Whynotthetruth:Honestly , i have not seen the impact , having said that , the amount of Money allocated to these power generation project for the past six years have not generated much looking at the MW produced exponetially , if i was jonathan adviser , i will heavilyly subsidised portable generation of power via solar panels for family homes , and water windmills power generation...secondly i will looking into those evil people that sell generators that are pulling back the efforts of power generation because of personal interest .. thirdly i will recruit a world major power generation consortium to fix this thing once and for all . like the one dubai and uae govt used ...nigeria biz men are too complex to be involved in electricity generation because too much money is being made by those that sell diesel and generator ....if we will be going in circles |

Whynotthetruth:Yes. Agric policy: Fine...but we are miles away from being a major agric producer. Recall they sang the same song about OBJ and his cassava strides. If we want to make agric big in Nigeria....we have to increase the number of large scale farmers. And we have to invest more in scientific farming too. Auto policy: ok.(And I am a fan of Mr Innoson....he's the man!). But...most of the plants are still assembly in Nigeria parts....and they remind me uncomfortably of the 1970's...when...we had several automotive plants, and lots of cars (by 1980...Peugeot was producing 1000 cars a day) But once oil prices fell....it got difficult to sustain that production.By 1994...PAN was down to 30 peugeots a day....alll because fall in oil prices meant that it became too expensive to import CKD parts to assemble in Nigeria. And Ajaokuta is still not functioning. Most of those 70's plants were functioning.....on the promise that Ajaokuta would be ready by the early 80's. That did not happen. And it is still yet to happen. As at the last time I passed by Ajaokuta (May 2014) it was still not operating. Now the oil prices are down. Let's see how we sustain the car manufacturing thing....without Ajaokuta working. Plus....how many technically trained people do we have? How many indigenous automotive engineers do we have.? Are our schools able to train people to meet the demands for jobs? And what about power? Local content initiative: again means nothing...unless Ajaokuta is working....and unless we have power. As it is....we are not even producing enough power to meet daily demand of 12000mw.....Talkless of sustaining industrial development. How many companies can meet the demand for car parts, etc (I don't know...and neither do you)> And why talk about initiative? I am old enough to recall talk about the National development plans, the Vision 2020...and so on. Enough talking....action.This PDP govt is like talkative in Pilgrim's Progress....talks about how they will do this and that. In summary.....what this govt should have done since 2010....was to focus on Power, education, and railways.....and forget about everyting else. Don;t even talk about intiatives. And by now...we would have been in a position to sustain our industrial development. That is one mistake we in Nigeria keep making. We use our oil money for prestige projects. We do not spend it more on the vitals. And it is the vitals....like power, railways(proper railways...not them refurbishment they do), technical education, etc that keep us moving. So that we can have enough to keep foreign investors in the country long term....not so that we can do show show. |

Whynotthetruth:dis is d mistake dat most nigerians make. because it is frm TI, it must be correct no matter how wrong it is. Guy, Transparency international is a wholly corporate funded special interest lobbying group. While they may include professional, dedicated, & immensely sincere people, d sum of their effort is to advance d collective interests of d corporations dat populate d board of directors & fund dem. Bottom line - they ar prone to all sorts of influences. At times they issue misleading propaganda to support a pre-determined narrative. It is worthy of note dat Soludo accused Okonjo-Iweala of forging & manipulating national statistics. dis may or may not be relevant. However it's nothing short of gullibity to believe a report frm whichever quarters dat seeks to turn logic on its head by saying dat corruption is in decline under dis govt whose guiding belief is dat stealing is not corruption. Think! smh. |

MRLINGTON:Mr. Man if you don't have information about some issues it's better you shut up than misleading gullible people. Who told you Barth Nnaji resigned because of generator importers? For your information, he resigned when it was discovered that he has stake in one of the companies that won the bid to buy NEPA. So he resigned as a result of conflict of interest |

The highly respected Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa is a man whose views I always take seriously. A man of high integrity, impeccable character, and an unblemished reputation. . No one can accuse him of bias or collecting bribes from Jonathan. His opinion is based on a purely subjective but fair assessment of Jonathan's administration, and I agree with him 100%. |

I know you wouldn't have rubbished them if they had said that corruption has increased in nigeria. In fact you would have made reference to them to butress your point. Now their statistics didn't favour you and they have suddenly become unreliable. Please if you know u can't counter their statistics just shut up! |

saintandsinnerz:I'm not Iweala, d artful forger, who was cited by Soludo as a forger & manipulator of national data/statistics. Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. U can continue to throw tantrums & show ur ignorance on dis public forum if it makes u feel better. All I'm telling u frm knowledge is dat u should take many of d reports frm dis international NGOs wit a pinch of salt. I'm sure dat u ar among d gullible ones dat swallow hook, line & sinker d reports of groups like Human Rights Watch who allege human right abuses against our troops fighting boko haram. As i said earlier groups like TI, HRW etc ar used to arrive at a pre-determined narrative. d USA state dept even goes further by managing an array of extra-legal networks of NGOs & propaganda organizations like Movements.org dat recruit & train foreign protesters & support their efforts as they return home to incite unrest & regime change. In d developed world there hav been calls 4 Transparency International to stop their popular CPI as it's hard to see a justification 4 its continuing publication. I know what u don't know. Many of TI's reports ar deficient as they rely on opinions of a small group of experts & businesspeople. Guy, shine ur eyes |

WisdomFlakes:Only a Nigerian living abroad and only reading opposition news media will think of GEJ's administration as the worst. As Mr. Ohuabunwa wrote, this administration has achieved a lot under difficult circumstances. The average Nigerian is hardly objective nor open minded. Though they improve with education. If you disagree with the position of the article, please write a rebuttal. |

bushdoc9919:Of course you are right. They need money to make the progress. Don't you think so? With oil prices poised to even go lower, we are in for a rough ride going forward. If GEJ wins, he will need to fortify the economic management team. And they should stop bowing to pressure from selfish politicians. Okonjo Iweala wanted to save more of the excess crude money but the politicians frustrated that move. Some of those politicians are among the people chanting change. Who is fooling who? |

This successful industrialist has exposed Soludo for what he represents and who he is and also given him a run for his money and I can't wait to hear Soludo's reply. For all those that have refused to see anything good in GEJ, we are fully aware of why your warped mind is already made up to insult and malign him in all manner even if he decides to spoonfeed you.But let me also remind you people that the man that cries can as well see what's is going on around him. JONATHAN ,BRING DOWN THIS HOUSE OF DECEIT AND INJUSTICE IF THEY STOP YOU FROM BUILDING IT. |
| Re: Let's Be Fair; Jonathan Has Done Well On The Economy. By Sam Ohuabunwa. by AreaFada2: 3:20am On Feb 06, 2015 |
Whynotthetruth:. While being frugal is good in government, a country like Nigeria with decayed or non-existent infrastructure clearly needed & needs investment, upgrade, improvement, whatever. In criticising GEJ's money management/investment in capital projects, he should have focused on whether we got value for our money. With facts and analogies from all over the world. To condemn the investments in favour of saving is epic fail. How can one condemn building new Fed universities when some Nigerians are paying huge tuition fees studying in Ghana, some of the schools housed in portakabins? Or the airports that were falling apart? Or railway? Failure to invest over 40 years is what prompted GEJ's spending. |
