Generals02: Bad as in ona ebu ajo ogwu... Ajaofia na Nnewi is a very dangerous masquerade and like someone said, it only comes out when a Strong Titled man passes on. It's not a masquerade you see anytime. |
Re: My Village Masquarade by MARKone(m): 10:23pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
Generals02: Well, I can't say, if it has killed, but all I know is that they are very feared masquerades. Like I said, these types don't come out anyhow so to say, and are always accompanied by a Dibia (native doctor). Look closely at the apex of the masquerade, you see a human skull. |

MARKone: What exactly do people fear thats my question? What will the masquerade do to you when you come face to face with it? |
Re: My Village Masquarade by manny4life(m): 10:30pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
Generals02: It will not do anything but if you're not strong enough or protected enough, you may partake from some of its leftovers. These types of masquerades are fortified spiritually; some of them, before they show publicly for a funeral, they go on a spiritual sabbatical. There are some rules they follow. For instance, they cannot see women or one in the menstrual period, even the men, they got to be older or strong men (if you know what I'm saying), and some of the rules are endless. 1 Like |

Generals02: The potency of these things have gradually died off or withered down, thanks to Christianity. I know a festival in Atani, Anambra state, the masquerade that heralds the festival comes out once in a year, and by 12 am in the Night, no body except those that accompanies it have ever seen it, and all lights must be off when it passes, it passes with a quezing sound. To answer your question, I have been shown a man it crippled, because he allegedly went in front of it instead of being behind. The myths and legends surrounding some of these things are great. But like I said, a lot of people who are into it has embraced Christianity. |

manny4life: Yea I understand you. Spiritual things. I suppose there should be prior notice before such masquerades make public appearance then to avoid trouble. |
Re: My Village Masquarade by Nobody: 10:59pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
MARKone: Lol I get it. The way you went about the fear thing I got thinking people would drop dead on sighting the masquerade. In that case that masquerade better be prepared to get a good lawyer to defend murder cases or face jail because its not above the constitution. Just like you said times have changed. |
