In addition to building structures for classrooms and departments, I hope the school gives a specific, solid modern hostel plan & land in specific parts of the University for private investors to build specific types of students' hostels and maintain them.

This will be a win-win situation as the University will have the types of hostel structures it desires & even collect a little property tax to boost their revenue, the students can be housed on-campus & save on transportation being housed on campus and the private investors can collect accommodation fees (rent) from their building investment inside the university.

Yea, that policy is on ground. The school hostels are built by private individuals. I didn't cover that axis atall. The hostel I snapped was built outside the school.

The hostels within the school are gigantic structures. Maybe any other time I enter Awka I will continue from where I stopped.

The Cargo and the Aviation Fueling capacities Of Umueri International Airport when completed will serve an important role to oil and gas industries in Nigeria . At the moment , Orient Petr . is doing 80k aviation fuel which when the Airport is completed with an increasing capacity will be dump at the Umueri International Airport . Major international Airline such as British Airways , Virgin , Lufthansa ,Iberia etc will come down to umuleri to take Aviation Fuel instead of going to Ghana to take Fuel . Ghana is where they take fuel as we speak now . Willie is working !!!

Details later ....

As he waddled to the centre stage, five-year-old Onyebuchi Arinze had all eyes on him. The midday sun beamed down on him as his little fingers folded around the microphone. Comically dressed in the clothes of an adult with a wrapper strung across his little shoulder, Onyebuchi’s precocious voice rent the air like a hot knife through a slab of butter.

The crowd held its breath as he delivered every line to perfection. Applause rippled through the crowd. His performance came to a glorious end, drawing tears from the eyes of some people.

Little Onyebuchi had just delivered the new Anambra Anthem. It was at the Technology Incubation Centre, Nnewi, where Governor Obiano had gone to launch a skills acquisition and empowerment programme for 500 youths. Moved by Onyebuchi’s amazing performance, Obiano had announced a scholarship for the youngster that would take him from primary school to the university. Onyebuchi is just one of thousands of school children in Anambra State, who have internalised the eternal lines of the melodious Anambra Anthem.

At its formal presentation last June, during the activities marking Obiano’s First 100 days in office, celebrated novelist, Chimamanda Adichie, glowed with pride, an angelic smile lighting up her face when the audience stood up to sing the anthem with the verses scrolling on the big screen. Adichie had just delivered yet another seminal lecture in which she had admitted that there was a time when she didn’t feel proud to come from Anambra State. Entitled, ‘Community and Consensus: My Hope for Anambra State,’ Adichie recalled in the lecture – “But the truth is that I have not always been proud of Anambra. I was ashamed when Anambra became a metaphor for poor governance, when our political culture was about malevolent shrines and kidnappings and burnt buildings, when our teachers were forced to become petty traders and our school children stayed at home, when Anambra was in such disarray that one of the world’s greatest storytellers, Chinua Achebe, raised the proverbial alarm by rejecting a national award.”

Adichie is not alone. Former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku ,had reacted much the same way when he first heard the Anambra Anthem. There, at the gathering of the state’s many great sons and daughters during the Security Fundraising at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, Chief Anyaoku had flittingly shut his eyes while the Anthem was going on, lulled to a blissful state of serenity, allowing the lyrics to drizzle tenderly all over him.

Adichie and Anyaoku are among many people that have felt deeply, the power of Governor Willie Obiano’s invisible efforts to awaken Ndi Anambra. Not many people are aware that beside the roads and flyovers, beside the zero tolerance of kidnappers and violent criminals that Governor Obiano has occasioned in Anambra State, there is a sublime effort to instill a new consciousness in the people, shore up their pride and rebuild the moral fabric of the society. Not many people are aware that there is a subterranean campaign to mould the next generation of Ndi Anambra into a set of rightly turned-out, self-aware, self-respecting and proud citizens of Nnamdi Azikiwe’s home state.

At the heart of this campaign is the concept of the New Anambra, which is driven by what is known as the Spirit of Anambra – a light bearing spirit that is intensely animated by an innate inclination towards excellence. The concept of this magical spirit and its totems were perfectly distilled by Brande Aristortle, a Lagos based communications firm headed by PR guru, Mike Meze and multiple prize-winning novelist, Tony Odili Ujubuonu, who are both from the state. Until the intervention of the duo, the entire idea of the New Anambra had floated in the air like a malevolent spirit awaiting appeasement. The most visible totems of the Spirit of Anambra are the Anambra Anthem, the Anambra Shield (Coat of Arms), the Anambra colours, the Shared values, the Anambra Flag and others. The Anambra Anthem is quite remarkable in its entirety. A fifteen-line verse, it took Odili Ojubuonu 15 strenuous drafts, painstakingly strung together to bring it into being.

