Repost COIN Option for the military. This vehicle is already in use with the Nigerian Police. Nigeria's, Proforce LAPV. Since we seem to love the hilux so much. This vehicle is based on the chassis of the rugged hilux. It can withstand 2 simultaneous grenade blast detonated underneath it, and provides adequate protection against 7.62 rounds. In Ukraine, a Ukrainian Army Streit cougar involved in ATO, a vehicle similar to this (leopard LAPV) got hit by mine, the soldier escaped largely un-hurt bar a few bruises. With 3 Gun stations ( 50 CAL and GPMG x2), it sure can bite. 2 Likes

Hey henry what do think about the idea of requesting help from Algeria to help with boko haram even with lets say 1000 troops in the north east this will have the dual effect of helping us with boko haram and answering to francophone pseudo-aggression. also this will boost our relationship with a powerful African millitary almost next door. |

Nigeria27:It will be the biggest disgrace in Nigerian history if Nigeria seek military asistance from Algeria, boko haram still exists cuz we haven't elected a new president yet. 1 Like |

NighttWalker: thats an incorrect way of thinking being to proud to ask for help is something only a fool would do, also democracy does not work in every culture/country especially a terribly country like nigeria. the main problem with democracy is it create a ruleing class and the illusion of accountability when in reality all the civil populous can do is juggle between inadequate leaders in hopes that they choose the less inadequate. nigeria does not need to be to proud and full of it self it needs to make calculated moves in an effort of self-preservation. Nigeria is fighting more then 4 enmanies at the same time (boko haram, domestic sponsors, international sponsors, itself) 1 Like |

Nigeria27:Mr Nigeria can't ask for help from a Nation when we can solve our own problems, this issues of book haram is somehow political and any day Nigeria wants to get rid of it she will. Let's try to keep this thread clean and use it for the purpose it was created 2 Likes |

NighttWalker: i was thinking the same thing too. If by the first six months of Jonathan's relection (because i know for sure he will still win it), BH still remains around, then i will conclude he is a failure as far as security is concerned. 1 Like |

Nigeria27: I know this is going to ruffle some feathers But I have a strong suspicion that the SANDF ACRIC force will be in the region soon Even since the unit was first formed and the CnC said something like "its deployment could lead to terror attacks back home" i have suspected that Cameroon/Nigeria or Somalia would be its first port of call as he would not have said anything like that if they werent specifically thinking about combating Islamists Its a pretty potent formation: Army - a motorised infantry battalion (9 SA Infantry Battalion equipped with Casspir armoured personnel carriers) - a composite mechanised car squadron (Ratel-20 infantry combat vehicles from 1 SA Infantry Battalion, Rooikat armoured cars and possibly Ratel-ZT3 tank destroyers from 1 Special Services Battalion) - a light artillery battery (1 Light Artillery Regiment with 120 mm mortars) - a light anti-aircraft battery (10 Anti-Aircraft Regiment with Starstreak missiles) - a troop from 2 Field Engineer Regiment; a troop from 1 Tactical Intelligence Regiment; and a composite signals squadron with elements of 1, 2 and 5 Signals Regiments, including communications intelligence teams. (Most of the force elements will be equipped with Casspirs.) SAAF - A mobile air operations team (MAOT) - two Gripen multirole fighters - two Rooivalk attack helicopters - two Oryx medium transport helicopters - two A-109 light utility helicopters - and two C-130s. SAN - Maritime Reaction Force, including riverine or inshore craft and Marines, depending on the requirements. "Services" - The SA Military Health Service will provide a medical task group and a level-two hospital - Military Police a platoon. http://www.janes.com/article/43780/south-africa-to-place-troops-on-standby-for-african-crisis-response A level two military hospital is defined as having: - Increased medical capability and limited inpatient bed space. - Includes basic primary care, optometry, combat operational stress control and mental health, dental, laboratory, surgical (when augmented) and X-ray capability. - 100% mobile. http://www.brooksidepress.org/Products/Emergency_War_Surgery/Chp2LevelsofCare.pdf Its a pretty potent force and it would obviously be tailored for conditions its deployed to (wont need air-defence and it WILL need long range arty such G5's) while the MRS could be usefull in hunting down BH camps in lake Chad. While more Helo's will be necessary due to the distances involved. And, as Government has said, all Nigeria/Cameroon/AU has to do is ask (next AU general assembly is in 2 weeks) http://ewn.co.za/2015/01/12/Dirco-Boko-Harams-terrorism-must-come-to-an-end We shall see if Nigeria's will to defeat BH is so strong that the Nation is willing to swallow some pride and ask Africa for help 2 Likes

patches689:It would be stup...id for the CnC to deploy the ACRIC in search of a legacy. Remember this is almost a brigade force. Again the command and control side of things haven't been settled yet. I'd support deploying trainers to help the Nigerian army. SA trained battalions(Quick reaction battalions) in the DRC under the legendary Colonel Mamadou performed well, he too was trained by SA soldiers. Help the Nigerian military in establishing quick reaction units with light artillery support. |

patches689:those are cute pictures you ve got there. I know your boys won't mind risking their life to come and snap more pictures under the sun and dust of the Nigeria NE. But we cannot allow them do that in our soil. Being battle hardened is not a picture. You ve to earn it. If your men are seeking for death from proper Islamic terrorist( not CAR child soldiers) then let them join the AMISOM tour, they are good at finding their demise so in no time they will meet it. 1 Like |
