Heard that Uber mobile is the cheapest. $19 per month for 1000 minutes nationwide, and unlimited texts. Google them.

Much better deal... What about data?

please is it okay to go for visa interview with a 3 day hotel reservation and printout of apartments with prices and state that I hope to rent an apartment after viewing them for myself? In actuality, I'll be staying with a friend for the whole childbirth process.

If I were you, I would go with a hotel reservation for my whole stay. It's always better for your story to be as straightforward as possible. You can go stay with your friend afterwards.

Was it at the same Chicago POE that ur friend's own happened? And what exactly do they look for in ur phones and call logs? So that we can all learn and be careful about the kind of sensitive info we leave on our phones. Thanks.
Amother4life:

Immigration lawyer for a non immigrant visa? I hope she doesn't end up wasting her hard earned money on a lawyer. I hope you did not implicate yourself when they were bombarding you with questions because I know for a fact that you must have been exhausted coupled with the fact that they type everything in those their amebo computers .
Getting entry into the United States should never be taken for granted by us no matter how many times we may have had a successful POE. A friend experienced the same treatment a few days ago. She had her first child 2yrs ago and came back this year after a successful renewal. She was taken to secondary and grilled for 4hrs. He bags were searched, phone, emails ,call logs etc. she was stamped in for 3weeks! She had to return home because she is due in April and 3weeks wasn't going to cut it and the clown knew it.. I guess she is fortunate that hers wasn't cancelled. We just need grace at POE . The day such inhuman crap happens to me will be the last time i take my hard earned money back there.

hahahaaaa abeg make una leave zeezahbee alone cheesy grin , well maybe that's just the way she knows how to answer questions best in her own way. After going to research on cancelled without prejudice when I read zeezahbee's post ;it doesn't plainly mean you were given the wrong class of visa or whatever it can also mean----.
Cancelled Without Prejudice: A stamp a U.S. Embassy or Consulate puts on a visa when there is a mistake in the visa or the visa is a duplicate visa (two of the same kind). It does not affect the validity of other visas in the passport. It does not mean that the passport holder will not get another visa.
As for me I believe there is absolutely nothing God can't do, so she can reapply anytime.

@ochioraumu
Please try to remain positive for the baby's sake.
Yes this is very very disappointing and distressing but God will guide you through.

Based on everything you said, the main issue was the "misrepresentation" at the embassy.
Your main purpose of travelling was to see your uncle (yes, even though you mentioned pregnancy and childbirth when asked). The main purpose of travel was vacation invited by uncle.

So these POE officers used that as their reason. Basically that you said you were going on vacay to see your uncle in another state, suddenly you show up at the border on a childbirth visit in another city.
Despite having all the documentation for childbirth (proof of payment, doctor's appt etc...), they were already fixated on the initial issue.

The VO on another thread on Nairaland had previously warned people about this. Another way people circumnavigate this is to send a "change of plans/intent" email to the embassy when plans change. However, it is best to use your visa for the original purpose and you are free after that or if your primary reason for travelling is childbirth, boldly go to the embassy with all the relevant docs and tell them you are going to give birth (like most people on this thread).

I really appreciate you for sharing you story because we can all learn from it even though it is obviously very painful for you.

@Amother4life Yes immigration lawyers give advice on non-immigrant issues. Unfortunately, embassies rarely give detailed explanations on CBP actions though I think there is a formal way to request your file/case notes from the CBP.

@chloe7 Cancelled Without Prejudice and Cancelled With prejudice are different. In this case, it was cancelled with prejudice.

@ochioraumu there is always light at the end of the tunnel. God will see you through and your child will be a blessing to your family regardless of where he or she is born.

Ochioraumu:
Thank you everyone for your advice and sympathy.

Really sorry to read your story, you really need to put yourself together because of your condition.

You can still get another visa because this is the case of misunderstanding, you have your money, you made deposit and did not lie about giving birth in US.

Get the letter the hospital promised you.....not from their agent but from the actual hospital stating clearly that that is cost.

You don't need to spend money on any lawyer or dragging it through long legal process, go and explain things yourself. You will be fine.

Yes of course @lalavita I know they are two different things. The point I was trying to make is that cancelled without prejudice doesn't necessarily mean you had the wrong class of visa.

An immigration lawyer is an expert on immigrant and emigrant related cases .
Secondly you had the right to ask for a lawyer to explain your rights to you at the POE before deportation, which is provided for in every country,They won't refuse or they would have breached protocol.
Thirdly you had the right to ask that your interview be recorded for legal purposes.
Your fit to fly covers a journey of a maximum of 24 hours and not longer so you could have asked for another certification as your fit to fly is invalid and because you are pregnant you are at risk of thromboembolism.
You could also have said you are feeling reduced fetal movement at which point you can't be deported because a doctor must certify your baby was not in danger, reduced fetal movement at any gestational age over 34 weeks will qualify you for an emergency c/section or at least a 3 day monitoring of you and your baby in a hospital by which time esparati would have replied.
This is not to blame you but to enlighten everyone about their rights.
Before she jails you, you have the right to a lawyer and it was a threat cos everything was an allegation no proof.
But with our right being abused everyday in Nigeria we don't know what our rights are.

Exactly what my sister did.... they had even brought out handcuffs and all. She asked for a doctor before she got on any flight and no doctor in their right mind will send you back at that stage... They don't want to be sued either. She said they kept asking if she was a lawyer.
However there's still hope. It's just painful.

@drafrican - I agree with all the points you raised here. The screaming woman was just being intimidating with several unproven allegations. She is a typical bully.

@ochioraumu - Pls take heart and don't let this get to you too much. See the light at the end of the tunnel - your baby. Your baby being born in Nigeria does not take any thing away from what he/she will become in life. God knows you tried your best on this but since it's not working out, try and forget the disappointment and focus on that which is most important. You and your baby.

It is well with you.
