Nad95:  SAT vs ACT and TOEFL Vs IELTSAnd it depends on the university you are applying to and if your a graduate or Undergraduate applicant! SAT would be better for an Undergraduate to take as it is widely accepted by most US university, SAT/ ACT is to US and JAMB is to Nigeria! SAT comprises of English and Maths (the Maths section is used by US colleges to know the appropriate maths class to place you ( for instance one who scored a 800 in Maths and someone who scored a 400 will not be placed in the same Maths class, later might be placed in a beginners class)! The English part of SAT is sometimes used by most US universities to determine your mastery of English Language in a-lieu of TEOFL or IELTS, although some University do not share this same policy and demands you write both type of Exam! If your a Graduate student, You don't have to SAT, Graduate have their own exams (GRE, GMAT e.t.c) depending of which graduate department your applying to and often times are always asked to also write either TOEFL/IELTS along side the former! My advice for MCF scholars: UG: write SAT (apply to Duke, stanford, MSU) If you write TOEFL or IELTS ( you apply to just Arizona and MSU). If you write both test (Apply to all the schools)! Graduate: Contact school website to know which exams to write alongside TOEFL/IELTS, TOEFL (is American English) IELTS (Queen's English)!!!!! |
