But having an accent especially as a black man helps at times in terms of profiling. There's this general fear of the black man especially and I've noticed once in a while people being apprehensive or raising their guards up when you approach them to ask a question but once they hear your accent, they immediately relax and become nicer.

So, don't lose your accent. Use it to your favour. wink

You are on point with the above comment. It has happened to me severally. Once they know you are not AKATA, they become more friendly. I better keep my accent

This doesn't sound like much of a plan. Just leave your studies and go stay with another illegal, so immigration can be pursuing both of you together? grin.
Hahaha. Both would be like....Have you watched the movie ABOVE THE LAW cheesy?

His so-called uncle simply does not have plans for him. Wants to put him in the cage like chicken so as to remind him how tough the US is, probably to score some cheap points cheesy

Whether someone has been here for so long or not doesn't really matter. What matters most is the current information and luckily, you can get them here on Nairaland.

Let him tell his uncle that Classicalmusic said he doesn't have any plan for his younger nephew.

It's sad to say that but its true. You can tell that Americans in general and the Police all know the difference between both groups in terms of behaviour and character.

To be honest, your score is very low. The lowest score you could get in GRE if you answer nothing is 260 (130V, 130Q) and highest score is 340. 260 is equivalent to 0 and 340 to 100. 286 converted to a scale of 100 = 32.5/100. No school in Nigeria even has such score as PUME cut-off mark.

Retake the GRE or better still, apply to schools without the GRE requirement and keep your GRE result for embassy purposes.
