The aspiration of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), got a boost on Wednesday with the umbrella body of the North, the Arewa Consultative Forum, throwing its weight behind him for the February 14 election. The Forum noted that the earlier endorsement of the former Head of State by its National Chairman and former Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, was in order. The Chairman had in the wake of the APC primary that brought about the candidacy of the former military ruler, said the region would support Buhari for the February 14 election. Coomasie’s statement appeared to have divided the Forum members on the grounds that they were yet to meet to arrived at such a decision. On Wednesday, however, the ACF reaffirmed the position of its chairman. It said, “That the NEC Chairman’s statement on the issue of the Forum supporting a northern candidate in the person of General Muhammadu Buhari is hereby reaffirmed.” According to a communique signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, the Forum noted that it was part of its policy to support any northerner in any presidential election. The Forum, also warned against disenfranchising Nigerians in the next elections. Part of the communique read, “It is the policy of the ACF to support any northerner in any presidential election. “The ACF therefore wishes to reaffirm that statement and dissociates itself from any contrary statement issued by any other member of the Forum. “The Chairman is constitutionally empowered to direct the affairs of the Forum in a manner that is in consonance with its aims, objectives and policies and also project the image of the Forum at all times.” The Forum expressed concern over the continued insecurity in the country, particularly in the North- East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. www.punchng.com/news/presidency-acf-backs-buhari-reaffirms-coomasies-endorsement/ |

Just check out what these guys are spewing, if it was Ohaneze or any Igbo group that declared support for GEJ (who isn't Igbo) based on his achievements, some people from the left hand side of Nigeria will accuse them of tribalism and ethnic sentiments. However this northern apex group is making it clear that it is actually a POLICY for them to support ANY northern candidate in any Presidential election. The implication is that even if Shekau or any other mad man from the North wants to be President, they will support him over any other candidate from another part of Nigeria. 15 Likes 1 Share |

Yea, he should be endorsed. Whatever reason they gave for endorsing him (Buhari) is none of my business because Jonathan caused this. If Jonathan hadn't divided Nigeria along ethnic and religious line, it wouldn't have been like this. By the way the made it clear that it wasn't about Buhari's personality or capability but the fact that he is a northerner.
