The postponement of election in our country Nigeria is purely our own internal affairs and as such US and
countries of d world have no biz as far as we are sovereign nation. In fact, US have no reason to be
disappointed, or better still they (US) will continue to be disappointed cuz we will continue to do things in
our own way and as it suits us. US refused to sell weapons to Nigeria to prosecute war against terrorism
under the pretends of human rights, they stopped patronizing in the purchase of Nigerian oil all because
they see Nigeria as potential rival in African continent. They are sponsoring Boko Haram in Nigeria as a
away to contain the rivalry of Nigeria against the US using their CIA & refusal of sales of weapon. US will
fail in their plans to cause the dismemberment of Nigeria nation because God is on the side of Nigeria. God
will continue to frustrate US and some Nigerian elements like,Oby,Ameachi & co whom out of poverty of
their brains & minds,selfishness and ego, have made themselves available to be used by US forces against
their own country. The postponement of the said ELECTION from February to March & April does not
change the handing over date,so how does it affect our democracy? After all ,previous elections were
conducted in April,so what is our stress now? Ameachi, out of his usual arrogant, pomposity, ego &
immaturity had said will take to the street to protest the postponement of the election,we are waiting and
watching. Security of lives & properties is not something to toy with,cuz during and after election there are
bound to be crises that could lead to destruction of lives & properties, so why should any man with his
right frame of mind allow election to go on or take place without security? This singular action of Jega has
proofed the stuff he is made of. There are eggs and there are eggs.

I decided a long time ago, not to vote for either PDP or APC in this election because in don't believe either of them. But what is true should be said. Holding elections on the 14th would have led to a calamity. In 2011, there was bloodshed and violence, but after that (as a result of militarisation) we saw violence free elections in Edo, Ekiti, and Osun. Those elections were not just free and fair, but also violence free (thanks to the military). Now the military has said because it would be focused on the NE, it cannot guarantee security, yet people still want elections to go on. If you follow the news you'd know that violence is already cooking up. PDP has nothing to gain from this postponement, the same way APC has nothing to lose, infact APC just has one more reason to throw stones at the president. The biggest gainers are those who are yet to get their PVC's and those who are in areas that are prone to violence.

Election postponement on grounds of Boko Haram is a flawed argument. Boko Haram has been in control of 17 out of 774 (abi na 777) LGs. Is that enough to stop a national process? Party primaries went ahead, election registration went ahead....etc etc.

The military claims to have captured territories from BH. Why is the govt still talking about 17 LGs under BH caliphate? Someone is lying.

If in 6 weeks, they cannot crush Boko Haram in totality, at what point is it ok to hold the elections? 15, 10, 5 or 2 LGs under BH caliphate? We are being deceived.

Jega's hands are tied. I won't blame him. Any elections now will only send people to their graves because PDP will create chaos to prove Jega wrong.

Knowing this dumb govt, they will commit a huge blunder and it will be downhill for Nigeria from there. OBJ foisted this irresponsible set of humans on us.

This is the first time since we returned to democracy that the INEC Boss will openly take orders from the NSA, the Military and members of pro-PDP as regards election scheduling and rescheduling. Since when has the Military activities determines elections scheduling? The Electoral Act and the Constitution did not say NSA, Military and INEC should determine election date. Even if there is crises in a part of the country, Section 26(1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (amended) permit INEC to hold election in the peaceful area and reschedule for the trouble zone at a convenient date. Why can't Jega invoke this section and exclude Gombe, Borno, Adamawa and Yobe from Feb 14 and Feb 28 poll until March 28 and Aprill 11 respectively? Since when do we need the Military for election? What is the Statutory duties of the Police, the NSCDC, and by extension the DSS with respect to internal security? If personnels are not enough then why not bring in other paramilitary to assist? The delay is highly contentious and will be seen by many Nigerians as foul play. What is not clear at this stage is whether it will favour President Goodluck Jonathan or his rival, Muhammadu Buhari.

Attahiru Jega made a point of saying this was a decision taken by the electoral commission but clearly the "referee" was under intense pressure.

The Boko Haram conflict has raged for five years but just days before the vote, Professor Jega was suddenly told the entire military would be focused solely on the north-east - in other words, "you are getting no help from the military, you are on your own". With the threat of violence so real, he was put in a tight corner.

It seems highly unlikely that the conflict will be brought to an end within the next few weeks, so will the election be held at all? That may depend on whether some powerful personalities feel President Jonathan is well placed for a victory.

Take easy bros; we are all pained by this development. However, I dont blame Prof Jega. There was no way he could have conducted election under such atmosphere, PDP is looking for excuse to sack Jega and replace him with someone sympathetic to their course. Am sure they were ready to cause violence had Jega insisted on going ahead, they are ANIMALS and will do anything to remain in power. Violence would have given them excuse to form an interim government with GEJ as the head, Jega would have been charged and convicted foe treason ( conducting election agaist security advice). We are patiently waiting to #march4buhari.

Brother, Jega's hands weren't tied, yes there was pressure here and there but the decision was his to make. That he bowed to them showed he isn't assertive and hence, incompetent. We need assertive leaders in power not bending elements like Jega

If PDP doesnt know, the postponement is a disadvantage to it. If the election is held on the 28th of March and INEC selects GEJ as winner, what and how do you think the reaction will be?
