Words can be twisted to fit in to our points. What if I also ask. You never supported the biafra agenda and now u support this, now u see my point.
And you think I have never supported Biafra agenda? What makes you think so? Nigeria is a mere geographical expression, anything that will correct the pseudo marriage is what I will gladly support.

Those that dont know about the UN voting, have probably never heard of veto votes possesed by 5 countries in the world.Whether Nigeria voted or not, USA will still veto the nonsense.
Does it really matter if we voted?

Besides, why should we continue to put other countries interest before Nigeria's? This was exactly how we frustrated business from UK and USA from coming into Nigeria to help develop our economy, in order to fight for South Africans. Today, they are one single group that hate Nigeria so much!

Nigeria's interest must be protected first before any one else's.

To think some Igbo brothers will go against the liberation of a set of people, go against their independence and at the same time wish they had Biafra is rather unfortunate.
To think you people hate for Biafra to be a sov'reign state, and then wanna vote for Palestine to be sov'reign.
If Nigeria voted Yes, brother, Biafra will be upon u like "are they for real?"..
If Nigeria voted NO, it wouldn't make sense.

In as much as it pained me that we couldn't vote YES, I still considered that US would have vetoed it anyway, making everyone that voted look ridiculous.
Let me educate you....................When U.S wanted to invade Iraq, Yemen voted NO, U.S representative just went to Yemeni representative and said to him, "Mark it this day, this NO vote will be the biggest mistake your country have ever made".

Right now, we stepping on uncle Sam's toes is a NO NO.

It was better we abstained.

These people don't get it. Nigeria's foreign policy should not be based on religion, we are not Saudi Arabia or Iran.
Exactly, but let them have their say. That is democracy. Do you have any problem with that? Or don"t you get it?

.let me throw this back and see how it sounds. You never supported the biafra agenda and now you support this, saying Nigeria always stood on the side of freedom, now how ironic. It indeed shows ur own ability to prioritise
Ojukwu did not mention anything like Biafra but only objected to Gowon taking the mantle of leadership after Ironsi. He declared Biafra and tried to annexed parts of what he left out of Biafran map! That was agression and attempt to invade and occupy and not a fight for independence.

After he absconded to Cote d'voire, his liutenants surrendered and re-affirm that loyalty to the soverignty of Nigeria as citizens.

If they were fighting for an independent Biafran state Ojukwu would have stayed that course!

This is how they sold Abiola to his death for bread. This is why politicians there campaign with rice. This is why Buhari beat and imprisoned Awolowo and they are campaigning harder for Buhari today than anyone alive, but when Achebe said Awolowo was looking out for Yoruba interests, it was a 6 month media war because Achebe had died and attacking him wouldn't require any courage.

I like them as a people but when their mind is unveiled by the wayward nature of their baseless political thought..I realize that we're fundamentally different. They simply don't make sense.
So your history isn't with worse stories?
Yorubas don't live in the past neither have they forgotten the past.
That's why you can't understand their politics.
Its definitely not for the simple minded.

The Prof guy doesn't know what he is saying, Nigeria did not VOTE!
She was Neutral, and that's okay to satisfy both the Christians and Muslims in this country.
Now come to think of it, what relationship exists between Nigeria and Palestine sef?

Maybe, when a Christian Part of Saudi Arabia decides to break away and call for the total Annihilation of Saudis, Nigeria should remain Neutral too...
Palestine is still a part of Israel PERIOD! And they must continue to live in peace under the Israelli laws not Sharia law.
It's just like one Igbo community in Lagos springing up and asking to be carved out from Lagos and recognised as a state of her own in SW Nigeria.
there are no christians in saudi...israel is stealing palestines land and kiling her people thats against the human rights the us stands for..there was no israel in 1910 ask the zionists

Nigeria simply abstained, meaning, we are " not for or against". Our foreign policy is non-alignment & that was what we did.

Ikengawo:
While Israel has offered us weapons, experts and assistance in tackling Boko Haram, even at the caution of the US..the arab world's relation to the issue is possible sponsorship. The Libyans have sold the weapons they're using to kill themselves to terrorists in Mali and Nigeria, showered on them by the ignorance of the United States. The Saudis have blocked Nigerian flights from entering their airspace once we started buying weapons from Pakistan (should be noted that Pakistanis are not Arabs). Now the want to make noise because Nigeria recognizes Israel and not Palestine.

While there are arabs and their lackeys in Africa killing and enslaving black africans every day they want us to stand in adversity to one of the only nations that has offered Nigeria assistance in these trying times.

Let Palestine offer us assistance and help before we can do the same. As it stands we'll work with those that work with us, not against.
On point

Goodquestion:
You should have such questions at the back of your mind that, what if we voted and grant them their freedom and their enemies Israel,USA, Britain & other friends of Israel decided to go against us? Or what if it was that Nigeria voted against them? Think beyond personal gain pls, if the Muslims did not vote for him and we live in peace without external enemies is better that shooting the Israelis and their likes just to win election that the external enemies will fight against the country for not standing out. What i read up there was that Nigeria did not vote. PLS Understand that we are developing countries, we must not do things others are doing. THEY DID IT FOR ME AND YOU, SO ENJOY THE PEACE WHILE IT LAST PLS LEAVE SENTIMENT OUT. We have a war in our hands already why should we create more? I came here to blame Nigeria for not voting but rather through the comments of the well educated and less myopic individuals we have here, i retrieved my stance.
Agreed, if Nigeria had voted yes, there would have been repercussions from Israel and her allies. But it's not every time America bark that will must jump. We must also think of what's good for us and not Israel and her allies.

Did Nigeria maximise enough gains from this? Are the gains enough to offset the loss of abstaining from voting.

The truth of the matter is that I don't trust our government to negotiate successful in our own interests.

Nigeria is not an Islamic state. Oloyede should stop his campaign for Palestine. The best Nigeria could have done is to abstain from the vote which she did.

This is an International politics. Nigeria at the moment has her hand full of crisis already.

Let Palestinians sort themselves out.

The era of playing big brother africa is gone.

Omo, I guess u are a muslim oo! But u really impressed me....neutral and made a lot of sence.
joeyekembele:
I can't figure out what is actually wrong with the Muslim umma, evenly the academia. It is funny why a professor would link a foreign policy to a religious inclination. I am disappointed at prof Isaq and his irrational write up here. What would he say about Saudi Arabia denying Nigeria a landing Permit so as to bring procured arm from pakistan? If Boko Haram ain't an Islamic arm wing, why would Saudi Arabia do that to us simply because the arms are meant to fight the Boko Haram? Again, it is unfortunate that a professor would see Israel as a Christian state. I put to the clueless professor that the body he represents or chairs is not recognised by the Hausa Muslim as no Hausa Muslim recognises a Yoruba man a true Muslim talk more of making him a head of a religious body. Allow the government to handle all foreign affairs of this magnitude as we have all to gain being in the side of Israel than Palestine.

On the one hand, you want Yorubas to drive away Hausa-Fulanis from Ilorin; while on the other hand igbos like you want to be treated like southwesterners in the southwest, or at least as citizens of Nigeria.

What did I miss?
you are trying to confuse yourself.

there are igbos in lagos, they are not obas.
there are igbos in kano, they are not emirs
there are yorubas in onitsha, they are not obis
etc. etc.
why is there fulanis in ilorin that are emirs?
