In my own opinion i think 5,000 naira is too much especially when we know that 2,500 naira can actually guarantee some age group a cover of 500,000 naira.and i dont want to believe that any unity school pays up to 200,000 as school fees.
My last school fees was NGN5600.00 as a boarding student and I finished in 2008. So yeah the school fees is not much. That is supposed to be free. Cos basically Unity Schools are free schools.

I think it's better for the PTA association to handle the security of secondary and primary schools than one insurance or wen police officers.

Let them contribute that money to get vigilante groups like opc to guard the school down west and all other areas like south, north.this is better as the security is in the hands of parents and vigilantes. Donation money to the government to secure he livs of our kids is just like giving your kids to an unknown entity to watch. Let them hire ciglantes to guts schools. Goveent can secure our kids. Simple. No to this.

FGGC----Federal Government Girls College is a unity school
The insurance scheme is supoze 2 be a good project if there can use the money for what it is meant for.
And it is also the duty of the states and private sector 2 adopt the project and provide maximum security for the students...
Federal Government dont have 2 do it all
.
Remember during the Ebola outbreak, some private schools had to hire Medical doctors to carry out test on their students.believe me,it was not because there really wanted to do it but because since the federal Govt had ordered that all schools be shut down indefinitely, there were not goin to be shut down when there should be making money from the students.

Lazy solution to a problem... security challenges in schools?.. just impose insurance on students! What has the FG done with regard to the new security challenges brought by Boko haram to school in Nigeria? do these schools have electricity (with standby generators?), how secured are the school environment? how about trained security men at these schools?

Is the FG more concerned about compensating the families of these students than preventing their kidnapping?

I don't even know if the insurance underwriter actually did a risk assessment of these schools before coming up with N5,000 policy.

parents have not been paid 3-4 months salaries and you want them to cough out 5000 naira, that's despicable and inhumane, only a dumbo can allow that.

It is really unfortunate parents are being compelled to pay this levy,Goodluck Jonathan should know he has lost most of the votes of Nigerian parents through this i'll conceived action, that was done to enrich Jimoh Ibrahim.
I forsee chaos on Sunday(Resumption day) National PTA had told parents not to pay the extra 5k and a lot of the parents would come to drop their wards with fees less the 5k.(Unity Schools only accept Managers cheque from designated banks).

The kind of resistance (coupled with the fact that the unity school workers are yet to receive their December salary) I saw yesterday, they might not admit students who don't pay

The only thing i'm happy about this policy is because it has put the nail in the final coffin of Goodluck Jonathan been re-elected. He shouldn'nt underestimate the anger of Nigerians Parents.

They should tell their wards not to resume to school. Let the teachers educate empty classes and blackboards

So Buhari was responible for the immigration deaths and collecting N1000 from unemployed jobseekers? You need to reason properly, when Buhari comes to power he will improve the education system so people like you can benefit from critical thinking skills.

Jimoh Ibrahim is the biggest Billionaire fraudster in this country. Scheming off poor people to enrich himself.
All the national assets that he fraudulently acquired, from airlines to hotels to Nicon Insurance has been run aground.
Why can't Nicon go out and offer genuine policies like other companies do?
He always have that evil genuis that benefits only him and the corrupt govt officials.

The challenge is that there are so many illiterate/not ver aware folks who won't understand the issues and vote along tribal/religious lines.

Many. An they're not on the internet per se.

There is a lot of campaigning to do.on the streets if you are tired of this kind of poo the FG keeps handin down to Nigerians.

PDP/GEJ are thieves!

Now I believe GEJ is on a mission to bankrupt and pauperize Nigeria and Nigerians.

A government that has failed to provide security which is one of her primary duties should definitely be the one paying for their insurance!

And if the parents must be the ones paying, it shouldn't be compulsory.

625 million Naira yearly! Haba, make una fear God oooo!
hian, dear God ke, these hungry greedy bastards that have role their souls to the devil.
