Well, I am aware of the age of this thread and have read every single post here. Though I an an active nl user, I came by this page via Google as I endlessly seek a solution to my car's over-heating troubles.

It is a 2000 model Infiniti G20. The temperature needle begins to climb above the middle area and even threatens to hit the roof after 60 to 90 minutes of driving with the a/c on- usually in hot afternoons. But as soon as I put the a/c off, the temperature begins to return back to the mid point. This has kept me looking for answers everywhere. Please help me.

Basic facts:
i. The fans are working (I have now connected them directly to forestall any 'eventuality')
ii. The Radiator remains filled. Reservoir coolant level is consistently at 'max' level.
iii. My radiator is single cell.
iv. This only happens when the a/c is on and outside temperature above 30°.
v. The car is an auto transmission
vi. The radiator cap is not leaking.

Siena, Nissparts, Trac, Fatai2, excolanto, and all car enthusiasts in the house please come in and show some help.
EXACTLY same happened to my Honda accord 97.it eventually normalised after I had my radiator cleaned/washed of debris.

This is indeed bullshit. Tropicization my foot. A quick question, in cities like Windsor Ontario, do they change their radiator to double cell and remove their thermostat in the summer? Because in their summer their temperature gets as high as 28 ℃. Also during the summer in Arizona USA, their temperature get as high as 35℃, that is hotter than the temperature in kano, do they also change their radiator and remove thermostat? Car manufacturers test their cars with extreme weather conditions before putting them on the market.

I drive a 2005 Honda accord that was imported from Canada and I don't dare remove the thermostat. I have the factory single cell radiator and been driving it for 3 years now without any problem. Oh and I never bypass my cooling fans. It is a joy to watch the temperature meter rise to the optimum temperature within 2 mins after starting it in the morning. Engines are meant to run warm and can only perform when the temperature is at optimum. Using a double cell radiator and removing the thermostat will make the engine run colder for longer period which is not good for the engine. If u are experiencing overheating, the best thing is to fund out the culprit rather than removing thermostat all in the name of tropicalization.
nwannem, pls send me the mechanic to help reverse my cooling fans to factory settings for my camry . thanks (am in ikeja)

Change the radiator to double cell. These radiators becomes blocked as they get older. If you like wash it ten times, after two months, overheating will surface again

And what if the radiator is not the problem? Changing won't solve the problem then. It could be bad thermostat , water pump or head gasket.

I'm also talking from experience. Are u saying it is only radiator that can cause a car to overheat? I can almost guarantee that u are the type that remove thermostat, run fan directly and change to double radiator just to solve overheating.

Excuse me sir, my range rover sports always rise temperature high if I am traveling. My mechanic say I must remove the thermostat because Nigeria is hot and Europe is cold, so it isn't needed here. He said I must add another fan to be blowing so the engine will cool and I must change the radiator. I don't believe him but I want you to help advice me on what to do.
Tenks!

Just replace the thermostat if its faulty, if its working don't remove it.
You don't need extra fan.
Depending on the condition of your radiator, you might need a replacement

Should i replace it with double cell radiator, and should i allow him to connect the fan direct so that once the engine starts the fan starts rotating?

You can replace with double cell, there is no point connecting the fan directly if your thermostat is in good condition

My honda baby boy's (auto)radiator fan and a/c fan start simultaneously as soon as d engine is switched on without the a/c on. Is dat normal? Also, i discover the water in d radiator goes down very rapidly without much use of the vehicle. Not seen leakage anywhere. It is a one-celled radiator. Prompt response will be appreciated. Thanks.

if ur fan run direct with your engine working .Then ur fan has been " kazeemed ".Also for your radiator coolant level to be going down ,then you definitely have leak hiding somewhere or bad reservoir cap.
Hence , find the source of the leak before reverting ur fan to the factory setting.

I am not an auto technician, but i think your teservoir coolant level should somewhere in btw min and max....I once had that prob with my former car and all i did was reduce the water in reservoir slightly

Moreso, i cant av d a/c on for 30 minutes without the temperature guage rising exponentially. i avnt been able to use a/c cos of the rise. can dis be as a result of the radiator being a single cell?
Re: Changing The Radiator Of Your Tokunbo Car From Single Cell To Double Cell by 9icetoo(m): 10:38pm On May 09, 2015
Post a a picture of your temperature gauge when this overheating occurs. Meanwhile use a pressure washer to wash your radiator and condenser once again. You might have to repeat this process up to three times to get rid of all the debris in your radiator and condenser.

it will take such a long period for ur engine to reach it operating temperature which will make ur engine to consume more fuel and eventually spoil ur cat converter and the worst impending disaster that will eventually happen is engine damage due to gradual build up of sludge overtime.

Single cell radiator is ur car oem radiator from the manufacturer .Overheating is a symptom of a problem in ur car cooling system.Try to find the root cause of the problem intead of throwing part at a symptom.
I will advice you start from changing your reserviour cap which is easy to replace before you proceed to the next item