The Anambra Shield stands out as a delicate assemblage of outstanding imageries from the cultural milieu of the people.

In it could be seen the iconic Niger bridge, the ivory tusks, palm trees, two pennies, a bronze pot, a representation of the 21 local government areas that make up the state and lush green patch at the base representing the state’s rich agricultural belt. What stands the shield out is the meticulous positioning of these icons to establish a memorable symbol of cultural identity.

In fact, the Anambra Shield is so remarkable that one comes away thinking that it has always been there. Its strength lies in its ability to make you feel as though you have seen it before. It burns a mental picture into the subconscious.

The Shared values of Anambra State consist of 10 memorable creeds that serve as a moral compass for the society. It mirrors in one gush, the idealistic essence of a true ‘Onye Anambra.’ The shared values are taught in schools across the state ,where the pupils are expected not only to memorize them but to live by them.

Awka--Anambra State government said yesterday it would employ 1000 graduates into the state workforce before the end of this month.

Governor Willie Obiano, who gave the cheering news during the inaugural youth leaders camp of National Youth Council of Nigeria at Mbagwu, Awka North Local Government Area of the state, said it was part of the state government's efforts to reduce unemployment.

Obiano, who spoke through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Tony Nnacheta, announced that 450 youths currently in the camp would get automatic employment.

According to him, the state government has other programmes that would benefit the youths of the state.

He added that Anambra State has invested about $1.9 billion in agriculture and technology aimed at boosting youth employment, while about $500 million investment would be coming into the state in a few days, all in the interest of the youth.

He also said government has put in place measures to shore up the state's Gross Domestic Product, GDP, before the end of Obiano's administration.

Nnacheta said the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) had jumped from N400 million to N1.1 billion per month, adding that the state was targeting N2 billion per month before the end of the year.

He urged youths to be more proactive by showing determination to succeed because better opportunities awaited them under Governor Obiano.

In his address, the state chairman of National Youth Council, Frank Maduka, commended the state governor for the unflinching support towards youth empowerment and irrevocable commitment to an all-round youth development in the state.

OBIANO TO TRANSFORM OKPOKO INTO A MODERN COMMUNITYHome Anambra State Obiano to Transform Okpoko into a Modern Community

By ifeadinmesi 16-02-2015 Anambra State, Headlines, News, Nigeria, South East
In line with his government’s programme for the development of major cities and adjoining neighborhoods, the Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano last Friday told residents of Okpoko, a sprawling and densely populated suburb near Upper Iweka Onitsha but in Ogbaru Local government Area, that the state will pursue the gradual transformation of the area into a clean, safe community with modern amenities. Governor Obiano made the pledge during the flag-off of 4.1 kilometre Ogbuagu-Mgbuka-Amazu-Onitsha-Owerri dual carriage road which cuts through the Okpoko community.

Governor Obiano said that contract for the road awarded at the cost of N1.6nb includes the installation of all components of road infrastructure like drainages, street lights, road markings and signs etc. with a completion period of twelve months. Also in a move seen as strengthening the security of lives and property in the area, the governor announced to admiration and applause from the residents, “apart from improving your environments, we have set up a special squad of the Operation Kpochapu to rid Okpoko and environs of hoodlums and miscreants. They have an initial mandate of six months for the implementation of the crime control measures in this area.”Obiano stated.

The governor charged the landlords and the residents to report people of questionable character to the law enforcement agencies, assuring that those who are engaged in legitimate ventures have nothing to fear. He assured that the government will sustain the tempo of development across the state and urged Okpoko residents to cooperate with the contractors to do a good job.

Earlier the Commissioner of Works, Sir Callistus Ilozumba, told the people that the APGA led administration has given the Okpoko community as sense of belonging through the contracture of strategic access roads in the area and the Ogbaru LGA up to the tune of N41bn. He said the new road is going through a difficult terrain and being constructed through massive excavation before sharp sand will be applied with stone base for it to withstand the challenges of the topography. He called on the Okpoko community to reciprocate the government programmes for them with support for APGA in the elections.

Also speaking, Member Representing Ogbaru 1 Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Benson Nwawulu thanked the governor for the actualization of the dream of the community through the award of the very important road which had been neglected by previous administrations. He assured that the people will stand by his government and APGA candidates.

Returning Gabros Target Top 3 Finish In the NPFL

Gabros International Football Club, Nnewi, says its target is to be among the top three clubs on the table at the end of the 2014/2015 season. Olisa Onuchukwu, Coordinator of the team, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nnewi on Sunday that the club was targeting a place on the African continent this season. NAN reports that the 2014/2015 season is the club’s first since returning to the elite division.

