smsdigito:I use to get angry a lot when i read comment form guys like until i was told that the Govt pay people like you to be on social media like this but some of you are just filled with so much hatred they can use their brain effectively. If you haven't listened to the infamous presidential media chat which your president said ' corruption is not stealing' you should try and do that, he said and i quote 'Over 70% of what are called corruption offences, even by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-corruption agencies, is not corruption, but COMMON stealing.” I can go on and on about this but i know is not gonna make any difference to you, we should all continue with what we are doing but you should know we all live in this country directly or indirectly the Govt ineffectiveness will affect us all. |

To steal is to be morally corrupt. When you are in power and you steal/ embezzle funds. That is corruption plain and simple. To steal in govt, bribery, forgery, theft is always involved. Giving out contracts to dud companies or friend/ relatives who will certainly give a cut ( bribe) Govt money can never be pulled out of the bank or stolen directly by a person in power. Stealing in govt is done by awarding contracts, excessive expenses eg private jets, limos, exotic cars and hotels. Bottomline stealing= corruption. |

It is so unfortunate and painful to note that in the midst of all the troubles in this country: missing girls, missing billions, displaced people, low unemployment and so on.., all my president could talk about is how to use words correctly,.. who cares whether stealing is corruption or not,.. All I know is both are immoral and anyone who commits any should be punished.. Jonathan please tell us what you will do differently if you want another four years.. But if you're going to continue with this same style of passive governance,.. Please get out!.. No hard feelings,.. But we cant continue with this style of governance,.. Nigeria need a change!!! |

. . . . . .what Jonathan initially said; "Over 70% of what they call corruption in Nigeria, is mere common theft. The word corruption is being abused, it's just mere theft." . . . . . . . what he now says; "Our people hate thieves more than corrupt people, yet most times, we use corruption to cover the lapses. A thief should be called a thief and treated as such. In my village, when an adult steals, they strip him unclad, humiliate him and his family, but if you say this man is corrupt, they won’t know what you are talking about. We are using corruption to cover it all up" . . . . . .note the "mere theft" in the first quote . . . . . .this is what | law | Encyclopedia Britannica defines theft; "theft, in law, a general term covering a variety of specific types of stealing, including the crimes of larceny, robbery, and burglary. Theft is defined as the physical removal of an object that is capable of being stolen without the consent of the owner and with the intention of depriving the owner of it permanently" . . . . . .the law dictionary defines corruption as; "Illegality; a vicious and fraudulent intention to evade the prohibitions of the law. The act of an official or fiduciary person who unlawfully and wrongfully uses his station or character to procure some benefit for himself or for another person, contrary to duty and the rights of others" . . . . . .the question to ask Mr. Jonathan and his likes; is theft or stealing not an illegality? is stealing and theft by a government person not a breach of fiduciary? is theft/stealing not evading the prohibitions of the law? . . . . . .if a director in the pensions board diverts/withholds funds meant for pensioners to his personal use, is that not robbery? hasn't he robbed the owners (pensioners) permanently? is robbery not theft? is this act of the director not an act of using his official station to procure benefits to himself contrary to the rights of others (pensioners)? doesn't this act fall under the definition of corruption? |

Nigerians are really gullible people. When an officer steals while in office , that officer is a corrupt officer because the money he/she stole was meant for some other project. That officer is termed to be a corrupt officer. So why on earth is someone tell me that stealing is not corruption? So what makes corrupt officers? If not stealing..always remember that misappropriation of public funds is stealing. My people abeg make una wake up. |

Democracy can be interesting with all this Dogo Turan chi. Stealing is not corruption because it was written in the files that they stole money. In those cases of corruption that was written as stolen, did or did it not involve manipulation of records to be able to steal public funds. If he supports that stealing is not corruption and he talked about what is been done in his village to anyone who stole, then I think we need to start executing jungle justice on anyone who steal public funds as stealing is not corruption and they are "Ole". |

I believed that the essence of identifying a thief is to either discourage such with punishment or encouraged such without punishing such individual for the act committed . mr president is not making any effort in discouraging political thief. aka pen robbers. |

bushdoc9919:Not exactly..'Corruption' does not have to involve money.Pls get that into your head..For example, two men having s*x is a corruption of our values as Africans..Forging of a secondary school Certificate is Corruption.. Wonder the kind of schools people attend these dayys that's making comprehension so hard. |

mr president should just accept the fact that he made a wrong statement that ought to have not been uttered out in the public. Buhari is not a saint neither is mr president, but as for me and my family we shall take our thumb to the polling boot come this march, we shall vote out unemployment, corruption, economy instability, suffering, political instability, inflation, labor strike etc. |

jadakiss213: The question should be what kind of education you received that would make you draw a line of separation between stealing and corruption. Q: IS STEALING A VICE? A: YES Q: IS CORRUPTION A VICE? A: YES Q: DOES STEALING EMANATE FROM A PURE/RIGHTEOUS MIND? A: NO Q: DOES STEALING EMANATE FROM A CORRUPT/SINFUL MIND? A: YES Q: WITHOUT CORRUPTION WOULD THERE BE STEALING? A: NO Q: WITH CORRUPTION WOULD STEALING EXIST? A: YES Conclusion..... Stealing is synonymous with corruption as one breeds the other. My advice is for you to sit down, clear your mind and THINK! |
