Akeem Majoyegbe is the first ever African member of the Gardaí, Irish Police, in Republic of Ireland. Akeem arrived in Ireland and has lived in New Ross since 2001, where he works in production operations in Lake Region. Akeem has been a member of the Garda Reserve since November 2008. He graduated in 2009 from the Garda Training College in Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland. Akeem received his initial training in Templemore, followed by classroom training in Waterford Akeem holds a degree in Psychology and attained a Masters in Forensic Psychology from the University of Cork City. AKEEM: 'I am the first black man in uniform and from Nigeria so everyone is excited and everyone wants me to work with him or her'' Akeem is married to Funmi, and they have five children, Fola, Enny, Ore and Lekan, and a little daughter Lizzy.
