Yes let's move forward.

@jaybee, what's the plan for DJ while we wait for NY? I also second nnamdibig's question.

Stage 4 cancer is unfortunately complex and thus needs to be approached carefully.
It's impossible to get him flown out without adequate funds and he needs to continue with his current treatment plan.
We will continue working with the LCC doctors and go with their steer on way forward.

Though the prognosis is somewhat dire but miracles do happen

@emmysexxy, I don't know if you saw DJ last year especially with the bloated stomach. I don't know if you physically saw the initial shape he was in. Nobody would see him and not feel for him. Maybe you saw him for the first time and thus the surprise. I don't know what you saw or what prompted whatever you said.

I've sent 4 mails with no reply from you.

I don't know the info you are holding back.

If you are right, you don't need to be intimidated by anyone here. But every word on sensitive issues should be laced with wisdom. And no, it wasn't what you said that prompted the update...contrary to what many believe in.

You probably don't know the damage you have done already. Whatever rocks your boat. We can go on and on about what you said and how you could have said it...but it doesn't matter now.

You are a medical student yet you made such statement. Tomorrow is monday. You promised to visit and give us updates. Please don't forget to visit your neighbour, talk to his doctors, and if it's not against the ethics of your profession, give us updates. You seem to be the messiah many would prefer to hear from. So please do the needful. Thanks sweetheart.

SWEETHEART please come give me a hug. You are filled with intelligence and I don't regret knowing you or doing business with you. God bless you REAL BIG.

God bless TEHN, God bless Nairaland. God bless Djdola.

Yeah, stage 4 cancer is complex but can be treated. The miracle we should be hoping for now is planing how to treat him abroad(possibly by raising more funds by taxing ourselves on this tread & start preparation on how to fly him out.... Passports and all that). If we can't do these things to save this guy's life, then from my opinion, we have not done enough.

@jaybee3, let's look at the flying him abroad option while we wait for other results. Is funding the only problem with that? Do we have an estimate of how much we need to have? With the reports sent to India, is chemotherapy the only available option? Can we contact more than one hospital with the new result we have since we have been working with wrong diagnosis(?) all along? Babyosisi and the other doctors can help with this or even some of us.

I just don't want us to wait. Let's have a back up plan.

Is funding the only problem here?

So instead of the back and forth we have been doing since and back slapping why haven't we kicked off fund raising? If 2000 Nairalanders can give N 5000 we will go a long way thats N1M added to what we have already.

If there is something you are not telling us thats different but making it seem as if all hands are tied and money cannot be raised is not true. I for one am ready to send my widows might if we move forward from this back and forth and have a clear diagnosis, budget and directions. This is not about anyones ego and emotion a life is at stake here we can do all the group things and issues later now are we raising money or not?

Mr Man Donations were suspended till we have a diagnosis, budget and treatment plan. Read through the thread before jumping around on people's posts

Yeah bro, I can get the ball rolling but u and I know that we need a lot of money very fast & the best way to do that is to task ourselves on this tread. 10k from 50 people here is 500k...... My thought sha

I disageee donations cant be done blindly. Funds were rolling in till the money was spent mostly on test, I cant go through the whole thread but at one point we said lets know where this is going before we push in more funds.

If we have an estimate Instead of sending N10000 i can say no the money needed is much more let me gather more money see where i can look for and send something more.

Again instead of back and forth lets have motivation in form of an estimate to guide our giving.
People won't just send money when we don't even know whats going on.

Again this endless debate serves no purpose lets have an estimate, let us start looking for stones to turn over and get money to help this guy
Re: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by Nobody: 7:02pm On Jan 18, 2015
l thought the India hospital required about $42,000 dollars which is about 8million naira @200 naira exchange rate, that should be a guide to what we should be expecting, from the look of things we might spend around that range of 8million or more.....

We need an estimate. Roughly how much do we need? How much do we have left? How much have we spent?

At least let's get the ball rolling. We know it's stage 4 cancer except NY says otherwise. Better safe than sorry. Let's assume the worst and go for alternatives. I'm not too comfortable with chemotherapy.

Stage 4 means it has spread and it's aggressive. The second hospital in India is offering chemotherapy which can also be done in Nigeria so why should we rule out the Nigerian option if the treatment plan is exactly the same?

Fund restriction is a major issue as it's in 2 phases,
Treatment - The cost is going to be in the region of 4M+. Stage 4 means chances of cure is slim (Based on published research)
Post treatment - we can't cost as we can't predict the dynamics

Should in case things go horribly wrong (hopefully not) there is also additional cost to return the body to Nigeria.

Like i said earlier, it's very complex and we have to be practical as well as following steer from his doctors at LCC

That was for kidney transplant...i guess.

Now we are working with cancer (stage 4).

So we need to sure it won't be more than that.

Also, we need to know hospitals we can take him to and contact them.

The money wasn't spent mostly on tests. Majority of the money was spent to stabilise him. Hammed is way better than he was when he was at eruwa. He can now pass his body waste unaided

From the top of my head, i think we still have somewhere in the region of 1.7M left. We will publish the exact figure hopefully by tomorrow

l guess that seems to be the best treatment to place him on now to stabilize him...but l don't know if there are other alternative treatment medically speaking apart from the chemo treatment...Medics in the house will know better..

Oga good now how much more on the average do we need to raise to at least have a good chance of flying him out?

Even if it's one percent chance of survival I am ready to put my money in it. I will sleep better at night knowing I did my best for this brother instead of putting my hand on my head and saying its over for him

No one has said it's over for him. I mentioned palliative and chemotherapy at diifferent times in my earlier posts. They will also need money and if chemotherapy is the only thing that can be offered in India so why narrow our option to that if he can get exactly the same chemotherapy here?

True that. I've heard some stories about chemo. It's like it's just to keep a patient in good condition for a short time. Don't know much though.

If it's not something to be kept confidential, what kind of cancer does he has?
Also goes a long way prognostically!
And how much metastases are we talking about?
Which organs have been affected secondarily?

if you have agreed to keep this confidential, kindly say so! cool
