First case scenario: A Jonathan win Feb.14 Nigerians head to the polls to vote for who will occupy the top position in the next four years in the most heavily contested presidency in her history. Series of isolated violent clashes in the north start emerging early on Friday in places like Bauchi, Kano, Zaria and in parts of Lagos. Security operatives quickly contain the situation but the atmosphere is tense in urban areas in the southwest and also in major cities to the north. At the close of the polls by 4pm, results begin streaming in. Early collated results late on feb.14 show a slim lead by Gen. Buhari of the APC. Feb. 15. Early in the morning of Feburary 15, the final results indicate a Jonathan win. The APC quickly issues a statement that if their candidate is not returned by INEC then they will reject the results and in a few days time set up a parallel govt. Protesters stream the streets in cities like Kano, Zaria, Bauchi, Kaduna, Yola demanding for INEC to return Buhari as the winner. Churches are targeted in Bauchi and Sabon Giri area of Kano with some worshippers killed. |

Monday, Feb 16. Nigerians wake up to Confirmation of a Jonathan win by INEC. Gen Buhari in a press conference rejects the poll result. When asked what he or his party intends to do, party chieftain and campaingn manager to Buhari, Governor Rotimi Amaechi interrupts abruptly and states in clear terms that the APC is fully perpeared to form a parallel govt. Prominent figures like Obasanjo, Soyinka, Emir of Kano, Sultan of Sokoto and others reject the outcome of the polls as rigged. The US ambassador reiterates this view and states that from all indications ( only God knows what indicators) the elections appeared to have been rigged. The US govt gives this another stamp of disapproval with a message from the secretary of state John Kerry stating the same view of that of the US ambassador. |

Thursday, 19 Feb. Riots from the previous day escalate further. The situation gets more precarious in places like Kaduna, north Jos local government and Zaria with the riots having a sectarian twist to it. More churches are burnt and businesses owned by southerners are targeted. The pogrom is about to begin. Meanwhile, in the south hoodlums are having a field day looting and robbing people. Police use deadly force to disperse looters in shopping mall. The US govt, through the secretary of state condemns the "killings" of "innocent protesters" by Nigeria security officers. Funny thing this will be their first statement ignoring the sectarian violence and killings going on by the APC supporters in the north. |

Friday, Feb. 20 Across northern Nigeria, imans urge their fellow Muslims to defend their votes and to reject in entirety Goodluck government. Jumat services ends with Muslims making a march protest across major cities in the north. It goes all down hill from here with the riots now having an ethno religious tone. The pogroms begin and last all night. |

kettykin: I believe the era of northern muslims killing christians over perceived global anti-muslim events are over. The Boko Haram terrorists have killed enough christians and muslims to last a lifetime for their fellow blood sucking northern muslims. The prediction of riots and wanton killings in the north over the failure of Buhari still stands. |

Saturday, Feb. 21 A convoy of southerners fleeing the north the previous day, where ambushed and slaughtered in Lokoja and Okenne. The violence quickly engulfs places like Minna, Bida, Ilorin and Keffi. Ohaneze issue a statement from a meeting held with representatives of the Niger Delta minority group condemning the violence and killing of innocent civilians in the north. Arewa Consultation Forum alongside other northern groups state that Jonathan must step down or the violence will continue. El Rufai goes on to ask the military to step in. Asari Dokubo responds by stating that anything other than a Jonathan presidency will see the Niger delta pull out completely from the union. Western Nations and their media ignore the killings and demand for Jonathan to step down. Anti Igbo sentiments rise in the southwest. Igbos and other minority groups start leaving the southwest back to their respective states. Hoodlums attack convoys on Benin-Ore rd. |

Sunday, 22 Feb. President Jonathan makes a last minute appeal for calm and peace and formally invites chieftains of the APC and their flag bearer Buhari to a peaceful arbitration headed by Koffi Annan. The APC responds by stating that they will not attend and that they will not participate in the gubernatorial elections slated for feb. 28 after boycotting that of the national assembly. |

Monday, 23 Feburary. US president Obama, when asked in his weekly press confrencenc about the escalating crisis openly criticizes Jonathan for failing to conduct free and fair elections. When asked how the US arrived that the tightly conducted polls which saw Jonathan returned on a very slim margin 51%, was rigged, Obama will answer that all preliminary evidence points to the fact that the Nigerian presidential elections were rigged. When asked what his administration intends to do, the US president stated that only a truly elected civilian government will be allowed and that his administration was preparing sanctions against the current administration. When asked if the his administration will rather deal with a military regime than the current adminstration as muted by some prominent opposition figures in Nigeria, Obama said that his administration is opened to all avenues to return Africa's largest economy back to normalcy. |

Thursday, 26 Feburary. Rumours spread that Jonathan and his entire family alongside some of his close aides where killed in the coup. All sh1t hits the fan. Obama does not condemn the act. He doesn't even deem it worthy of his comment. The western media play this as a mere rumor claiming that their sources within the new military government confirm that Jonathan is hail and healthy and is in a secure location. The Niger delta militants restart their insurgency by shutting down oil facilities and sacking military formations in their midst. The civil war began 12 days after the polls. |
