SirShymex:How's Nigeria modeled after America? Why do you people love bashing the United States, have you all forgotten that the same Britain colonized both countries. You made a lot of sense in you post but abeg leave America out of it.....USA! USA!!USA!!!! |

waternogeteneny:No, I'm not interested in a culture that celebrates yam, caste system, and all kinds of primitive stuffs. I still can't get my head around certain aspects of Yoruba culture, yet you want me to add other stone age baggage to that, while buying a wife and making the whole village rich at the same time, no? I'm not interested, mate. ![]() Just speak the language of the place and assimilate into the culture. If you want to celebrate yam, or whatever you lot celebrate - you've got a whole region for that. |

[s] Justcash:[/s] Stop confusing yourself with the endless UNITY crap. We are not against unity hence our generous hospitality and brotherliness, what we are against is domination and dilution of out identity, culture and way of life and if I might add, needless insults, disrespect and shady acts of ungratefulness.. There's a clear difference between UNITY and Domination. In the video I posted pages ago, the Sardauna of Sokoto figured you people out and raised the alarm decades ago, but we looked the other way because of our welcoming and conciliatory ways which you people are now taking advantage of. Keep pushing if you must, but just be mindful per the fact that we all have our breaking point. We all know what happened when you pushed the North to that breaking point... |

SirShymex:Nansense! Shymex u are a bigot and it is not ur fault, u just have no life that is the problem. ur interest is inconsequential with regards to a multitude of cultures. Unlike the Islamic or Sharia system, these cultures are the exclusive reserve of those that are born into it and anybody that wants to join the practice and not forced on anybody even those born into it. They are lawful and are fundamental aspect of human rights. In the Nigeria constitution, it falls under "freedom to association,Freedom of Belief and Religion, Freedom of Opinion and Information, Right of Peaceful Assembly and Association and Right to Participate in Government and in Free Elections. U dont have to buy a wife becos nobody sells their daughter. Igbomen undergo the same right of passage called dowry(bride price). Shymex is there a law that mandates u to marry from the igbos? Must u marry from the igbos? If u don't like a people must u go and marry from them? Is that a healthy realtionship or life to live? Lagos is not yoruba. Nobody is dragging Ibadan or Akure with you. If u want yoruba culture only and people go to ur village and stop claimimg a City State. |

aresa:It is the survival of the fittest,of you ride, you will fall on the way side. This is not a tribal world,it is world that is propelled by intelligence and innovations, a world without limits and boundaries where like minded thrives together. Soon all those strategically located slums the Areas boys and girls are calling their natural heritage at at the momemt will be bought over by those with money to their names and they will be relocated to places like osun states or ekiti. Not even Ogun state because they place too is within the reach of Lagos expansion. It is the way life evolves. The law of nature, the law of natural selection. |

SirShymex:You probably felt very clever after this utterly delusional rant. You made a host of silly analogies of your e-battle over your land, with examples like Egypt and Native Americans and you think that portrays any knowledge of history? There are no such provisions in European civilization like you claim. You concocted that in your own distorted version of history. Autonomy for such ethnic fault-lines doesn’t exclude the participation of other residents. Else, I would love to see how this contributed to any of Europe’s greatest nations’developments today. You could take any of Germany, France and England as examples and outline how this worked in their system and contrast it with Nigeria rather than blowing hot air and thumping your empty flat chest. I honestly don't know why you're citing illogical examples to buttress your point. What's the correlation between the civili rights movement and indigenous folks co-existing within the same space? So, the struggle between two immigrant groups after the indigenous folks were destroyed can be equated to to this one, no? What rights and social justice are you fighting for in Lagos, questioning the language and tradition of the people, when you have your own region within the same country? How about start with your region, and show others how it's done? Oh, you still have intra-ethnic squabbles you can't fix - but when it's claiming other people's possessions, that's when the inconsequential American junk becomes applicable. It's basically greed and a case of trying to eat ya cake and have it at the same time. The analogy with the civil rights movement is a pretty good one. An example mustn’t have 100% similarities, especiallyas your own analogies were miles away from what the example you gave, but I guess your pedantism only applies one way. You had blacks who toiled and performed their civic responsibilities without the rights of full inclusion in the political process. You have other tribes (not just Igbos) inside a state who probably constitute as much as half, if not more of residents of the state and yet, electoral posts are 100% dominated solely by an indigenuous group, while appointed posts are well over 95% dominated by the same group. Why should that remain unquestioned if our constitution is fit for purpose and defends the equal rights of Nigerians everywhere? Who is questioning the language and tradtions of your people? What possessions of your are being claimed? Possessions you've sold away? I'm guessing that last sentence means you consider your mind one of the supreme ones. Did I mention there's nothing sadder than a pretentious, deluded poser on the internet? |

Remarkable:You are a certified cretin with an IQ barely above that of a sick rat. Do you know the meaning of apartheid? To this fool, he, too, is sharing knowledge on Nairaland but not his worthless sentiment. Can you read my comment: It's the people that make a political party a winning machine. If you have the majority, why beg? Just make APGA the winning machine.Remarkable fool, were the black majority allowed to vote in apartheid South Africa? Are the Igbo being disenfranchised in Lagos? Is there a law that says an Igbo can't aspire to be governor? This is the requirement to contest for the post of governor, where is it written that an Igbo can't contest? 177. A person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a State ifInstead of begging for position, if Igbo are the majority as claimed, they should assert that majority. The so called vociferous cries of marginalization is a subtle blackmail to get what their so called fictional majority can't deliver. What democracy can't bring, they hope, somehow, it can be achieved through mere agitation or sheer blackmail. Remarkable fool, instead of blackmailing Fasola and APC with your cries of maginalization, why can't you use your majority to elect Bob Okoroji of APGA? How exactly is Fasola, APC and the Yorubas stopping you from doing that? |

[s] Obi1kenobi:[/s] You're a stark illiterate and your idi.otic retort is no different from the emotional impulses which induced the useless letter by your folks. A tree doesn't grow far from its roots after-all. All symptoms of lack of deep-rooted culture, and history. So, in your obtuse mind - African American immigrants which have their history ingrained in slavery, fighting against social injustices from European immigrants, with an history ingrained in being slave owners can be correlated with a tussle between two indigenous groups, within the same country, no? I think I know a lot about Yoruba history, and I believe Yorubas never owned Igbo slaves. And Lagos wasn't built with slave labour. So, the onus is on you to provide academic proofs that Igbos were once slaves in Lagos, and the place was built with slave labour. Failure to do that would only show how much of an airhead you're. Also, if you ever passed through the four walls of a school, don't have a fundamental problem with simple English words, and a dissonance with reality and jejune tales - I believe you would know that "immigrants" and "indigenous" aren't interchangeable. Two completely different words. Again, what's the correlation between the tussle in Lagos and the idi.otic example you cited? Assignment for you, resident airhead: - List the number of English MPs in the Scottish Parliament, National Assembly for Wales, and Northern Ireland Assembly. |

redsun:Bruv, why are your folks always trying to cause trouble in Nigeria? Aren't they happy with the peaceful co-existence/relationship they enjoy with the Yorubas, cos it seems they only try all these stuffs with the Yoruba. I think certain Igbos group are indigenous to Delta state, yet the state is controlled by the Urhobos. And I'm yet to see Igbos go against them. Ditto Rivers and how the Ikwerres and Ijaws control everything. However, in far away Yorubaland where they have no entitlements whatsoever part from sharing the same nationality. They always feel a sense of entitlement to everything. Why is that? |
