Microfonance banks have been repositioned and can't close as quickly as before. Diamond's is contract staff levels. Do you think the need for that position will last long enough for you to get absorbed in the bank or get a better job? Those are the things to consider.

Like seriously OP u should have made good research before taking any final decision, i know someone who works with the bank (AB-MFB) he live very ok drive a nice car and lives in a modest 3 bedroom flat, he told me anything health is taken care of by the bank HMO, is basic salary is more than 110k per month and his avergae bonus and transport is close to 60k yes i meant transport because there pay them transport per loan disbursed.he is a loan officer working there now for 2 years plus, on the down side he has to disburse a certain number of loans per month and recover any bad loan with the help of the bank. To be frank nothing good comes easy you can remain in your comfort zone where you collect 50k per month or take the bold move and face the challenges of work stress in the AB-MFB. The ball is in you court. Nothing good comes easy.

OP am sure peeps advising you to stay on Contract have NEVER done contract job. Or never moved from a contract role to perm!


There are only few occasions when one can take a contract job;
1. When you are Jobless
2. When retired
3. Maybe leaving a less paid contract to a higher one.
4. When it's a career role in well establish place with higher possibility of been made perm!

From experience I would advised you to even go for the loan Officer even if it's 4Ok, ie less than BVN whatever! Are you aware you can apply for loan officer even in other banks or even Oil company in a just few months time?
But am sure in 10year no bank would want to employ as a full BVN whatever.

Also I can assure that if you work averagely on both job, you just might still be a BVN in 10years time, while am sure you would not be a loan officer in the MFB as you would have been promoted more than 3X.

DO NOT think about it move NOW.

Interesting comments. Young men afraid of targets for getting that life is filled with every day targets. Young people who do not know the value of expanding their network forgetting that your network goes a long way to open new and boundless opportunities. Fear of challenges. Comfort zone bubble makers. Only tangible value assessments. Take up the challenge at the mfb. You'd soon learn to swim and know how to create value for that is what will last. A final secret young man look for an uncommon skill, ability, capability, resource and give yourself a target to be one of the few that is sought after to add that value then you'd know what it means to be negotiating from a point of strength. 4. Have you ever heard that diamond bank did convert its contract staff? Don't be fooled.

5. MFBs are never short of customers of seeking loans. So, ur target depends on how good your human relationship skills is.

7. Please take the job. Its an added experience with added pay. Target is meant to keep you in check, but it is very achievable. You will find it easier to secure next level offer than to remain at the bottom.

i am currently a staff of ab mfb. i have been working there for 3 years now as a loan officer. i had to take this same decision 3 years ago then i was working with uacn and the pay was poor. i was confused. should i stay here and manage this pay or should i risk the burden of target. after thinking and praying, i decided to go for ab mfb. the reason i went to ab is because
1. i couldnt continue with that pay
2. marketing loan is easier than marketing deposit
3. i want to be directly linked to the profit of any company i work so my services will always be needed.
some of the opportunity ab gives to you is the time and space to be able to attend other job interviews if you want to move, however, working with so much peace of mind may make you not to search for another job. concerning the pay, with 70k as a start, if you do your job, within 6 months, you will be going home with nothing less than 150k.

if you decide to come, another hurdle will be the 15 days training. you must not absent for 1 day otherwise,

you have a tough choice to make but i see THREE options here:
1 - Stay put at Diamond Bank and continue your contract position
2 - Accept the new Loan Officer position with all the TARGETS to achieve on a monthly basis
3 - Reject the current offer and keep applying for more favorable position at same or a different company.

I think you should try to ask someone working in the bank (AB microfinance) what its like not to achieve targets.

Sorry I must sound contrary to d advice dey re givn u here. Biometric verification is just 4 a period of. 3, 4, 5months and d game is ova. Unless if they will help u get a job through recomendatn to their agents after the exercise to retain u on a more reliable contract that could earn u 68k basic salary. In most cases no body cares about ur jobless condition in d branch. BVN wuld not allow u luk 4 anoda job bc d task is highly demanding and u culd rarely get permision to come to wrk bc ur d only staff on dat desk and d bank can not afford to risk dat. U culd consider stayn and trying ur luck only if u av OND or HND, if not pls find ur way. U can as well build a career wit MFB hang there and wait for a better opotunity. Don't be decieved, howeva is just an advice from an experienced banker buh u still av ur own mind, gudluck in ur career.

From what I can deduced from the above contributions and comments, you should go for the micro finance job.
You can also see from people with experience from the same micro finance bank and the analysis of the prospect of working as a loan officer, to me it is better you go for the micro finance job and dump diamond bank. To me, there is no challenge in the diamond bank job other than a computer operator which a secondary school student can do with easy, talk of a university graduate.

I'll advise you go for the microfinance bank job, you working as a biometric officer @ diamond bank, tell yourself what skills have u acquired, then think about the numerous skills you will gain working as a loan officer. All those advising you to stay with diamond bank cause of the brand that will supposedly help you land a better job forgot that companies dont hire based on how reputable your previous workplace is but what your role is in the previous workplace and how you were able to cope with difficulties. Remain in Diamond bank. MFBs crash anyhow and no regrets to their staff and customers. O boy, if you experience stress on a N200k job, you will even prefer a N120k job with no stress..

I don't have any experience with the banking sector but it seems to me that a loan officer is not half as bad as a marketer when it comes to the ease of meeting targets.

People are always on the lookout for loans that are favourable so getting customers shouldn't too much of a big deal. The stress can come in I guess when we talk of having customers who can meet the banks criteria.

I agree that Diamond bank is more prestigious but being a contract staff without the possibility of getting a permanent deal ain't worth it for me as you would be entitled to next to nothing should you be laid off, even after spending donkey years with them.

On the other hand, working in a microfinance bank that has some targets to meet may not only be tasking but also not give you the job security that you seek. How much job security does being a contract staff affords you?

In all, the questions you need to answer sincerely before making your choice are:

1) Where would you be fulfilled working between the two?

2) How much savings would you have after you take out the cost of transportation and feeding?

3) Which job role best suits your future goals?

4) Which job is more secured?

5) Which has the best sraff welfare package?

6) Which would afford you the opportunity of self development?

7) Which would give you the flexibility of applying for other jobs and attending interviews?

How long do you plan to stay in either job?

9) Which take home pay actually takes you home?

10) Etc

I was recently faced with a similar situation of choosing between remaining in a bigger brand or moving to a smaller brand.

had loads of advice from all peeps...

telling me of d challenges that come with working with the smaller brand even with the 50% pay increase.

1 thing about me is... I love to challenge myself... so I took it up just because of the purported challenge.. wider experience scope n d pay... after all people doing it don't ve two heads.

am I regretting NO... for as long as I know I'm not gonna be ere forever... once I hit my target date... I move to anoda coy... with the advantage of having worked for a big and a smaller brand and not forgetting bigger negotiating power!!!

From what I gathered from all statements, bro, move to the MFB, it will tickle your mind and open more doors.
I'm currently doing a tasking job with huge responsibility and it has been great cos I learn new skill every day with better opportunity to apply creativity.

Take the loan Officer job, challenge is part of life.
