What's this private plan of a thing all about pls?

Private plan from any HMO is a programme organised by the said HMO in accordance with the money paid by individual or firm.
It is totally different from NHIS programme

My HMO is liberty blue by THT( Total Heakth Trust Ltd)..provides health care service that covers all treatment as the case may be..And no co-payment needed at the point of collection of drugs..so it is entirely free!..anyways it actually depend on the company u work!

Reason being that you are using THT's private plan and not any of NHIS programme

Is only public sector enrollees dat pay 10% co-payment on drugs bt private sector dnt pay

I have never heard of such program before in Nigeria.Hurray!! Something is working at home.
I am planning to move back to Nigeria later this year.
1.How do I go about registering with NHIS pls?
2.What are the available plans?
3.How much does each plan cost?

Will appreciate your response.

Thanks again.

You are very welcome.
1. Go to any NHIS office
2. Please read my second post in page 1
3. Depend on the plan you intend to go for. If its individual then it would be National Mobile Health Insurance Programme which goes for N12,000

Pls I want to know more about dis NHIS; I work with a private organisation, how do I go about the registration; can I register my daughter and myself only? If yes, under what plan will I be going for and what is the cost of the total package?

If your organisation has 10 staff and above You can enrol for NHIS Organised private sector (ops) programme which covers a staff(principal) spouse and 4 kids under 18years.the cost would be 5% of the staff cumulated salary (employer pays 3.25% while employee pays 1.75%). If you are in lagos you can call me.
or go for a the individual plan through the National Mobile health Insurance programme which is N12,000 per year per person. Dial *616# with your mTn line and follow the platform to choose

I have been working as HMO/NHIS Representative in Portharcourt for the past 5yrs. NHIS does not cover any infertility treatment. You are on your own when it comes to that. The 10% co-payment is paid at all secondary care and on all out patient treatments, you will pay that percentage.

Reasons: after registration, your name will be posted to the Nhis accredited hospital of your choice. Nhis thepays 750 naira on each enrollee monthly to the chosen hospital. This is also referred to as capitation payment. You are expected to maintain a particulaf hospital but If you are porting to another hospital, or on emergency basis.. You will be require to pay the percentage for all out patient diagosis until ur name will be sent to them.

Thank you.

i'm so happy for a thread like this and just want to ask few questions

1.i registered my ex-girlfriend as my dependant on the rumours that if you're not married you won't be eligible for NHIS,now im happily married and want to change her to my dependant. please how can i go about it?

2.it was rumoured in some quaters that NHIS cost administered per annum is #300,000 so once your treatment exceed the said amount you will have to pay for the rest.please how true is that?
3.on the green card that was issued to me on registration,ROSENBURG was written there and i think its the contractor if i'm right?. is there a law stating that i should be paid that said amount above if i didn't fall sick at all throughout the year? (afterall the money is allocated for my treatment as government official) lol!
please let me have your say on these issues........

I started this topic to educate and enlighten those that wanted to no more about NHIS but all my topics where cleared so am starting all over again. As I said in my previous post, I may not be able to check this post everyday but I would try to do that twice a week so if their is any question(s) please don't fail to ask and I will do my best to give answers to them.

NHIS is a health insurance plan programme for every individual in Nigeria. Our offices in lagos
> Lagos Zonal office: 443, Herbert Marculay way, yaba.
> Ikeja state office: 112, awolowo way, balogun bus stop, ikeja.

Various programs are:
1. Formal sector social Health insurance programme i.e it is a health insurance programme for employees in the public sector and organised private sectors(ops). Ops is a private company that has 10 staff and above. Formal sector covers staff, spouse and four biological children.
2. Volunty contributors social health insurance programme (vcship) is for individuals who do not work in formal sector or who do not belong to a community ot tertiary institute that is covered under nhis. Its cost is 15,000 yearly in bank draft in favour of national health insurance scheme. Vcship is gradually phasing out giving way for the NMHIP (national mobile health insurance program) which is inconjonction with the mobile communication industry like mtn etc.
3. Tertiary social health insurance programme is for students in tertiary institutes.
4. Community based social health insurance programme is for community's such as villages, market people, and groups with a member of 1000 people and above.
5. Pupil in public primary school social health insurance programme for students in public primary sch.

