yemmit90:

Irrigation system is only good for the protection/sustainability of plants during dry season or where rains are inadequate. It's quite not advisable(for the novice) to start planting new suckers with irrigation system. It's very dangerous in the sense that the land as a result of too much/shortage of water from irrigation might lead to the death of young plants especially plantain.

What do you actually advise in place of irrigation as we all know that plantain needs water throughout the year?
All roads lead to Ogbomosho for feasibility study.

Sorry for the late reply to your post.

The only alternative to irrigation system is rain. And if you check the post I previously quoted and my post, you will see that I only criticized and gave reason to his assumption that 'plantain could be planted anytime of the year as long as water is available'. Yes, but perhaps he forgot that we have rain and dry seasons respectively.

I therefore centered my reply to his post to irrigation system because I knew that was what he meant by saying that. Like I said before, irrigation is only good and reasonable when you're trying to make sure the plant get enough water during the dry season. My point is that, it might be a grave mistake by starting planting your suckers with a mere irrigation system as suggested by some in this thread and other threads. I'm quite understand they wanted to sell their suckers, but that doesn't not mean they should be advising a Novice with very little or zero experience/knowledge to emback on that dangerous rout.

Plantain Flour - Plantains contain more starch and less sugar than dessert bananas and are therefore cooked or otherwise processed before being eaten. They are always cooked or fried when eaten green. An average plantain has about 220 calories and is a good source of potassium and dietary fibre.

for Nigerians looking for Plantain Flour in the US, you can get your ingredients here - http://www.nigerianfoods.com/products/plantain-flour

I've only secured the land for preparation against the approaching farming season. The issue of land clearing has not come up, it is underway. When we get to the bridge, we will know how to cross it. Estimates for land preparation was however sent to my e mail by Hotmas911, & if you need it l can share with you.
At the same time, feel free to chat with hotmas911 & or Lesgupnigeria or any other of your choice
