@ Bauuh, your stories are kinda disjointed. 1. you were asking for cheap hospitals in NJ because you had a budget of 5kUSD. 2. you were asking if you could bring your baby home with naija passport after collecting BC and apply for passport in your home country 3. Next, you say your wife had baby in NY with insurance, you are not aware and you went ahead to lie to the VO that you sponsored with 10th USD. 4. Then, you are suddenly not in good terms with your wife and your father in law forced you to let her go. And to cap it all, you are already talking about disclaimer, separation..........Not too good. Now my questions... 1. who bought her flight ticket? you or your father in law? 2. when she was going, did you give her the 5k USD you had earlier budgeted? 3. why did you tell VO that you sponsored with 10k? I have a feeling he had seen it on the system that your wife used insurance. just couldn't deny you because you claim yo want to go see your baby. They respect family ties a lot. 4. The 10k USD you claimed, do you have it? if yes why not send it to your wife to make the payment and if your father in law that insisted that his daughter to have baby in US can help out with the balance, all well and good and if not set up payment plan to suit your income(have heard people on the forum say its possible) after all the Americana baby will bear your name. yeah it might be difficult cos you still need to keep the family running but I bet you, chicken in out of this by denying your wife and baby is not the solution. my 2 cents ooh.........abeg apologies for long post, 6 Likes |

I must admit this forum has been so informational.I have a little situation and need some advise. I obtained my US visa in Nigeria almost five years ago while I was working there and was a resident.I later moved to Ghana and have been using the visa since.by the way am Ghanaian and hold a Ghana passport. My question is,do I need to consult the embassy and tell them about my change of travel purpose or just leave it as it is and use the visa for birthing.I sent them a general email without identification just to know their response.. I off course intend to pay all bills but don't want any whahala when I have to renew my visa. Thanks and I will be awaiting response.. God bless 1 Like |

Now my questions... 1. who bought her flight ticket? you or your father in law? I bought the ticket. 2. when she was going, did you give her the 5k USD you had earlier budgeted? At that time my father in law say you don't have to give anything I will bear everything. Just send her, in angry tone. 3. why did you tell VO that you sponsored with 10k? I have a feeling he had seen it on the system that your wife used insurance. just couldn't deny you because you claim yo want to go see your baby. They respect family ties a lot. At that time I wasn't aware that they used insurance. I just came to know2 days back when they asked for consent letter. I can but I don't know because of this bad happenings me and my wife are going to stay together again or not. her father lied a lot with me and put so much pressure. I applied for visa just to see my child. Never know that I can be put in this trouble. Gracydee: |

MsResiArthur: U have been using the visa right? U are fine, u don't need to notify them. I didn't notify the embassy because I have used my current visa several times before I even got married, or even conceived. No issues at POE. I think u only send letter if u were pregnant at time of visa application and didn't state ur intention then, or if u never used it for the purpose in which u were granted it in the first place. None applies to u, so u are fine. 1 Like |

Uncle baauh, ignored my question. Which answers my doubt of if u are Nigerian. Becoz I kinda don't think u are? I believe u are Indian? Or of Asian background? Not that it matters or anything, but u will most likely get an answer relative to what Nigerians go through and how the consulate works IN Nigeria, which might not suit ur peculiar case. Plus ur father-in-law is all up in ur business, trait common with Asians. Then again I stand corrected 6 Likes |

baauh:It is 100% legal to have your baby through insurance because even in USA, everyone has one insurance or the other to foot their emergency bills A lady here has used insurance to pay off her bills and she didn't have any problem so far. Insurance is like a monthly contribution, anytime you need it, they pay off your bills. Although insurance varies depending on which one you signed for. If insurance truly paid the whole bill, then you will have a 0 account with the hospital. Take the zero account receipt with you. That's all the evidence you need for future visa issuance. If the insurance company didn't pay all, you have to pay the remaining yourself 1 Like |

If the insurance was private , I don't see any problem with that. The only problem is if this so called insurance is "medicaid/Medicare". Right now, he has lied at the embassy about paying the bills but he will scale through if the wife truly used a real insurance or if they pay the bills in cash. Or else Amother4life: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by zeezahbee(f): 1:28am On Feb 02, 2015 |
baauh:The deed is done, even if you don't consent to the birth , your baby is now a citizen regardless and only your wife name will be on record. Find out more about this insurance. I mean full details but I doubt the insurance , your wife came on B2, how was she able to sign up for an insurance with the short time. If it's not Medicaid/ Medicare, then you need to take a breath but if it is, then pay off that bill ASAP 1 Like |

zeezahbee: Very inaccurate statement. No foreigner is entitled to "free "insurance in the United States. Please,do not encourage people to break the law. The lady you claim used insurance to pay off her bill...is she a resident or citizen? Was she paying a monthly premium on that insurance she used? I really hope it is not medicaid that your friend has used. In order to be eligible for Medicaid, individuals need to satisfy federal and state requirements regarding residency, immigration status, and documentation of U.S. citizenship. 5 Likes |

