Abeg, don't be vexed yet. Postpone the vexation till April 1st. Abeg

@Pr0ton
You're referring to passing chords.
There are different ways of moving to the fourth of anykey. I'll just give a li'le recap.
In moving to the fourth:
+ Play a 3dim7 chord.
An instance is when moving to the F from any note on key C, you can play Edim7( E G Bb D) before moving to Fmaj(F A C )
+ use circle of fourths.
Before moving to F note on key C, you can play the fourth of F. The fourth of F is Bb(I.e F G A (Bb) C D E F ). Therefore, you'll play a Bbmajor chord (Bb D F)
+ play a Vmin chord.
You could as well play the Gmin chord before moving to the F major chord.
Example. C- G- (Gmin)- F. Gmin is G Bb D.

Try them out and give me a feedback.

Hey guys!
I have something to share with y'all. It's on Chord substitution, substituting Majors for minors.

@proton pls add the neutron game. boi just posted to your proton so that electrons can start revolving round the nucleus of your atom. wink

@gameboi it seems what you just wrote applies to any key of a scale. So when moving to any key at all one can play the very key before it as a diminshed7 and the key after it as a minor or major if the key is minor, right? undecided

@proton you might also want to try out sus chords as in sus2 and sus4, they are just too sweet. tongue

olden versions don't have octave button. And I was also shocked the day I saw a keyboard without transpose button. Each time the keyboardist wants to play he begs the singer not to change key If not na end of service be that.

Csus2 is C D G while Csus4 is C F G.

The application is this; play the sus chord of the key you are going before or after playing the key.

E.g when going for C to G play G A D or G C D before or after playing G B D, truss me bro. It's soo sweet.

cool bro
I use the 3dim7 as a passing chord to the 4 a lot in African praise songs, though I usually leave out the flat 7 (D), and play it as a triad.

the 5min for me, is the same as the 3dim7, they sound alike, so I use them interchangeably on the 3 (mi)

I didn't get your circle of fourths idea though

Mehhh. This will make sense. I can't wait for my guy to return the keyboard so I can try all these goodies. Thank you bro cheesy

I misplaced the Csus2 (that's because I don't use it. It's been long I learnt it) Thanks once again.

I can play all keys, it's only a matter of fluency.
I can play C# D Eb F F# G Ab Bb B.
I didn't mention C 'cos It's too straightforward. I hate it. E and A are A bit complex, I only play them during worship.

Circle of fourths is playing fourth of the fourth.

In Key C, the notes are C D E F G A B C. The fourth of C is F.

Then in F, the notes are F G A Bb C D E F. The fourth of F is Bb.

In Bb, the notes are Bb C D Eb F G A Bb. The fourth of Bb is Eb

Therefore, playing in Circle of fourth, starting from Key C is C-F-Bb-Eb-Ab-C#-F#-B-E-A-D-G-C.

Understood?

the truth is, I use them without knowing.

If I'm playing in a particular Key(F# for Instance), I tend to borrow notes that are in the scale of E(Like A) or its minor.

All those borrowed notes belong to either the Minor, Mixolydian, et al.

By the way, do you know that the 6th of a major scale is actually a min7 chord? 'cos I'm sure you only see it as an ordinary minor chord.
