I got a complete MSc ebook from University of Aberdeen on Formation Evaluation and Petrophysics and will like to be a master in it on my own. I'm looking for a software I can practice with.

I know of Interactive Petrophysics, PowerLog and Techlog... I heard Techlog by Schlumberger is quite good with rich user interface. I am not a Petrophysicist. I'm more familiar with theories than software experience. I really wish I could help you out. Recently, I also wanted to give it a shot. But I've been extremely occupied. I managed to get the software and also the manual i guess, but had problems with license. Once i'm able to go over it, i'd share with you. Before then, you can menage in a quick hunt online. Just stumbled on this thread. Goodday bros @ifoundmyperfect this thread seems to be restricted to only reservoir. Unfortunately for me I like every other branch of pet.engineering but this. It's not something I'd love to do because I might end up being frustrated. Stuffs on reservoir simulation, eclipse, static & dynamic models are stuffs I don't easily click with. Please I'd be so glad if you could share anything on formation evaluation, petrophysics, well completion, drilling, production. I wish I could take petrel & eclipse serious but the truth is I don't know why I don't like reservoir eng. I kinda think its the hardest branch of petroleum engineering. Back in school my reservoir simulation was a C. I don't want to learn a software & end up being an average user just for the sake of learning. Thanks in advance & am waiting for your advice just like the ones you give active followers of this thread

Why will you conclude you are an average student and feel you can't do better because you never got to perform well in a course? Haba! It doesn't work that way. If it does, we'd have handful of failures scattered across the globe. Let me use myself for an example. Some weeks ago, I opted to delve into a research that had to do with Geostatistics. This is a course I dreaded so much and never passed way back in school. Notwithstanding, i didn't let that deter me. I carried out thorough research on the subject. Today the paper is near completion. While that was ongoing, I feel in-love with an area in Petroleum Engineer/Biotechnology ( Enhanced Oil Recovery). During my familiarization with enhanced oil recovery, I found out a particular technique which I considered effective but wasn't fully acceptable in the industry. With that in view, I opted to write a research paper on it. I am a Geoscientist. First degree, Geology and Second in Geophysics. I am not a Petroleum Engineer! Neither am I a Biotechnologist ( I also always hated biology back in school). If you have an idea on how much this tiny brain of ours can take, you wont condemn yourself the way you just did. I discovered that we are our own limit. Trials are not equiprobable. If you fail today, its doesn't mean you will fail if you keep trying. Please learn to encourage yourself more. This thread ended with the note ...Be empowered, Enriched & Enlightened. If you are trying to learn something by being taught and you don't comprehend, it may be because the tutor doesn't know dat subject well enough to teach it or your brain cells needs to be exercised to boost your comprehension. Please, if you have got love for Reservoir Engineering, go for it. If your passion is elsewhere, go for it too. Do anything asides condemning yourself and believing some areas are meant only for the so-called gifted. You are Gift too. Find yourself by yourself. Cheers!
