your baby is bigger just before you leave the states and go to any Claires shop, you should Google the closest one to you, you can act like your baby is already 2months. I believe its less painful to do it there than in Nigeria....

Speaking of Arab airlines, does any one have experience with Qatar airline? How is their policy for pregnant women? And do they fly El paso route? No one seem to talk about them on here.

This is not a myth. I know this for a fact that at least from a UK VO that they have yearly quota per country and when they reach that quota, they only grant for exceptional cases so I belive this approach is taken by US and other countries
Ok cool, no qualms.

I have been a silent reader & have learnt a lot from dis wonderful forum which I used for my visa application. I & my family were interviewed yesterday 18th dec but were denied based on section 214b( dt applicant does not have a strong tier) d VO says we did not qualify, he didnt even check my doctor correspondence nor statement of acct. He also aked if I have anybody in usa and I stated NO, dt I wud rent an apartment, I dont know if that is d reason I was denied. I intend reapplying but I'll go to abuja. Dis VO's can be so annoying afta all d stress & preparations.

Profile free now after being banned (by anti spam BOT) for 1 day for posting names and contacts of several obgyns in houston hospitals.

I didn't read anywhere in the forum rules that posting such was illegal. I thot this thread was about sharing information freely. It's all love still

I wouldn't suggest using a host relative necessarily. What you want to prove to the VO is that you are independently capable of funding your birthing venture in the US and proof of ties to naija to show that you will come back.

Flaunting a host relative may mean that you have a willing accomplice should you decide to remain in the US IMHO

Gurus in the House,
After hitting a brick wall in my Florida search I have decided to port to Houston.
I am narrowing down to either Oak bend in Richmond and Methodist Hospital in Sugar land, accommodation will be a deciding factor.

As per Tvegas advise, please can someone advise me on those who offer accommodation, feeding or transportation, or better side closest accomodation to these hospitals?

And please any April mamas bound to either if these hospitals/locations please let's plan together...

Thanks everyone for your insightful posts. I am a very new member of nairaland though I have often read without registering. It is this same issue of giving birth in the U.S that made me join the forum.
Please can people supply email addresses of doctors abroad who we can email for this purpose. I believe it's easier this way. Also I am looking for birth plans of 5000 dollars and under. Accommodation like 500-800 dollars a month. Even this its by faith of.
Thanks all for your reply.

And come to think of it, it is a very scientific way as you cannot keep it open ended as each nation has to control the limit of immigrant(be it temporary or permanent)

Let me chip in at this point that the information given to you by whoever the UK VO you met is by all means FALSE! it very well is a myth...

How you dey? You can mention the various costs without sounding like a marketer. You might be indirectly helping someone. I Just didn't wanna mention accomodation and car rentals but I will fully critique my hospital here later.
pls I want to know more about car rental in El Paso because am el pao bound in March and I will like to make my arrangement well especially transportation

Please take a critical look at your itemized bill and you can ask for an auditing of your bill. That bill of yours is way too much! Well except you stayed 4 days in the hospital + 4 hours in the labour room/recovery after delivery, if not please contest it. I noticed they make a lot of mistakes in favour of higher bills.

I think you should stick to your original story when reapplying, because they would have your original application on record moreover i dont think that your denial had anything to do with you having a relative in America or not. I think the issue there was " NO STR0NG TIES" . I also think you shouldd re-apply to Abuja this time around and do it without your husband,so that they would know you have a husband to come back to. I wish you all the best as you try again.
