When Sudan and Arab Janjaweeeds burnt down South Sudanese indigenous peoples, killed and maimed indiscriminately, took captive and enslaved the weak, Arab and world Muslim umma didn't utter a word, not even a wimp. While South Sudan majority Christians were subjected to decades of dispossession and statelessness we never saw any outrage from Muslims here in black Africa's 'giant' Nigeria instead their humanity shamelessly took a flight. Of course they'll like to pretend but in the end we know why.

At any rate, I must state that for the first time ever, I'm proud of Nigeria's leadership for getting our nation's priority right despite the hollow umbrage by the most hypocritical and violent expansionist bunch of people who bow down before the most blood thirsty god since the dawn of time. Yes, I'm referring to MURIC, JNI, NSCIA, and other implacable islamists among us who have wittingly or unwittingly misconstrue Nigeria's OIC membership for Arab subservience, Islamic colony, and Dan Fodio's estate.

In case Islamists don't get it, I will remind them again that Nigeria is a non-aligned secular nation. That we're criminally part of a backward medieval organization called OIC doesn't mean we're stamped to sign off on Islamists quests.

Palestine deserves a state of their own, no doubt about that. But we will never do Arab and OIC dirty work for people (Muslims) who gloated and supported Bin Laden on 9/11 and shouted Allahu akbar when members of Madalla church were fried by BH bombs.

Nigeria as a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country must remain perpetually neutral in international politics, especially one in which different divides here at home share diametrically opposing views. Personally, I and majority of people I associate with have no desire to be dragged into Arab and Israeli quagmire or East vs West slug-fest. International politics is not about morality but about interests (ask Britain why they abandoned Poland in WWII), and going by what I know, where I am, and where I expect to be in future, I have no doubt that my interest and the interest of people I frequently associate with are better served by maintaining neutrality in international squabbles or at the very least leaning towards the West and Israel. It is for this reason that Nigeria must continue on its new found voice - neutrality.

We have our own wars here in the north east to fight - a war in which core northern Muslim fathers are enlisting their daughters for suicide bombing. Maybe if these hypocritical Muslims had not tied our fate and survival to US and Israeli help and weapons, we probably would have had the balls to take a different decision at the UN.

In the end I say this to Palestinian people: Wipe your tears. Where I come from we have a saying that a man who's house is on fire doesn't leave his home to extinguish his neighbor's burning house. To that end it's imperative you understand that we couldn't help you because, coincidentally, we've found ourselves under occupation by Islamic Arewa's Shekau and we needed weapons from Israel and US to survive - interests come first, remember? So, if you want to know who sucker-punched you I suggest you look at your beloved Jihad inclined umma who, in the last 5 years, have become our own ISIL and Janjawe*ds.
Pls come online as often as time permits. Its high time we disabused the minds of thousands of gullible Nigerian Youths indoctrinated by sickening propaganda from self-centred and self-acclaimed regional leaders.

That land belongs to Israel. Muslim are only squatters. God through General Joshua divided the land to the 12 tribes of Israel and nobody can take it from them. God bless Jonathan for taking that position. Long live Israel.

Nice one sir. You have made some valid points but speaking from experience, the average northern Muslim is a fanatic and will do virtually anything to enforce Islam.
While Buhari might indeed have no such plans for Nigeria, the same can't be said of his supporters up north. They see every religion as a threat that must be eliminated and I can cite several instances to support that.

Yes! I know Jonathan has not performed up to expectations but still, I ll prefer a president who can guarantee the relative peace the Christians in the south are enjoying over a president that can be easily swayed into fueling religious war.

I dare Buhari to come out boldly and say with his own mouth that no one will Islamatise Nigeria during his tenure.
The fate of this election depends on who the south west and middle belt support but religious extremism that may explode with a Buhari presidency has constantly restrained me from voicing my support for him.
This is the time for him to clear the air on this issue because he has been really quiet on the issue of Book Haram and Christian's persecution in the north!
God bless Nigeria
Are you sure you are a real yorubahuh I'm surprise some of you are immune the propangada virus spread by people like tinubu, lie muh'd and co. Keep it up! Objectivity pays in the long run. Though I beg to defer on the point that the fate of the election lies on the votes of the southwest. Middle belt: Yes, Southwest: I disagree (strongly)

People - especially my fellow Igbos who are shaming me here - that are trying to compare our situation with that of Palestinians who live a hopeless life of oppression, suppression and imprisonment on their own land are incredibly ignorant. You have to go through some history and current affairs and stop embarrassing yourselves just because you practise a colonial imported religion originating from Israel. You have nothing in common with Israelis. For your info, their intolerance of blacks as vermin in their society is well noted, so you're tragically mistaken if you think they have any kind of solidarity with you. Palestinians are basically living in an apartheid system that mirrors the situation of blacks in apartheid era South Africa. The world has a moral obligation to bring peace to them. And Nigeria, being the bumboys of the US that we've always been (even though they never show us the slightest bit of regard) have decided they would rather ignore the path of justice, just so that they do not offend their American masters. Shameful. sad

One important question for me is:

* what significance will Nigeria's vote had have? Is the vote tied at the moment and its Nigeria is holding the fate of Palestine - to be or not to be?

Is it by Nigeria vote?

However, I just hate people bringing religion and nepotism in our politics...shows we are still living in 1670 while the rest of the world is in 2015.

then why didn't GEJ vote for Israel?

Video below shows: Why Nigeria votes with the USA

dvee2:
A lot of people comment with sentiment without research or history? The question is why did America or Isreal find the need to pressure Nigeria to abstain from voting? This is not about OIC or Christian or Muslim, it is about a nation strategic interest and its stand vis-a-vis global stand against oppression/apartheid etc. If you look at more than half of the countries that voted for a Palestinian state are Christian countries. South Africa has more christian than muslims but they always vote and stand for the palestinian state. Nigeria has always stood for and stand by the palestinian state. The question now is why the shift in foreign policy? the answer is simple - GEJ.
We now have a president who views and take decision base on religion/ethnicity et al. He also can easily be pressurised and succumb to external influence.
How can you explain a president who just few days ago protest lack of assistance from USA and now succumbing to US pressure not to vote? Correct Nigerias vote or not voting will not change the outcome of the palestinian course because US would have vetoed it afterall, but why will US shift the onus to Nigeria? why cant Nigeria stick to their centuries old stand and allow US to veto the votes?
Once again GEJ by this vote has clearly shown how parochial he can be with his sence of reasoning. Once again this is not about christian/muslim, it is about a clear shift in our foreign policy.
Nigeria have always stood with the oppress in their foreign policy from the fight against aphartied and the rest. This administration has now change the course of our foreign deplomacy to be a reaction to christian or muslim nation. its a pity this is what we see even internally now.
Finally on the issue of joining OIC, who cares? what do the average Nigerian muslim gain from Nigeria being a member of OIC? nothing. However, remember just yesterday the Finance minister lectured that she is going to get a loan from the ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT BANK to help cushion the effect of the oil price slump. This i believe is the only reason successive government Christian/muslim have retain Nigerian membership of the OIC. It has nothing to do with Islamisation. Nobody can Islamise Nigeria. it is not possible and every sane mind knows that. but its easy to use it as a political tool, but nobody has the interest and nobody can islamise Nigeria. full stop.