Amother4life: There's nothing like free insurance.... you can pay using insurance it's like HMO (it's your money) However the person in question doesn't have all the full facts so it's better to have the whole story than just jump into conclusions. However medicaid isn't insurance it's free medical treatment in the USA paid by the government ultimately tax payers money. Poster sef doesn't have all the facts and info as he may be confusing insurance for Medicaid. If it's truly insurance you need to get the zero balance from the hospital and it would state that the insurance paid (thereby you had no recourse to public funds). My opinion 3 Likes |

@ Buuaah;Your situation isn't so bad. It can still be corrected.. Firstly, Travel to whichever state that your wife is, get all the details of her medical bills, seek expert opinion as regards the insurance. If eventually you need to pay back, develop a payment plan to offset the bills. if your inlaws are willing to assist on this, pls swallow your pride and show appreciation. Secondly,The issue between you and your wife can be sorted out. After clearing all the medical issue, take your wife for a weekend and try iron out your differences. You guyz need to make some sacrifices. Remember whatever you guyz decide will affect the innocent child positively or negatively. And if u cannot resolve it amongst yourself, pls seek counselling. But please leave both in-laws out of it. I wish you and your family the very best this new month. all the best. 16 Likes |

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. I am thinking hard to reconcile or not just for the child sake. but so far my in laws highly incorporative. they are not even telling my the insurance company name. That making me more doubtful. Just asking for the consent form. I hope there is not alternative of consent otherwise they might not contact me. Even I drop message to my father in law to clear the bills by cash he is not replying to me. I am just counting on time what they will decide. jyde2014: |

drafrican: Lots of info have been posted here before on MD. It is generally expensive but below is the quote from people here that have noted as am also considering Maryland. Yes Maryland/DC/VA is expensive. You should prob have at least 10k but could be more. I think the price you got for Shady Grove + Dr is good if it is 10k total Here are 3 options which are a bit cheaper than the typical DMV prices but still expensive compared to ATL/TX/Chicago popularly used my Nairaland mamas. These are estimates based on standard stay in hospital Virginia Hospital Center. I think they offer a small discount. Call and ask V Delivery: 4400 CS: 6400 Epidural: 1200 C section anaesthetic: 850 Dr Fee - Dr Tchabo (renowned Cameroonian Dr) - discounted self pay rate - 3000 for V, 3300 for CS Ann Arundel Medical Center. They offer 2% discount lol V Delivery: 5617 CS: 7787 Baby Acc Fee: 2000 Anesthesia: 1000 (estimate) Dr Rogers: discounted self pay rate 3000 (this is the lowest priced OB that delivers there. You can find his contact on their site) Inova Alexandria - Thanks @aye88 for the recommendation This is the only hospital I know in DMV that offers significant discount for Self Pay. Prices below are after discount V Delivery: 3701.43 CS: 5292.54 Baby: 1290.06 Dr Ansera: 3000 I also heard PG Hospital is relatively cheap but it depends on how picky you are in terms of service and environment. The reviews are not great. |

@Kizluv She is not single officially. On paper she is still married. how can she still get passport without my consent. If she can get passport without my consent, whats the purpose of this step by US government. I want to give consent, but I just want them to talk with me properly and inform me what wrong doing they did properly so that we can rectify. If suppose my child is not able to get passport, he can still get later on from the consulate if all issues are resolved later on. Sorry for keeping thread flooded with my queries. I shall stop soon to enquire once I got a complete guideline. |

Hello House, There is this hospital in California which I came across. It's relatively cheap. Centinela Hospital Medical Center. It has got maternity package, vaginal = $3K and c/s = $5K for 1day and 3days stay at the hospital (all inclusive). Any Mom who have used this hospital before and if yes, how can you rate their services? Thank You, Cheers! 4 Likes |

baauh: At this point u should think about the best interest of your wife and Child. Make no mistake if u dont give your consent the Childs documents will bear the name of the mother then u will ve to explain to your child one day the reason for this. Seriously not giving ur consent will hurt u more than any1 else. look on the bright side at the age of 21 the child can make u an american citizen. u need to MAN up and face your responsibity and family . something is not right for ur inlaws to threat u this way .m guessing they are upset about something major u did. The birth of a Child is a thing of Joy its very unfair for U , Ur Wife and UR inlaws to be in this state instead of welcoming the child like a treasure it is. Lets face it if your inlaws feel u abandoned ur responsibily of providing for your child i understand them not wanting to share info with u. Part of being a man is to take a stand and say its my Child and My wife will have the child where i can afford instead of letting your inlaws pay for the birth. When u gave your consent for them to fund the process u gave ur consent for them to do so anyway they seem fit. Letting ur inlaws pay for the birth of ur child was ur mistake swallow ur pride n look for a way forward. you dont expect them to be answerable to you like the boss right? Like i said be4 not giving ur consent will hurt u more than any1. Ur Consent is to agree that u the father of the Child and the child can share your surname. U cant use that as a bargaining chip . or will u prefer for the child to bear ur Father INlaws name. 3 Likes |
