Illiterate.
The soldiers rebelled against their leader (an absolute no no in the army) and they were sentenced BY THE MILITARY TRIBUNAL, not Jonathan! Illiterate!
You think Jonathan is like your despotic criminal who appointed himself plaintiff, judge and jury during his despicable regime? Jonathan is a democrat who lets the law run its course without meddling in their business.
Your expired general might need to learn a thing or two from that, boy.

See ya life

Got you in your own cretinous game. Was Buhari the head of the military tribunal that sentenced those soldiers to death? He was only the CIC But you blamed him abi....likewise we blame the current CIC for sending promising young soldiers to their death without proper gear and giving death sentence to others that managed to complain..olodo

What is the punishment for failed coup plot?

It is death anywhere in the world.

So OP and his co-travelers, cry us a river as you like.

u r uninformed. the punishment for a failed coup is death, not a failed coup plot. there is a difference between coup and coup plot.

if u have carried out the plot and it failed, it is death. buh if its still a plot, u can only be jailed. dt is why people are angry with IBB over the death of Mamman vatsa, cos the cplot hasnt been carried out yet unlike dimka, and Gideon Orkar coups

Guy, plan a coup against even Goodluck Jonathan as a Military Ruler and see what will happen!

What happened when a coup was planned against Babangida?

These guys did not just plan a coup, they wanted to Assassinate their commander in chief and top officials, their superiors.

Also Consider the Bloodbath the country could have been thrown into if they made their attempt and Buhari's loyalists fought back. They would probably still have died after plunging the country into a bloody chaos! Have u not seen it happen before in Africa?

The army was not wrong but over bearing to sentence them to death the cause of their mutiny is admirable and good.

Even I defended them .

The soldiers erred.. the cause of their actions notwithstanding!!!

Everyone always have a cause for their actions.. A cause they believe is right and just!!!

These coup plotters GMB murdered in 84 probably had an admirable and good cause for their actions.

But it didn't count then.. Why will the cause of the mutineers count today?

It's still the same Nigerian Army and their laws haven't changed that much.

Some people attempted to Assassinate the Head of State and his entire cabinet members, they were overpowered and gunned down. So what is the news here? Why not plot a coup against Jonathan and attempt to assassinate him? Do you guys understand the gravity of the offence? Should they had been given slaps on the wrist?

Exactly what is needed in Nigeria. A firm leader, who doesnt take shit from any stray dog.

I'm not supporting anybody, but the action by Buhari or whosoever (e.g. Military tribunal) is a welcome development. For me, it should further give his campaign more boost than the opposite. Its enough embarassment on its own for a sitting President to get killed, how much more sending signals to the outside world how unsecured we are.

Too many things have been allowed to go on with impunity in this country; and that's why we are where we are today.

If, for example, Fashola hadn't stepped on some toes back in the days of the chaotic Oshodi, the whole of Lagos would've still remained the way it was. People were crying wolf then, but now we see the outcome.

NIGERIA NEEDS A FIRM HAND AND THATS ONE OF THE WAYS TO CURB CORRUPTION.

What good change would a man who dethroned democratically elected government and took over as a military man bring to Nigeria? He will rule Nigeria in a dictatorial manner as a soldier. Once a soldier is always a soldier. What happened to the innocent lives that he wasted? GMB's hands are full of blood and we don't need him again. Though GEJ is not the perfect man we want but at least not an ex military dictator. GMB killled democracy with bullet and democracy will kill him with the ballot

You got nobody but further exposed your stupidiity.
Learn the difference between a DEMOCRACY and a MILITARY DICTATORSHIP before polluting forums with your obtuse, m0ronic bellows.
Muhammadu Buhari DISSOLVED the Judiciary System, only to PERSONALLY set up tribunals and temporary kangaroo court sessions that danced to his tune. From the article, he executed those soldiers based on SUSPICIONS of a "Planned" coup.
That is different from Jonathan's administration where a pre-existing military tribunal (not the hurriedly cobbled Buhari kangaroo nonsense) tried and sentenced those soldiers for REBELLING (note: NOT "Planning" to rebel) against their squad leader.

Try another line, loser.

You people need to educate yourselves on how Buhari ran Nigeria like his personal property.
please stop saying rubbish, how gagged can the press be?the soldiers has families no matter how it was people would have come out to confirm it,the purpose of shooting coup plotters and announcing it is to deter anyone else, so if your story was true why would they execute secretly.

The reward for any failed coup plot is DEATH. Simple as ABC.
Good answer, DEATH Penalty for any Mutiny, so having know that, why did Buwari and APC members start crying for those soldiers charged with Mutiny and sentenced to Death? He should have accepted it, having executed too in the past?

Shattap that your dirty gutter you called mouth.
Did I say they were executed secretly ? undecided

How would you know that soldiers are being court marshalled if it wasn't in the news ? Would you be going to govt house everyday to confirm what is happening ?

There was zero outlet of information to the general population and even if you have one, you are better of keeping it to yourself ,you can't confirm anything as people are usually too afraid to speak up lest they should be reported by plain cloth police men that lives amongst them without their knowledge - It was that bad.

Ask your parents let them narrate their ordeal during Buhari's iron fist misrule. The man was insane and power drunk.
