Thanks segbas. The doctor's name is Noelle niemand of Matlock Obgyn, Arlignton The only thing I could present was my appointment letter: It was even my friend that got it for me cos the lady that U normally spoke to me from the hospital whenever I call says that she does not have access to e-mail facilities; only via fax which I too do not have access to. So, my friend overthere used her fax number to get the appointment letter with medical bills & scanned it to me. I wasnt able to communicate to thee doctor. I have enough funds, the officer didnt even ask how much I had, my account statement..... We were to stay with a family friend, hotel wasnt booked for segbas: |

Hi, This is the first time we are to travel as a family. Thanks for your advise. But what other change do you think I can make, Should i change the hospital? Location of the hospital or it should be in thesame area or I request the hospital to change the doctor? ozycy: |

baauh: A US citizen MUST DEPART or REENTER the United States on a US passport at all times. Even though your baby can get dual citizenship through the parents, he cannot exercise that citizenship within the United states. Bottom line: As long as he is within the United States or in an American flagged carrier -His US citizenship overrides anything else. 4 Likes |

@Uchetobi, Pls, i need your help. I have a friend that lives in arlington but I intend using doctor Fagbohun in houston. Now to fill my contact details is an issue. It's not advisable to stay with my friend because arlington is 4hrs away from houston. So, i will have to make a hotel reservation in houston. how do I fill my contact details & where i intend staying columns in my DS-160 form? Will the doctor be my contact person or still my friend? How did you go about yours? My e-mail addy is festhayo@yahoo.com mrsshen: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Amother4life: 6:40am On Feb 01, 2015 |
Shawbabe:Doesn't apply to Americans in the United States. You must depart and reenter the country on a US passport if you are a citizen. You can then use whatever dual citizenship passport once you have departed . |

Miemiecious: Hey dear, I had my visa before baby, but when you are in labor how do u intend to come from Arlington (4hrs). That's not practicable. Anyways for the purpose of visa il say definitely get a hotel reservation. Contact person put the dr's name since it's a b2 visa but contact address put the hotel Don't forget to put the hotel budget (for like 8/10 wks) in ur spreadsheet and this should reflect in the bank balance you are showing And I think you should leave your friend completely out of your application Good luck 3 Likes 1 Share |

kizluv: Having a family and a good job used to be considered "strong ties" to ones home country in the good old days. Now, its on a case by case basis. You can't blame them with several people not returning or claiming to be married when they were not. Lagos consulate is considered one of the toughest for genuine travelers for a reason. A reputation that has lingered. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Amother4life: 6:55am On Feb 01, 2015 |
uchetobi: I totally agree. The last thing you want is to be dragged into explaining the practicability of your accommodation arrangements. |

@sayoberry, Oakbend charges $3500 for CS and $500 for each additional infant, abi has it changed? Pls let us know so we go take know to to arrange ourselves. Thanks @segbas, here's the transcript of my visa interview. Got there at about 6.50am, interview was slated for 7.30am at Abuja. Got through all the check in processes and finally got to sit. Only one young white lady was interviewing initially bt was later joined by a young friendly white guy. Was praying to meet d guy cos the lady approved one person and denied 2peeps before me(tho I think she had reason to). I was the 4th person she interviewed. Went with my MIL. VO: Goodmorning and how are you today? We: very well, thank you. Goodmorning. VO: she looks at screen- 'So you're going to have a baby?' Me: BABIES, actually (with emphasis on the ies)- make she hear am well VO: OH WOW. pass me ur doctor's correspondence and bank statements. I did that, including my dad's and MIL's statement and a letter from my dad. But ontop of the statements, I put my very bold/eye-catching budget spreadsheet (God bless the person that gave this info cos that's what impressed her) VO: who is this from?(referring to my dad's letter/bank statement) Me: it's my dad's, he's also supporting me. VO: is this your own budget cost? (she scans through the spreadsheet meticulously and makes sure the items correspond to what Dr. fagbohun has in his letter to me) Me: Yes Ma'am. VO: are u having twins/ triplets? Me: told her. VO: turns to my MIL. How much do you earn? MIL: told her, plus where she works VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before We: yeah VO: where to exactly? We: mentioned the countries VO: what does your husband do? Me: told her VO: what city are you going to? ME: Richmond, Texas VO begins typing oh, I just dey sing praises/kabash for my mind. VO: pick up your visas on Thursday. We: thank you. We turned and left with so much joy. In all I just thank God cos though I prepared well(thanks to phema's checklist and burden of proof), all that could have come to nothing if God didn't favour me/approve. Be confident, pray seriously and hope for the best. @all, have a blessed Sunday. Sorry for the long post. 13 Likes |

Seconded... I spoke with a friend last night (US National), he said same thing that he can't leave US with another passport unless he want his second country to be his first, and he won't be able to exercise US citizenship again. Amother4life: |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Amother4life: 7:33am On Feb 01, 2015 |
dere5: The US embassy cannot determine the outcome at POE. Embassy is more like a high school were a student seats for his/her SS3 exams. The CBP officer is WAEC...even if your school followed all the procedures in conducting the exams WAEC still reserves the right to cancel the exams ( visa). So, writing later of intent to the embassy has no material bearing on the outcome at POE unless of course there was "material misrepresentation " at the interview stage which leads to a life time ban. So, as long as you have a valid visa and enough funds to pay for your medical bills (without becoming a liability to the American tax payer) you will be granted access at POE. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Amother4life: 8:04am On Feb 01, 2015 |
justwise: I agree absolutely. You are playing with fire. you better remedy the situation before you depart. Even US citizens still make some type of payment towards healthcare unless you are taken to the emergency room without medical insurance. Even that bill is eventually still paid by US tax payers. You are NOT entitled to FREE medical service as a foreign citizen and you risk getting a 10 year Ban from the United states if you leave without clearing your debt. This will further complicate cases for others coming from home. |