The Nnewi based side returned to the Glo Premier League with 50 points alongside 3SC of Ibadan having played in the lower division, where they have been since 2005.

Onuchukwu, a former foreign consultant to Enyimba International, said part of the strategies to achieve the objective was the engagement of Mitko Dobrev, a Bulgarian coach from Accra Heart of Oaks.

The ex-international said 18 players were retained from the Nigerian National League team, while new introductions were being made with four Cameroonian and three Ghanaians players. Onuchukwu said the club was being repositioned to make it a model in Africa and a delight for fans as they were set to ruffle the big feathers in the premier division.
“I am fully ready to make Gabros the pride of the league and I promise Nigerians the best of football. We have engaged the famous Bulgarian football coach, Mitko Dobrev and his salary per month is 10,000 U.S. dollars; so you can see our seriousness.

“Gabros is going to be a model club not just in Nigeria but in Africa and you know we also have a culture of developing young and raw talents here; I am talking about the likes of Austin Ejide, Taiye Taiwo, Obinna Nwaneri and others. The young players here, would also benefit.

“The target is to be among the top three clubs at the end of the season and book a place on the continent’’, Onuchukwu said.

Gabros FC returns from Europe tour

A MEMBER of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Elections Appeals Committee, Victor Nwangwu, has commended Gabros International FC over the team’s successful tour of Europe, saying the newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side boosted the country’s image.

The former secretary of Anambra State football Association noted that the club portrayed the country in bright light after taking 16 players and three officials on a playing tour of Europe with all of them returning home without anyone absconding.

“It shows all hopes are not entirely lost for Nigeria football despite Super Eagles not qualifying for the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea”, the former Enugu Rangers ace said.

“This is a big boost to Nigeria’s image abroad. It shows integrity, professionalism and corporate image not only for the club but also the country”, Nwangwu stressed.

He urged other football clubs in the country to borrow a leaf from Gabros FC on issues bothering on professional ethics and integrity in an effort to move the nation forward and restore the country’s image in the world.

Gabros played four matches in Europe and won all, with striker Michael Ohanu scoring seven goals in the four matches, just as Emeka Isaac scored six in the four games with the duo emerging as the toast of European clubs.

Sweet. Good news!
Was wandering when a football club from Anambra will compete at the elite division again. Thank God Anaedo boys are back. Mistakes of the past shouldn't be repeated.
What of Anambra united? are they still existing?
Anambra should have nothing less than 3 good football clubs. One each for Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. Though sponsoring the clubs would be a burden for the state govt, private investors should be encouraged to come in.

Anambra UTD is now Ikpazu FC they won last year's Anambra federation's cup and played In last years National FA cup but knocked out in the first round which was finally won by Enyimba

Anambra Pillars on the other hand is still struggling.

However there is a strong plan in the offing by NEROS to float a formindable club after the completion of the stadium at NANKA

community ownership of football is the way forward in developing the football spirit in anambra.the onigbinde model will be the most feasible way of developing the game in the state.if Onitsha can get supporters club of 10,000 members each giving at least 1,000 Maria or more with a share ownership of 0.001 stake of the club.the presidential system of Barcelona club governance can be adopted.

Former Super Eagles coach, Adegboye Onigbinde,
has said that no football club exists in Nigeria.
Onigbinde, who recently turned 75, spoke with
our correspondent in a telephone interview on
Sunday.
He said the general definition of a club is a
group of people coming together for a common
purpose, stressing that no Nigerian club satisfies
such a definition.
Onigbinde said, “In FIFA statute, Article 17 states

that any football body must be capable of
handling its affairs without interference from a
third party.
“It also states that the executive of any football
body must be democratically elected. For these
reasons, we don’t have any football club in
Nigeria.
“Even in the days of Abiola Babes, Stationery
Stores and others, we had decisions being taken
by a third party or a group of very few people.”
Explaining that football is a lucrative enterprise,
Onigbinde emphasised that a group of 5, 000
people could come together to form a club.
He said, “I’m still hoping to establish First
Football Club of Nigeria; that would be the name,
First Football Club. I hope to get 5,000 people to
contribute N1,000 each. After this, we will
incorporate it. This is my next objective.
“This was what I wanted to do with Prime FC of
Osogbo before the idea was scuttled. Some
people would not like the idea of a club
generating its own source of funding because
they know that such money donated by members
of the club cannot be embezzled.

Nice.
The management of the club should make plans to have a better pitch for the club. The current pitch at Beverly hills hotel is not befitting. As at 2013 when i visited there, what i saw was just an ordinary football field and not a stadium. Since the club have gained promotion, it's expected that more people will come to watch their home games but the ground i saw cannot sit even a thousand fans.