For any private organisation that may want to key into NHIS you can call me on 07030410822 (ikeja office)

I'm just wondering if that address is the headquarters of the NHIS. I also wonder why you didn't choose the Ilorin office instead or the port Harcourt office.

I need to appreciate UPMANAGERS for opening an educative thread like this one. There have been a lot of myths and corners cutting practices by people involved in managing people who are registered and we do hope you can answer these as we follow you on your threat. Nice work.
Someone talked about restrictions in terms of dependants : children limited to 4 and spouse limited to one. If you are polygamous or you have more than 4 children, you can actually pay an additional token per annum to make these people benefit from what the others enjoy in terms of health care. I'm sure UPMANAGERS can get us the exact amount and the registration process.
For every insurance scheme, there are usually limitations to the extent of claims; exclusions were included in the benefits under NHIS programmes to preserve the scheme. People who wish to have better coverage actually subscribe to premium plans that some HMOs offer.

I have been using nhis since 2011. The general impression all of us have in the office is that, If u are seriously sick. Better go to a hospital where u will pay money and be treated properly. These hospitals, because they know that u are not paying instant cash, they tend to treat u with levity. A personal experience, I was made to sign a whooping 15000 naira for malaria treatment. I wasn't even given bed. Just an injection. The next time I was sick, I just went to a pharmacy shpoint and bought an ACT. Summary is, the poor attitude of hospital attendants to NHIS patients is very discouraging and If this initiative must thrive, this issue must be addressed As a matter of urgency.

Thank u

NHIS headquaters is at plot 297, shehu yaradua way, utako district, abuja.
I put lagos zonal office address because am lagos and ikeja state office address because that's my office.

For federal government staff and Organised Private Sector (OPS)
A principal with more than one wife or more than four children can enrollee them under him as his/her extra dependants. Other people that fall under extra dependants are the principals sister(s), brother(s), parent(s), inlaw(s).
To do this, the principal gets a commercial bank draft worth N9000, payable to National Health Insurance Scheme.

Happy New Year!
Does NHIS cover ENT surgery such as Adenoidoctomy, Tonsility and Sinus surgery?.

Because at Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi-Airport Road, Abuja. They always insist that as NHIS enrolle, one must pay 4K before you be attended to by ENT specialist at the Hospital.

I spoke my HMO - United Heaith Care, they seem not knowing what to do. And I need to urgently see the ENT specialist for my baby. What can be done now? Thanks

You should be able to consult any specialist under the scheme without paying a kobo. Talk to your HMO

That system is yet to be efficient. I stand to be corrected.
My reasons:
1. Hospitals are not been check-mated to ensure they standard of service they offer to your clients are up to standard.
2. There is no regular follow up between your org. and your clients to get feedbacks on the state of service they receive from hospitals.
3. Responses on issues raised by your clients are often not gotten on time sometimes not at all.
4. Your policies are not efficiently executed.
5. Awareness is not been created to let clients know their rights regarding the policy.
Your org. needs to wake up and get more serious

Then you must have been dealing with fakes. Step up your game and demand your rights

Where do you stay, like your state of residence? Yes, you can register your daughter, even your grandma and driver. Just about anybody you want to register in the private plan.

Then endure their incompetence silently. The reason why there is a regulatory body is for hospitals who may want to cut corners and engage in sharp practices. You should report such hospitals to your HMO who will take it up from there. If you don't, and nobody does, it goes on and you have to just "enjoy" it

Sorry about that. But did you get intouch with the hmo to know the reason they refused to take responsibility?

There Is Limit To Liability For An Enrollee Under A Particular Plan And Also Maybe The Plan That Covers U Is Nt Comprehensive Enough To Cover Ur Antenatal Charges. E.G A Plan For Say 26k Cannt Cover For Ur Antenatal. Hence A Plan For Say 50k Will Cover For It.

There Are Hmo Dt Are Accredited By Nhis. The Nhis Makes D Cost To Be Affordable And Also They Still Run Their Private Plans.

My health plan for N14,500 will cover antenatal, delivery even if its CS! And I am not joking!
