For the cohesion of the Nigerian experiment it is high time for the emergence of an Igbo President from SE. With the rotational nature of Nigerian politics if a northerner wins this election the next President should rotate to the SE. It is the only region that has not taken the reigns of the ultimate position in Nigeria; save for the short period after the 1st coup when Gen Ironsi assumed the position, by virtue of being the senior military Gen after the Nzegwu led coup. The emergence of an Igbo president has been problematic firstly due to their lack of unity to agree on a single formidable candidate, there is also the yoke of the civil war, the impression amongst other regions that an Igbo president may not be trustworthy and may hasten the breakup of Nigeria. Following APGA's (largely Igbo supported party) endorsement of GEJ; Ndigbo seem to be fully in support of GEJ’s candidacy, this appears to be a naive political calculation and strategic mistake, their stay in the doldrums away from the presidency will continue for at least another 12 years all things being equal. They ought to have tactfully remained nuetral imploring thier supporters to vote APGA for state & legislative positions but vote with their conscience for the presidency. If GEJ wins, the next president is most likely to be a Northerner and that president is likely to run for two terms. If GMB wins after his mandate the presidency is likely to rotate to the south. The SE should be scouting and grooming for their candidate now who will be ready for elections in four years time or eight years. Zik had a few chances but lost his oppurtunity by liaising with the British to support Tafawa Balewa in 1959 and in failing to agree a unified candidate between himself and Awolowo in 1979 & 1983. Funny enough Ojukwu would have been an interesting President of FRN had he played his cards right. He spoke both Hausa & Yoruba fluently lived in all parts of Nigeria, he was well educated, eloquant & knowledgable but flawed by an overbloated ego; like most Presidents, which was his eventual downfall. Despite the numerous areas of synergy and intermingling of peoples there has been no unification between the West & East in Nigerian politics which would be a formidable partnership along with progressive elements in the North & SS to propel the nation forward Our prediction is that Goodluck’s main support will come from SS, SE and minute pockets in SW & NC. He is unlikely to win in the North as he didn’t win there in 2011 when factors were more favourable for him. For Buhari to win he needs all the support of the SW pockets of SS or SE plus majority vote from his base in the North, NE votes are not predictable but has core APC support. What are your thoughts are you in support of an Igbo President to end Igbo marginalisation, if so what steps are being taken to make this a reality who is a good candidate. Or do you think Nigeria is not ready for an Igbo president and why not. If not now when, for One Naija |

Igbos don't really love themselfs they don't do like brothers they are traitors and betrayals that is why they've not gotten close to even vice president |

kestolove95:Nigerian politics needs to move beyond its tribal base Igbo vote for OBJ 2003 may have been because it was in the best interest of the East and maybe OBJ was the best candidate at the time. West voted en-mass for GEJ in 2011 rejecting their own ACN candidate Ribadu. Im not against Igbo supporting GEJ in principle but rather exposing the long term negative consequences of such support, it is time that a new breed of leaders emerge from Ndigbo that can bridge the East West divide. I dont understand why there are so many parties.Electoral rules should bar parties from future presidential elections if they dont manage to attain a minimum number of voters in each state or say 1% of voters across in least 2/3 of the states |

StunningCEO:This blanket statement is clearly not true. For one Naija all zones need to be at the helm of power. So their time will come. The question is when will that time come and how are they preparing for that time. The future Igbo President will be a new politician who will have to cross over and appeal to all regions |

nigerinstitute:They had better join hands with jonathan now to scuttle project Nigeria for if Nigeria continues to exist beyond 2015, they will smell their a55es! Not only will they never lead the country, they will be calculatedly marginalised and I mean severely and it will be deservedly so. Okoros, if you have ears, ensure that Nigeria ceases this year o otherwise you are on your own! |

Continue dreaming. Had it been you supported Buhari in his first two attempts, who knows the Igbos might have had a President by now. But you betrayed us and deny your sons to clinch the VP slots. So continue dreaming. |

Igbo president will never happen in Nigeria. Igbo already has their chance in their son Badluck Azikwue Ebele Jonathan and that is final. |

Igbos have the men and the clout to rule not only nigeria but produce a first black British prime minister and another black president of United States. igbos more than any tribe has contributed to the growth and existence of Nigeria and as such igbos more than any tribe or group has more claim to the presidency of Nigeria |

| Re: Time For An Igbo President by Tomoarika(m): 6:23am On Feb 11, 2015 |
In due time. However, first you need to learn to play politics as it should. There are no permanent friends or enemies in politics only interest. Referring to people from SW as Ofe Mmanu and North as Almajiri won't win you friends. Claiming Lagos as No Man's Land won't either. Also claiming marginalisation from other tribes due to Civil War (however true this may be) isn't helping. The wise ones have learnt lessons and moved on. The corrupt leaders still make deals with other tribes in private but openly proclaim other tribes as your enemies. Begin to strategise on how to align with other tribes. Right now, Rochas is arguably the best placed from the major parties to actualise this dream. Yet a lot of Igbos even refused to support him dis last time. Permit me to say this, No one will simply "give" you presidency because its your time. That's like a graduate sitting at home waiting for a job cause he has graduated afterall and its the duty of Govt to provide jobs. |

Igbos are blessed folks and fit to rule Nigeria .Igbos have a work ethic, they love education and are the most industrious people. With an Igbo at the helm in Aso Rock I see Naija becoming like Singapore. Some tribes were born to rule, thats a fact(and I ain't even Igbo) |
