Bro...if you had simply snapped pictures or better yet...run video of the officers involved and post it on social media it would be helping to bring about change. People have done that before and got these criminals fired. A video is more effective than just complaining to the wind.

I wonder why d Nigerian youths are just so all about this ''change'' lyk it's goin 2 come from heaven....

I pity us though

Question is...what change is he willing to bring?
.
Barrack obama used "change" as his second campaign slangs and was re-elected into office..and he stated clearly the type of changes America needed...
.
Another person....(Far from my memory) made use of the word "change" and it was successful...he also gave instance of what changes he was willing to stake!
.
So buhari wants to use the word "change" to see if it'll work for him... Which I know it won't!

I am not a pessimist, I don't think negatively, I know he will win, almost every Nigerian wants change. Truth be told, if Buhari loses, then it's over for this country. This is our last chance, if we fail to take it, generation yet unborn will curse us and never forgive us.

I don't know what will happen to Buhari if he loses but I know what will happen to Nigeria, the country will forever be doomed with GEJ at the top.

sorry for the way you're treated, this is a common practice in Nigeria. most of my colleagues do this, I was forcefully transferred when I stood my ground against it in maiduguri, I've fined a foreigner b4 because he doesn't have papers but I've never collected a dime from a proven Nigerian, I always advice people to move around with a means of identification because of the peculiar situation we found ourselves. I know someone will ask y I shouldcollect money from illegal immigrants.
1. when you arrest them, there's no logistics on ground to repatriate them.
2. when u eventually take dem to office, d boss will collect d money and release them.
3. most of them are purely for business purpose, so y not allow dem to do their biz and leave.

next time, tell such officers that you're not parting with a dime in ur own country, demand to speak to a superior officer and make dem interrogate you. speak out, don't keep quiet. no-one should be extorted in his/her country

At the Airport, that is how they keep extorting money from individuals traveling out of Nigeria, especially if it's your first time to travel abroad. NIS is worst than the Police now oo. The Civil society and Government must do something about it b4 it's too late. VERY WICKED PEOPLE!!

These people are very stewpid.. Seriously, if u get to the border, u'l jst feel like shootin those mutherf*ckers. I wonder weda the salary isn't dat enof for 'em or they are jst purely gullible. They are very dirty both physically and morally. These people are a whole shame to Nigeria, they exect ppeole to stamp passport @ d rate of 500naira, whereas, u can bypass that process by jst givin 'em 100naira.
The question is, shld i jst be byassin by payin total of 200naira or following due process by payin 1000naira. Tho av never paid a dime @ d border since 1991 till date. F*ck 'em all

Lol, I had this experience some years back when I was coming from cameroon I misplaced my passport, inshort my whole bag was stolen in the train when I had this fun vacation in cameroon, I sha used my nigerian smartness and clues to get pass lotta immigrations into borno finally and breath an air of relief that am home no issue with immigration again and board a bus to kano.

The driver kept asking me in this tattared hausa english about my passport I just look at him with this weird eyes like 'abi this one dey craze ni,my passport to enter bus in nigeria' I just kept mute and sat in the front with him.

When we almost left borno there was road block and immigration officers waved us and came to the bus and start asking for passport some cameroonian guys were in d bus and some presented and some dint! I looked the other way and saw loads of very dark guys sitted on the floor surely they maybe niger/cameroonian etc guys trying to get into nigeria.

The guy came to me and asked for my passport I said I dnt have he said I should come down and walk to the other side where those guys sat and tell the boss I dnt have passport, immedietely I got there the man said I should sit with the guys I immedietely replied 'when am not mad,sit down on the floor with foreigner' he was like if I give u dirty slap u will sit there I replied boldly 'if I give me 1 slap I swear to God I will give u 99' ... That was when they all stood up and start trying to form forcing me,I held one on his neck tightly and he shouted till there boss came and asked them to send me insyd his office and tried asking me questions about nigeria and lagos to ascertain if truly I was nigerian and when I even spoke yoruba he said some cameroonian understands yoruba than me sef lol.. And he asked me some areas in lagos and how to get there and I gave detailed description and he said okay I can go and said he knew I was nigeria the fact that I fought the officers when they tried treating me like foreigners lol...

When u know your right stay your ground. If I passed that area in kano I won't pay 1 kobo infact I wee organise my own checkpoint sef for the side because I know people like u will still passby! Money Must be Made #Maga Must Pay Lmao

No pictures?

Viscy:
It was a beautiful saturday afternoon. I was travelling from Kano to Abuja through a commercial vehicle together with some other passengers. When we arrived at a check-point along Kano-Kaduna express road, we are intercepted by an officer of the Nigeria Immigration. He commanded all the male passengers to step down from the vehicle. We obeyed and was led to the other side of the road where we were handed over to another officer.

The officer told all of us to squat down; for no reason. All the passengers obliged but I refused and was about to protest before he shouted at me; I didnt know when I join the others. I actually felt humiliated like a common criminal. I figure it was wise to yield considering the fact that I was on the highway, in middle of no-where and helplessly defenceless.

Afterward, we were told to bring out our National I.D or drivers licence. Those that do not have were forced to pay N200 or threatened with 5 hours of detention. I Identified myself and was released.

What is really annoying with their operations is that their mission out there is to forcefully extort money from travellers in the name of identifying and arresting illegal immigrant. Of cause, it is obvious that a dangerous illegal immigrant can comfortably cruise around the country just by flinging N200 to those shamless uniform men.

I like to use this medium to call on the attention of the appropraite authority on the day-light robbery perpetuated by men of the Nigeria Immigration. Tax payers fund should not be wasted in paying the salaries of some corrupt individualss that are out there causing inconviniency to same tax-payers on the road. If they don't have any meaningful task to do, I humbly suggests that they should layed off or better still, deploy to Maiduguri where their energy and guns would be usefull.

i like some parts of your comments and dont like other parts. You said you fined, but if the money entered into your pockets then it means you took bribe, not "fined" as you delicately put it. Where could possibly be worse than maiduguri? and finally there are no half measures, if you dont do it to nigerians, then dont do it to foreigners, arrest them anyway and let all the other logistics you mentioned be someone else's headache. btw, why are immigration officers armed? inside the country and not at the border.....na wa oooooo

I understand your point, but it has become a norm to charge immigrants, this is not the practice only in Nigeria but a worldwide practice. the office will complain they have no manpower and logistics to repatriate those foreigners. d other time I went to Cameroon, I see what they do to Nigerians. they even threaten to kill you if you dont oblige to their demand. extortion can never be eradicated in immigration formations worldwide because one way or the the travellers will erred.

I beg to differ, please pardon my cliché that when the head is rotten, the entire body is as useless as it can be. When the captain of the ship surrounds himself with people of questionable characters, when the commander in chief tells you that "stealing is not corruption" when the IG of police abuses power with impunity to satisfy his paymaster, then we are bound to keep on having these set of useless uniformed people that harassed the OP in our system. That is why people, and I mean a lot of people are clamouring for change, irrespective of who or what brings it. Like you pointed out, that change will not come from heaven, but for starters, we need a need head that is that can see and appreciate how corruption has brought this once beloved country on its knees.
