Enrollees' beneficiary rights

• During registration, individuals have the right to choose any primary health care provider(PHCP) of his/her choice
• A registered enrollee would be empowered with NHIS identity card/patient card for easy access to his/her PHCP
• A subscribed enrollee has the right to present card at the chosen HCP when they fall sick
• A subsribed enrollee has the right to qualitative health care providers without making any payment except 10% co-payment at the point of collection of drugs
• A subscribed enrollee is entitled to referral services from their PHCP and also from a secondary HCP to a Tertiary HCP as contained in th NHIS benefit package
• A subscribed enrollee has the right to change provider to another PHCP of his/her choice after six(6) months
• A subscribed enrollee who is dissatisfied with services rendered to him/her HCP has th right to make formal complaint to his/her HMO/NHIS
• A subcribed enrollee who falls ill outside his station has the right to access care from any NHIS accredited provider in that location upon presentation of NHIS identity card. The HMO covering that subscribed enrollee would later reimburse the HCP.

Must collect my card on monday.

I started this topic to educate and enlighten those that wanted to no more about NHIS but all my topics where cleared so am starting all over again. As I said in my previous post, I may not be able to check this post everyday but I would try to do that twice a week so if their is any question(s) please don't fail to ask and I will do my best to give answers to them.

NHIS is a health insurance plan programme for every individual in Nigeria. Our offices in lagos
> Lagos Zonal office: 443, Herbert Marculay way, yaba.
> Ikeja state office: 112, awolowo way, balogun bus stop, ikeja.

Various programs are:
1. Formal sector social Health insurance programme i.e it is a health insurance programme for employees in the public sector and organised private sectors(ops). Ops is a private company that has 10 staff and above. Formal sector covers staff, spouse and four biological children.
2. Volunty contributors social health insurance programme (vcship) is for individuals who do not work in formal sector or who do not belong to a community ot tertiary institute that is covered under nhis. Its cost is 15,000 yearly in bank draft in favour of national health insurance scheme. Vcship is gradually phasing out giving way for the NMHIP (national mobile health insurance program) which is inconjonction with the mobile communication industry like mtn etc.
3. Tertiary social health insurance programme is for students in tertiary institutes.
4. Community based social health insurance programme is for community's such as villages, market people, and groups with a member of 1000 people and above.
5. Pupil in public primary school social health insurance programme for students in public primary sch.

For any private organisation that may want to key into NHIS you can call me on 07030410822 (ikeja office)
That system is yet to be efficient. I stand to be corrected.
My reasons:
1. Hospitals are not been check-mated to ensure they standard of service they offer to your clients are up to standard.
2. There is no regular follow up between your org. and your clients to get feedbacks on the state of service they receive from hospitals.
3. Responses on issues raised by your clients are often not gotten on time sometimes not at all.
4. Your policies are not efficiently executed.
5. Awareness is not been created to let clients know their rights regarding the policy.
Your org. needs to wake up and get more serious

My topic for our inhouse training coming up in december 2014 is the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Program (TISHIP).
Am raeding towards it but just to make sure am totally ready for it I will appreciate any question concerning NHIS's TISHIP.
If you have any question concerning other programs you can keep them coming.
Am pleased to annouce the mobile health known as National Mobile Health Insurace Programme (NMHIP). Its is here to replace the VCSHIP which was N15,000. NMHIP is N12,000 annually. Was launched on 21st july, 2014. For now only MTN user can subcite to it but we are hoping thhat pretty soon other network providers will join. Dial *616# with you MTN line.
Pls I want to know more about dis NHIS; I work with a private organisation, how do I go about the registration; can I register my daughter and myself only? If yes, under what plan will I be going for and what is the cost of the total package?

Happy New Year!
Does NHIS cover ENT surgery such as Adenoidoctomy, Tonsility and Sinus surgery?.

Because at Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi-Airport Road, Abuja. They always insist that as NHIS enrolle, one must pay 4K before you be attended to by ENT specialist at the Hospital.

I spoke my HMO - United Heaith Care, they seem not knowing what to do. And I need to urgently see the ENT specialist for my baby. What can be done now? Thanks
the public sector cover pays for specialist consultation of 1k only and mayb ur HCP does not hv inhouse ENT and mayb day do invite d sugeou frm outside and he will collect like 5k

i was referred to luth from my school medical centre and was giving an NHIS form to submit to NHIS office in luth. from there a bill recording all my medical expenses was given to which will be covered by the insurance. That is, instead of paying the doctors, the price for the treatment. will just be recorded in the bill. I later submitted it back to their office as they will pay for the expenses.

There are 3 levels of care in NHIS.
1. Primary health care providers- they act as first point of contact and gate keepers. In other words, when choosing a facility, every enrollee has a choice to chose a primary health care provider(hospital). The primary healthcare has about 70% cases yearly.
2. Secondary health care providers- contact with them is through referrals via primary provider.
3. Tertiary health care providers- entry is through referrals via primary and/or seconary providers.

I will go on to discuss enrollee benefit packages, which people are eligible for each programme and how to register
hi,I attend unilorin,i got tis medical card from the school authorty. I want to know if its automatically NHIS.finally can treatment be administered outside the school's clinic.thank you.

There Is Limit To Liability For An Enrollee Under A Particular Plan And Also Maybe The Plan That Covers U Is Nt Comprehensive Enough To Cover Ur Antenatal Charges. E.G A Plan For Say 26k Cannt Cover For Ur Antenatal. Hence A Plan For Say 50k Will Cover For It.

There Are Hmo Dt Are Accredited By Nhis. The Nhis Makes D Cost To Be Affordable And Also They Still Run Their Private Plans.

If you work with federal government then ask from your collegues that are already registered or your admin dept to find out your HMO, they are the once to register u free with you and ur wife and 4 biological kids under 18years passport and also me for of identification.
If you work with a private firm with atleast 10 staff then your admin/ management would need to send to NHIS a letter of intention to join NHIS OPS programme. You can call me during working hours.

I guess your husband is coved under their private plan.
NHIS covers from antinatal, delivery (both cs and womanly delivery) and postnatal upto 12weeks.
