@ Baauh. ..

Pls don't get it twisted .. . I think U and wife lack effective communication.

You really have to have a heartfelt discussion with wife without accusations and tensed up emotions.

Yeah ! U don't need to send a consent letter BUT IT IMPLIES UR WIFE IS A SINGLE MUM n guess wat UR CHILD AUTOMATICALLY becomes an America GOVERNMENT PROPERTY (whom can't be taken out of d USA)

U will be esstoped by law to later claim paternity because in Law, He who reprobate cannot approbate at the same time.
Pls be guided on Ur decision so U don't loss Ur wife via separation and baby to US government at the same time.

Seriously Mr Baauh U r the first Dad here on NL that ain't impressed wit an Americana baby. undecided

I wished I had read Ur post earlier before I typed mine..
All d same U had said all der is .. Mr Baauh erroneously thinks a consent letter is a piece of trash okayyy ooo.

He really needs to take charge of His family affairs nothing brings disrespect to a man dan lack of Integrity
and honesty most especially from in - law's.

We understand d situation he is in now but wise members has given him good counsel yet He seems bent on complicating issues.

Hi I don't think the child will become the Property of the US government if he does not give his consent. Where did I get such info?

You can check www.travelstate.gov

Someone told Me to claim spinsterhood so My baby I can benefit from priveledges conferred on Single Mum like a free house with 0-10% Mortgage , Food stamps and allowances but on a condition that I can't travel out of the State with the Child cuz the child is a government baby.
My advice to Mr Baauh was based on dat.

Thankzx for the correction.

I am not a troll. neither I have that much time to behave like troll. My circumstances make me behaving like this. My in-laws really hurt me.

I have read US passport website that if I don't give consent ( Form 3053). they can still use form DS-5525 to claim that father is not reachable. Is that easy to use DS-5525.
If they are able to use form DS-5525 will she be declared as single mother. Any idea on implications on DS-5525.

@ Baauh..
Kk..
I apologise for that....

Is there no way U can communicate with Your wife so U can reach a compromise on how to offset the bills probably by instalment or some other means no matter how small . But going by dis Ur further research on consent forms, it seems U don't want to spend a dime on Ur own blood.
Please forgive Ur In - law's although their actions were unreasonable but they felt they did what was best for their daughter and grandchild..
Cheer Up Mister d birth announcement of a child brings unity from friends n foes alike...
Dis is not a time to draw the sword with In - law's n wifey but ya all should come together to proffer solution on the way forward.

@dere5
No she wasnt asked if she is pregnant and she will not be traveling for the course she got the visa for.
It could go either way. She can send a mail to the embassy informing them that she wants to use the visa for birthing or she can decide to just go ahead and travel with the visa,if the class of visa covers traveling for health reasons.
What ever option she decides on,she should do her home work very well o i.e have a good reason for not going for the course and should be able to convince them that at poe that her original intention for applying for the visa was for a course and not for birthing ,so it wont be like she planed to use it for birthing from the begining and lied about it, hold enough cash at hand that can cover medical and other expensis, this will convince them at poe that she can pay her bills, have detailed doctor and hospital correspondence stating bill brake down etc

I thought I was reading novels or watching film. Pls Baauh, go and settle your family dispute at home. Accept solutions that experienced and learned nairalanders have proffered and if you think is difficult. all the best

baauh:
Please I don't want to ruin this valuable thread by my bad experience. I am very worried that's why asking all possibilities

My in laws did delivery in very expensive hospital of New York.
Me and my wife were not on good terms. My father in law
forced me to let her go for delivery. They kept me ignorant. however I always asked them to pay by cash. Which they didn't I just come across the situation now when they asked for the consent and in return I asked for the receipts.

Please advise me properly how I can get rid of situation where I don't ruin my future chances of visa. shouldn't I write to American embassy here and tell all the wrong stuff did by my in laws and cancel my visa.

@Kizluv
how can she still get passport without my consent.
If suppose my child is not able to get passport, he can still get later on from the consulate if all issues are resolved later on.
Sorry for keeping thread flooded with my queries.

JEEZ, baauh!!!! can you stop already, your wife can obtain a US passport without you, take it or leave it. so you want to resolve the issue b4 giving consent, why not give consent first, and stop thinking of if you can re-enter the US, isnt the baby yours? now you want her to wait and wait and over stay her 6 months. don't apologies for flooding the thread, stop flooding it. I must admit this forum has been so informational.I have a little situation and need some advise.
I obtained my US visa in Nigeria almost five years ago while I was working there and was a resident.I later moved to Ghana and have been using the visa since.by the way am Ghanaian and hold a Ghana passport.
My question is,do I need to consult the embassy and tell them about my change of travel purpose or just leave it as it is and use the visa for birthing.I sent them a general email without identification just to know their response..
I off course intend to pay all bills but don't want any whahala when I have to renew my visa.
Thanks and I will be awaiting response..
God bless

You can decide to email the embassy or not,it all depends on you,but whatever you decide just read this thread very well and make adequate preperations for poe.. The american embassy will still know that you had a child in america when you go for renewal of your visa,so keep your receipts and your letter of zero balance because they will ask for it.

Hello House,

I want to know if I can rent a bed or 2 bed house for short stay, I found some around Richmond that are affordable, so my question is can I rent it and use it as reservation for visa application?

Thanks.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by mamaomas: 7:20pm On Feb 02, 2015
Hello People, great forum here! Been following this thread for about 2 weeks and my brain is saturated with all kinds of info (very relevant though). I have gotten answers to a lot of questions just by going thru this thread but I still need more clarification on some issues.
Now 2 my questions... I have a valid US Visa which I obtained in November, was a few weeks pregnant at the time which I was unaware of (suspected though). VO asked if I was and my response was 'not to my knowledge".
Our intention (hubby n i) was to go on vacation in November but I had a terrible early preggy experience so I couldn't make it.
We have now decided that I have d baby in the states and I understand from my reading this forum that I can send a letter to the embassy and state my change in travel plans (ie using the visa for birthing purposes).
I have read here abt people that have similar issues and have written to the embassy and gotten the standard response.
Now my husband for some reason does not buy the idea as he claims he knows of about 2 people that got thier visa cancelled after notifying the embassy, he is of the opinion that if we have all d necessary correspondence from d hospital and with strong financial evidence/burden of proof that we can foot our medical bills then we should be fine when we get to any POE.
I've tried persuading him but he is really sceptical about sending the letter..
Abeg my good people advise me.... do I have any other options?
